On the same day YouTube starKian Lawley was cast alongside Bella Thorne (Blended) in AwesomenessTV’s Us Black List feature Shovel Buddies, an industry audience at Mbi’s Creative Week conference in London heard about the potential for online talent to cross over into film and TV.
Dominic Smales, managing director of Gleam Futures, the social talent agency which handles online sensations Zoe Sugg, aka Zoella, and Alfie Deyes, told industry that the migration of online talent to longer format media was well underway.
“That development is well underway already,” he explained. “There has already been a number of movies released in the states. I know Maker Studios will be prolific in that space. It will be very exciting to see content developed by talent as producers for cinema and TV. We’ve already got a number of things in development.”

Children's TV adventure series Knightmare is returning in August for a one-off special episode filmed for YouTube...
Enter, Stranger...
Courtesy of Citv's Old Skool weekend and Challenge TV, 2013 has been a good year for Knightmare fans. It's about to get even better, as creator Tim Child has produced a one-off special episode of the children's adventure series to mark Geek Week, YouTube's seven-day celebration of "science fiction, comics, gaming and science" running between the 4th and 10th of August.
Returning for the special (because it wouldn't be Knightmare without him) is Hugo Myatt as dungeon master Tregard, who is to be joined by Peep Show's Isy Suttie, Harry Potter's Jessie Cave, and "four British YouTube stars, Dan Howell, Phil Lester, Emma Blackery and Stuart Ashen".
For old time's sake then, here's a peek at Knightmare's opening credits:

Warwick Davis, best known for his roles in a number of popular sci-fi films, has started to build a following on YouTube. His Multiverse channel is part of the YouTube Original Channels Initiative, and he has built his profile by appearing in several other videos. Most recently, he showed up on another British YouTube Original Channel, Bad Teeth, where he brings in some of his actor pals to help him remake classic viral videos after he accidentally destroys the only copy of YouTube's biggest hits. Basically, the video has the same plot as Be Kind, Rewind, except adjusted to fit the Internet age and way more British: After accidentally destroying YouTube's only copies of its best viral videos and cat videos, Davis enlists his friends to help him remake them before YouTube finds out. Due to his dwarfism, Davis is perfect for the cat videos, while performers such as Idris Elba,...
