Underneath its laddish title is a new comedy with a surprising amount of heart. Here's our preview of Channel 4's Scrotal Recall...
Channel 4's latest, arrestingly titled, comedy series begins with a rude awakening. Dylan Witter has tested positive for chlamydia and he doesn't know from whom he contracted it. Along with his lothario best friend Luke, he must build up the courage to contact all of his sexual partners and inform them. You could see it as a new take on My Name Is Earl but with STDs instead of karma.
Let's deal with the elephant in the room here. There are going to be a lot of people taking one look at the name and possibly writing this series off based on that alone. It's obviously going to be the first question I asked series creator and writer, Tom Edge. "It was kind of a joke for the producers.

Our voyage through history's underappreciated films arrives at the year 2008 - another great year for lesser-seen gems...
For some, 2008 will be memorable as the year of The Dark Knight, with its astonishingly unhinged turn from the late Heath Ledger. Alternatively, it could be remembered as the year a legion Indiana Jones fans left cinemas glum-faced, having sat through Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.
Elsewhere, Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan sang and danced on a Greek island in Mamma Mia!, while Will Smith played an alcoholic superhero in Hancock. But as usual, 2008 offered plenty of watchable movies outside the top 10, which is where we swoop in - like Hancock after a bottle of gin.
So as usual, here's our selection of 25 underappreciated films from the year 2008 - starting with a British horror film starring Michael Fassbender...

The Britain's Got Talent egg-throwing incident may become the subject of a movie.
Natalie Holt surprised viewers during the live final on Saturday (June 8), when she suddenly appeared on stage during Richard and Adam's performance, and proceeded to throw eggs at Simon Cowell.
The violist's filmmaker boyfriend Chris Waitt has now expressed hopes of developing a film version of his partner's moment in the spotlight.
"It's a perfect scenario for a film script," the BAFTA award-winning filmmaker is quoted as saying in The Sun.
"But we don't know how it will all finish yet so I haven't got my ending."
He is also hoping to sign up Simon Cowell to star in the project, according to the tabloid.
> Simon Cowell's egg-thrower Natalie Holt: Who is she?
Natalie Holt recently refused to apologise for her antics, saying: "I have no desire to be famous and I'm not an attention seeker.

A Hungarian shadow theatre act won Britain's Got Talent on Saturday night. But nobody really cares about that anymore. The only TV event that anyone is talking about this morning is Natalie Holt's eggs-citing stage invasion, eggs-cellent throwing arm, and the slightly whiffy smell coming from Simon Cowell's changing rooms on Sunday morning.
But what exactly do we know about the woman that cracked (geddit!) her way into the headlines on Saturday night?
Here are 10 facts that we do know about the eggs-treme talent show protester.
1. Thanks to the wonders of Twitter, we know for sure that Natalie is a "maker of music", a "viola player in Raven Quartet" and a "hater of cotton wool".
2. Raven Quartet are Holt, Stephanie Benedetti, Rachael Lander and Kirsty Mangan. They create "inventive interpretations of the hard-hitting rock tracks" and apparently have "a host of celebrity fans". They claim to have formed...

Back in 2008, Zam Salim created a short film called Laid Off. A critical smash and a minor YouTube sensation, it told the tale of a man that had died but lived on in an earth-bound purgatory until he was worthy of going up to heaven. Here today is the first trailer for the feature length version, Up There, starring Game Of Thrones/Torchwood/The Dark Knight Rises' Burn Gorman as Martin, a recently deceased man who wants to get Up There after being knocked down by a car.Winner of the Panavision Spirit Award - the top prize at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival 2012 - and co-starring Kate O'Flynn (Happy-Go-Lucky), Aymen Hamdouchi (Green Zone), it also features the acting takents of Chris Waitt (A Complete History of My Sexual Failures), Jo Hartley (Dead Man's Shoes, Ill Manors), Iain de Caestecker (The Fades, Young James Herriott), and Kirsty Strain (Burnistoun,...

Chris Waitt had some bad luck when it came to the ladies. So much so that he decided to make a movie about it. A Complete History of My Sexual Failures documents the trials and tribulations of Waitt’s dating life, taking a High-Fideltiy-esque tour through past romances in attempt to get to the crux of the problem, and in the end, find true love.
After being dumped by every girl he ever dated (somewhere around 20), Chris came to the realization that there must be something wrong with him. Besides the obvious fact that he has no job or motivation, doesn’t return phone calls, has seemingly never cleaned his apartment, and only owns two outfits. He had to find out what else he was doing to drive these girls away, why he was so unappealing. To do so, he began a journey that took him back through his past...

Superhero Me is a documentary by English music producer Steve Sale. He preceeds the film with a bit of text explaining that he filmed any which way he could and that the budget was almost non-existant. Then he quotes Mariah Carey; "So when you feel like hope is gone, Look inside you and be strong, And you'll finally see the truth, That a hero lies in you." We begin with comic book experts comicly explaining their veiws on what it means to be a superhero - and I'm about ready to sit back and watch an entertaining documentary about a guy who wants to join the growing cult of real life superheros that's expanding around the world.
Steve does some research into what kind of name his alter-ego should have, and how to make an effective costume.

Universal is developing a feature comedy based on Chris Waitt's documentary "A Complete History of My Sexual Failures."

It's one thing for your indie documentary to become a hit at the Sundance Film Festival and be seen by millions of audiences worldwide. But it's a whole different, and weirder, kind of success when no one outside the festival sees your movie until it's turned into a feature film by the guy who made Meet the Parents. Jay Roach, also responsible for Austin Powers, will bestow this fate upon Chris Waitt, who made the autobiographical documentary The Complete History of My Sexual Failures. Variety reports that the feature version will be about a man who interviews every girl he's ever been with to answer the immortal question, "What's wrong with me?" Roach may or may not direct it, but he'll produce it along with Neil Moritz. Jay Reiss is writing the screenplay. It reminds me a little of the plans to make a feature version of Sherman's March, Ross...

PARK CITY -- As the indie biz flocks to the Rockies with the curtain going up Thursday on the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, an unusually large number of available films, an abundance of potential buyers and Hollywood's labor unrest is fueling talk of the most robust Sundance market in years.
The memory of pricey and poorly performing buys from last year could still slow the train. But when the frenzy known as Sundance Fever takes over -- with its primary symptom of temporary amnesia -- memories fade quickly.
Acquisition executives will be keeping themselves busy with the sheer volume of films. New 3 p.m. slots have been added to the traditional 6 and 9 p.m. Premieres screenings, increasing the overall number of selections in the category from 17 last year to 25.
Three of Friday's films already are attracting strong interest from distributors: "Sunshine Cleaning", a drama from "Little Miss Sunshine" producer Big Beach starring Emily Blunt and Amy Adams; the Ben Kingsley/Mary-Kate Olsen stoner film "The Wackness"; and actor-director Michael Keaton's romantic fable "The Merry Gentleman".
It's just the start of a schedule front-loaded with available titles. The weekend also will see such dramas as Paul Schneider's "Pretty Bird"; the Elle Fanning starrer "Phoebe in Wonderland"; Mark Pellington's "Henry Poole Is Here"; and the coming-of-age tale "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh", one of three films from Michael London's Groundswell Prods. (Miramax's "Smart People" and Overture's "The Visitor" are the others).
Foreign films usually aren't big sellers -- last year's $4 million Searchlight/Weinstein Co. buy of "La Misma Luna" aside -- but in the coming days, the Danish identity-swap thriller "Just Another Love Story", the Russian missing-woman saga "Mermaid" and the Mexican sci-fi tale "Sleep Dealer" are titles that insiders say deliver the goods.
Documentaries, meanwhile, will try to overcome market skepticism this weekend when Nanette Burstein's study in adolescence "American Teen", Stacy Peralta's gang film "Made in America", Tia Lessin and Carl Deal's New Orleans portrait "Trouble the Water", the slavery docu "Tales of the Trade" and Chris Waitt's first-person "A Complete History of My Sexual Failures" debut in Park City.
Saturday afternoon also will see one of the most commercial and expensive movies ever to bow at the fest: 2929 Entertainment's $30 million-plus production "What Just Happened?" a Hollywood comedy-drama directed by Barry Levinson that stars such A-listers as Robert De Niro and Bruce Willis.
