Outside of the TV series 'Knightmare', he mainly worked as a stage actor and director. He worked on over 170 productions during his career, which began in the mid-1960s. Although he didn't go to drama school and had never really acted before, he started off by getting into a children's theatre company and later moved on to repertory theatre.
