Hollywood studios are still licking their wounds over one of the worst years in memory in terms of boxoffice performance, though there are signs of a strong final quarter. Still, the guys and gals in the corner offices can't get out of a rut when it comes to lack of imagination. When they have a good thing, their only strategy seems to be to over-indulge in it. As David Sims writes in the Atlantic, Warner Bros. is planning three- yes, three- simultaneous comic book-related films featuring the Joker. The abundance of superhero films is the latest trend and, as usual, studios are over-indulging in it to the point that the bloom will come off the rose with audiences that are always seeking the next shiny object. Eventually, the quality of the films, which are all similar in content, begins to diminish and all the CGI effects imaginable...

Marc Jacobs is known for casting unconventional spokesmodels in his ad campaigns. Instead of picking from the usual high-fashion model suspects, the designer turns to individualistic celebrities including Missy Elliot, Winona Ryder, Debi Mazar and Frances Bean Cobain, the 24-year-old daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. And Frances just did something shocking that her boundary pushing parents would certainly appreciate: She graffitied her own Marc Jacobs billboard.
Her spring 2017 ad campaign (shot by David Sims) is located directly above the brand’s flagship store in L.A. and shows her modeling a babydoll dress in the brand’s signature minimalistic ad design.

The big surprise in last month’s announcement of the lineup at the 69th Cannes Film Festival, which begins today, wasn’t one of the films. It was that the studio behind 5 of this year’s selections—more than any other distributor—is Amazon, marking the first time Cannes has included films produced by an online streaming company. The company may have been making a bet on Cannes in February, when it reportedly paid as much as $20 million to acquire the North American rights to Woody Allen’s Café Society, which the festival selected for its opening night. Three of Amazon’s other films will be among those competing for the Palme d’Or; the fifth is a special midnight screening.Amazon’s presence at Cannes is even more notable given the complete absence of its main competitor: Netflix. Though the two companies made headlines together at Sundance, where they acquired 6 films each in January,...

Everyone wants a piece of Kendall Jenner. For Calvin Klein's latest underwear ads, the 19-year-old supermodel and E! reality star vamped for fashion photographer David Sims. Posing with two half-naked male models, Jenner looked confident and in control—a fitting attitude, given that the campaign focuses on empowerment. The teen beauty also filled in Calvin Klein's Mad Libs-style slogan, "I ________ in my Calvins," using three different (albeit similar) sentiments: "am powerful," "am strong" and "find strength." Jenner's first Calvin Klein ads debuted in the summer of 2015. She and fellow models Isabeli Fontana, Joan Smalls and Edita Vilkeviciute stripped down for...

Kendall Jenner's topless cover for Love magazine has made a lot of people uncomfortable, but the 18-year-old model insists that it's "not weird in any way."
During an interview with Australia's KissFM last week, Kendall told Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O that the shoot didn't feel awkward at all, saying that the shoot was more about "energy and vibes and good music."
"The people that I work with make me very comfortable," she said.
Renowned photographer David Sims was behind the lens for the shoot. Sims is perhaps best known for shooting a topless Kate Moss for Calvin Klein.
Kendall joins Amy Adams, Christy Turlington and Adriana Lima as models to have been featured in the fashion bible's Autumn/Winter edition this year.

Whatcha thinkin' about, Miley? For the Marc Jacobs spring 2014 campaign, Miley Cyrus looks lost in thought as she pouts her way through the images, taken by legendary photographer David Sims. The Bangerz hitmaker, whose somber face first made its debut on the Internet back in January, looks fierce in brand new campaign photos released on Feb. 28. The "Wrecking Ball" singer, 21, keeps her infamous tongue in her mous and instead purses her lips on a deserted beach littered with zombie-like models. In another photo, Cyrus appears to [...]...

Jessica Lange is now the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty line at 64, photographed by David Sims below. (Take that previously daring Lancôme with Isabella Rossellini as their international spokesface until she was in her dotage at 44).
What a second act Jess's career! After a very long rough stretch (approximately 1996-2008 which saw the likes of Hush and Bonneville and a couple of barely released movies) she's really on top of it all again... except the movies. What can we trace the revival back to? Many of you would shout "Grey Gardens!" from 2009, but I think the secret might be her honorary place in David O. Russell's I ♥ Huckabees with its Jessica Lange photo fetish.
Is it a crime? Is it a crime to look at Lange?!
Question: If she made Titus (1999) or Big Fish (2003) now, and gave the exact same performance she gave then, post career resurgence, do you...

Sneak Peek actress Rooney Mara ("The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo") in a recent fashion editorial by photographer David Sims for "Vogue" magazine, plus Nsfw footage of Mara from "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo":
In the new February 2013 release "Side Effects", Mara plays the wife of a jailed insider stock trader, who falls into a 'bleak depression' after a doctor over-prescribes her with drugs.
"I had a lot of anxiety growing up because I was so shy," said Mara. "But severe clinical depression is a whole other thing, and I guess I never really knew how bad it can get."
"I think that’s part of the reason I like acting...I can be someone else. I get to express a lot of things that maybe are hard for me to express in my normal life...I’d really rather hide behind the character. It’s like a party trick.

Never a fan of leaving much to the imagination, Miley Cyrus goes fully topless in a newly-released outtake photo from her Maxim magazine spread.
Last year, the “Party in the USA” songstress showed her derriere for photographer Brian Bowen Smith as part of the Hot 100 list.
And it turns out she also opted to throw open her jacket to expose her bare chest, including her lady curves and her “Just Breathe” tattoo.
Meanwhile, Miley hit a snag in posing for the Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 ad campaign, as Jacobs’ preferred photographer Juergen Teller refused to shoot her.
Jacobs explained to Wwd, “I have worked with Juergen for years and love him as an artist. He just didn't want to shoot her.” Instead, Cyrus sat for David Sims.

Although her beautiful and fashion-forward photo shoot for Marc Jacobs was officially released, it looks like it was a bit more work to get Miley Cyrus photographed for the collection.
Juergen Teller, one of the brand's normal shutterbugs, refused to photograph the "We Can't Stop" singer for the designer’s upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 ad campaign.
Marc Jacobs simply stated that, "He just didn’t want to shoot her," in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, and reports state that David Sims later photographed Miley for the campaign.
Jacobs continued, saying, "I have worked with Juergen for years and love him as an artist." Regardless of reasons for refusal to shoot Miley, she will still appear in the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2014 ad campaign!
