As recently as last Tuesday, just three artists had signed on to “Fox Presents the iHeart Living Room Concert for America.” But after a week of scrambling and all-night editing sessions, the producers and executives behind the special managed to put together a one-hour event on Sunday night that attracted at least 8.7 million viewers across multiple networks, and has so far raised more than $8 million.
It was a lo-fi production that producer Joel Gallen and the teams led by Fox Alternative Entertainment president Rob Wade, iHeart Media president of entertainment enterprises John Sykes and iHeart Media national programming president Tom Poleman managed to splice into a broadcast-quality telecast.

Elton John is set to host a live concert special on Fox that aims to raise money for groups fighting to stop the spread of coronavirus in the United States.
The iHeart Living Room Concert for America hails from Fox and iHeartMedia. In addition to John hosting, the event will feature performances by Alicia Keys, the Backstreet Boys, Billie Eilish, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mariah Carey, Tim McGraw and more, from their own homes, filmed with their personal cell phones, cameras and audio equipment, to ensure the health and safety of all involved. Additional details and performers will be announced soon.
The hour-long, commercial-free concert will pay tribute to the front line health professionals and first responders on the front lines of fighting the ongoing pandemic. “The Ellen K Weekend Show,” featuring an AC format geared to adults, will launch this Saturday (July 28). The program will feature lifestyle, news and interviews, and will be carried by nine iHeartRadio stations, including her current home station, Kost in Los Angeles and Wltw (106.7 Lite fm) in New York as well as Chicago, Houston, Washington, D.C. Detroit, Phoenix, Portland and Las Vegas. Thirty more markets pick up the show on August 25. The program will also be available to stream on iHeartMedia’s digital app.
