Drum & Lace, aka Sofia degli Alessandri-Hultquist, is an artist and composer from Florence, Italy. Her music has been described as being genre-fluid and having a “chameleon-like nature” (A Closer Listen), melding together sampled field recordings, lush layers of synths, chamber instruments and electronic beats. She draws inspiration from film music, music concrete and nature to create textural electronica, often blending unlikely sounds with one another.
Her feature-length film scoring credits include Netflix film “Night Teeth” (directed by Adam Randall), campy-thriller “Deadly Illusions”, They/Them (directed by John Logan) and the just released Red, White & Royal Blue. Television credits include AppleTV+ Original Series Dickinson (created by Alena Smith), seasons 3 and 4 of NBC Good Girls (created by Jenna Bans & Bill Krebs) and I Know What You Did Last Summer (created by Sara Goodman) for Amazon Prime Video.

At the back end of 2022 it was announced that the 1996 hit Twister would be getting a sequel in 2024. So it should perhaps come as no surprise that similar movies are starting to release in 2023. Supercell would be one of those movies.
The start of the movie shows a young couple storm chasing, while it is made clear that they are doing this for scientific reasons, and not just as thrill-seekers. Unfortunately, the male of the couple ends up dying when he gets too close to a tornado and we shoot forward a number of years to his now grown-up, son and his mother. Alec Baldwin is proving his VOD bankability is not rusty one bit.
Baldwin’s latest film “Supercell” debuted in the top 10 on iTunes, marking the actor’s first movie released since the fatal October 2021 shooting on the “Rust” set. Baldwin is currently facing manslaughter charges in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. “Rust” producer Anjul Nigam and actor Baldwin’s production banner Persona Entertainment is also behind “Supercell,” with Nigam credited as an executive producer.
“Supercell” only grossed under $8,000 in theaters since its March 17 day-and-date release on VOD. If 1996's "Twister" taught us anything, it's that storm chasing is not only exhilarating, but when things go wrong it makes for one hell of a natural disaster movie. In 2024, we'll be treated to "Twisters," the long-awaited follow-up to "Twister," which is looking to capitalize on the success of legacy sequels, similar to "Top Gun: Maverick." But before that disaster epic touches ground and lays waste to the box office, another group of reckless storm chasers, led by none other than Alec Baldwin, will be heading directly into the eye of the storm for our viewing pleasure.
"Supercell" is a disaster movie from director Herbert James Winterstern, previously known for his work on NBC's "Siberia." Alongside Baldwin, the movie stars Skeet Ulrich, Jordan Kristine Seamón, Daniel Diemer, and in one of her final performances before her tragic passing in 2022, Anne Heche. Blunt: Amy Smart, Billy Zane, and more star in psychological thriller from Deadly Illusions director
Last year’s Deadly Illusions was the fourth feature directed by Anna Elizabeth James, but her first thriller. When it was released through the Netflix streaming service, it was the #1 movie on the service worldwide for eight days straight. So it makes sense that James’ fifth feature is also a thriller. This one is called Blunt and stars Amy Smart (Mirrors), Billy Zane (Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight), Matt Davis (Terror of Dracula), Greer Grammer (Awkward), and Ne-Yo (Red Tails).
Smart’s character is
a single mother who wakes up to find herself hogtied and held captive at her country vacation rental by an unknown assailant. In a race against time, she must piece together clues from the previous guests to find out who assaulted her, and hopefully survive the ordeal.
Deadline reports that Voltage Pictures is handling global sales on Blunt and will be presenting it to potential buyers immediately.

"I thought we could use a little playtime." Dark Star Pictures is releasing this erotic thriller on VOD starting in June, and they've posted an official trailer to get a closer look. Deadly Illusions is the latest film from director Anna Elizabeth James, about a bestselling novelist suffering from writer's block. She hires a young new nanny for her children to help her work on her next book. Everything changes when Mary becomes spellbound by Grace who soon becomes her muse. As their relationship blossoms, the line between the life she's writing and the one she's living becomes blurred. The film stars Kristin Davis and Greer Grammer as Mary and Grace, along with Dermot Mulroney, Lora Martinez-Cunningham, and Shanola Hampton. This definitely does look like the epitome of an "erotic thriller" with some expected deadly twists, but not sure there's enough here to make this worthwhile. Here's the official trailer...

Netflix viewers have quickly realized that Deadly Illusions embraces the "less is more" motto to be "more tantalizing and intriguing than actual pornography," in the words of its writer and director Anna Elizabeth James. The mind twist that is Deadly Illusions centers on bestselling author Mary Morrison (Kristin Davis), who hires an innocent nanny, Grace (Greer Grammer), to take care of her two kids while she writes her next book. What follows is Mary's sexual fantasy (or is it reality?) of her love affair with Grace, who is hiding a rather startling secret. Anna and Greer spoke with E! News about the psycho-sexual thriller and answered all of...

Photo: ‘Deadly Illusions’/Netflix The thriller film genre is defined as “giving viewers heightened feelings of suspense, excitement, surprise, anticipation and anxiety.” Many times, thrillers use a character’s anxiety or deteriorating mental health as a means of creating tension and plot in the film. In the new Netflix film ‘Deadly Illusions’, writer/director Anna Elizabeth James does exactly that: makes mental health seem like an illusion; something that can be brushed under the rug once it no longer matters to the main character. It’s tricky deciding what kind of cheese “Deadly Illusions,” a diverting thriller starring Kristin Davis and Dermot Mulroney streaming on Netflix, is exactly. Soft and overripe, from the look of it. Which poses the question, when is its cheesiness intentional and when is it clumsy? From the movie’s nudging title sequence — with steady fretful music — to its final teasing scene, the movie appears to wink at the genre, but to what end? Think too hard about it and “Deadly Illusions,” written and directed by Anna Elizabeth James, may even prove vexing. What is it saying about class? About trauma? About how women — the characters but also the director — view each other?
But why trouble our pretty little heads with those quandaries when we could sit back deep into the couch and giggle at the story of Mary Morrison, her near-perfect family and the pert and innocent (or is she?...

As digital photography takes over from film, smartphones are fast becoming an option for film-makers
The decisive moment for smartphones overtaking point-and-shoot cameras occurred last summer when the iPhone 4 became the most popular device for picture uploads to the image-sharing site Flickr.
