Takuma Sato won his second Indianapolis 500 championship Sunday, holding off Scott Dixon after the last round of pit stops in the race, held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The race finished under a yellow caution flag. Spencer Pigot crashed hard with five laps remaining. This year’s race was run without fans at the 235,000-seat speedway, owing to the coronavirus pandemic. It was also moved from its traditional Memorial Day slot to this weekend.
Sato also won the race in 2017, while betting favorite Dixon won in 2008. Graham Rahal finished 3rd, with Santinio Ferrucci 4th. The top 4 are Honda-powered cars and Josef Newgarden is the top Chevrolet-powered car in 5th. Pole sitter Marco Andretti finished 13th.
Dixon led a race-leading 111 laps and moved into 3rd on the career list of laps led.

Race-car drivers generally don't get credit for being athletes in the truest sense of the word, but their sport does have its unique demands.
Obviously, they must have superior hand-eye coordination to be able to pilot those cars around racetracks at speeds over 200 mph. They must be able to withstand the triple-digit heat that can accumulate in their vehicles as they negotiate sun-scorched Southern tracks on hot summer days. They also must be able to handle the G-forces resulting from taking turns at high speeds.
And then there's the laser-beamlike focus they must maintain for three-plus hours to keep their speeding cars on track, away from other cars and hopefully headed to victory. It's that last attribute that three-time Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves says he put to good use on the dance floor almost six years ago to win Season 5 of "Dancing With the Stars."

Despite a close run from Japanese driver Takuma Sato, Dario Franchitti (aka Mr. Ashley Judd) won the 2012 Indianapolis 500 on Sunday (May 27) for the third time. A final lap crash took Sato out of the running and barely missed hitting Franchitti as his car skidded into the outside wall of the raceway, reports the Associated Press.
Franchitti's teammate, Scott Dixon, finished second while Tony Kanaan finished third.
"I want to thank all the fans for saluting our Dan today," said Franchitti from the winners' circle, who was a close friend of Dan Wheldon who died in a race during the 2011 racing season. "What a race."
Weather in Indianapolis was a grueling 91 degrees during the three-plus hour race. Another favorite driver, Marco Andretti, crashed with 13 laps to go -- dashing his chances at the win.

On Sunday (May 27), the 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 mile race -- aka the Indy 500 -- will kick off at Noon Et at Indiana's Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but for the first time in years Danica Patrick -- who is now competing on the Nascar circuit -- won't be in the starting lineup. Neither will racing legend Richard Petty.
Petty is concentrating his energies on the Coca Cola 600, which kicks off Saturday evening in Charlotte, N.C.
"Really, we just never put anything together to go to Indy this year, so it's all the 600. As far as I'm concerned, the 600 is a lot bigger race than the 500 anyway," Petty tells the Sporting News.
So who is worth watching in Indianapolis this year? The Christian Science Monitor recommends keeping an eye on three past winners who will be in the running: Dario Franchitti, Helio Castroneves and Scott Dixon. But, cautions the Monitor,...

Sunday's (April 1) epic three-hour episode of "The Celebrity Apprentice" saw two tasks, one team switch, two celebrities fired and one quit. Debbie Gibson was robbed as the celebrity from the first task to hear Donald Trump's famous parting words after Teresa Giudice chose to bring her and Dayana Mendoza to the boardroom, while Twisted Sister's Dee Snider got his possibly undeserved walking papers when losing project manager Lou Ferrigno brought him and Dayana -- once again -- into the boardroom after the second task.
And from the looks of things, Trump is never going to fire Dayana, possibly because the Miss Universe Organization -- she's the 2008 winner -- is a partnership between Trump and NBC.
The most shocking turn of events came after Arsenio Hall's win as project manager for Team Unanimous when the rest of the team went back to the war room, while Aubrey O'Day...

Donald Trump and his bevy of B-listers (if we're being generous) are back on "The Celebrity Apprentice." And the premiere brought with it everything we hoped for: Adam Corolla and Lisa Lampanelli disguising their standup routines as banter with fellow contestants, George Takei talking about how smoking hot Lou Ferrigno's body is, and Trump firing a celeb that, honestly, we probably won't miss that much.
After we figured out who the heck all these people actually are, got the skinny on the people we haven't seen since the '90s -- or ever (note to Arsenio Hall, or anyone really: When someone asks what you've been up to lately, don't open with "I ran into Ruben Studdard"), heard a couple of Adam/Lisa quips, and were lulled into submission by George's voice, Trump divided the two teams by gender, per usual.

Joined by a sub-set of his new boardroom proteges, Donald Trump appeared on The Today Show this morning to officially announce the season 12 Celebrity Apprentice candidates (though we've known their names for months now), thereby officially ringing the opening bell for his celebs to start dishing about the season, and each other.

A brave group of stars will endure inevitable outbursts of rage from their comrades, possible humiliation in front of millions of TV viewers, and close proximity to Donald Trump’s waking-nightmare hair on Season 5 of Celebrity Apprentice (aka Season 12 of The Apprentice). Let’s ponder the chances of the first nine would-be contestants whose names have leaked to the media — in order from least- to most-likely to win.
Cheryl Tiegs: To my knowledge, the swimsuit model of yore doesn’t seem like the type who’d rip a rival limb from limb just to earn a spot in the Trump Family’s inner circle.

The casting rumor mill's been working overtime as production gets underway on 'Celebrity Apprentice' Season 5, and now it looks like Donald Trump will have some really feisty characters on his hands.
'People' reports that '80s warbler and star of such awesome TV movies as 'Mega Python vs. Gatoroid' Debbie Deborah Gibson and 'American Idol' vet Clay Aiken have been confirmed as contestants.
They'll be sitting in the boardroom alongside previously announced contestants Cheryl Tiegs and Marco Andretti. And that's not all: 'Real Housewives' star Teresa "Table Flipper" Giudice and writer Victoria Gotti are also said to have joined the cast.

If I were “Invisible,” I would sneak into the taping of season 5 of Celebrity Apprentice. Because not only have Cheryl Tiegs and Marco Andretti signed on to star in the next season of Donald Trump’s hugest-show-in-television-history-no-it’s-not-oh-well-let’s-pretend-anyway, but Celebrity Apprentice has reportedly attracted four more cast members: Debbie Gibson (totally rad!), Teresa Giudice (table-flippin’ awesome!), Victoria Gotti (bada bing!), and Clay Aiken (holy argyle!).

Celebrity Apprentice season 5 begins filming next week, meaning that a handful of high-profile stars (plus a few "who's thats?" and has-beens) are rumored to be sharpening their nails, packing their bags and flying off toward Trump Tower, ready to engage in a bloody, no-holds-barred Business Battle Royale! (For charity.)
But who? And can any of them hold a crazy candle to Gary Busey?
Yesterday a production "insider" told EW that supermodel Cheryl Tiegs, 64, and racecar driver Marco Andretti, 24, are definitely in the cast this season.
How can two people who made/make their livings showing skin and driving fast cars still inspire such little excitement in my heart? Maybe because Tiegs has always seemed sweet, and Marco's corporate experience begins and ends with the stickers on his car. Let's just hope they're surprise bulldogs in the board room.
