Rapid Pace-GoodTechnical-Special Effects-Makes This A Better Than Average "B" Movie
10 June 2017 | by tdwillis-26273See all my reviews

An independent, Brit, found footage film that started out with a 16 year old getting a video camera for her birthday. What was immediately obvious to me, was the OVER acting.

Thankfully it was almost immediately (approx. 6 minutes into the movie) that the "action" starts. Using CGI, these first opening action scenes presented low flying jets, alien spacecrafts, explosions and gunfire that looked and sounded remarkably good. The CGI remained the best part of this movie, as it is unusually good for an independent production,

As the movie progressed and other characters were introduced, the acting improved. The lead character, "Chloe" with her forced cheerfulness and sub-par acting, and to a lesser degree her sister remained irritating.

I continued to be impressed with the technical and make up effects. The screen shot of a destroyed city, and a sudden instance of a building falling was excellently portrayed. The cinematography was very intelligently presented. Many times it appeared just like a movie and NOT a found footage film which increased my ability to overlook apparent budget issues, sloppy editing, awkward acting and uninspired story and remain somewhat engaged and interested.

It helped that the pace was very rapid. The action scenes well done.

There was a small new slant (without giving too much away) with the idea of a zombie induced alien weapon. There wasn't enough emphasis on the only unique part of the story, tho.

Ultimately, this was one of the better B Movies, I've seen.
