The first reviews for Paramount Pictures' animated prequel movie, Transformers One, are in, and they are (mostly) very positive indeed - which is somewhat surprising given the mixed-negative reactions to the trailers.
The story focuses on legendary foes Optimus Prime (then known as Orion Pax) and Megatron (then named D-16) before they became sworn enemies as leaders of their respective Transformer factions, the Autobots and Decepticons.
Chris Hemsworth (Thor) voices Pax, with Brian Tyree Henry (Eternals) as D-16, and the movie introduces the two then-friends as simple worker bots, unable to transform into their vehicle and weapon forms. As they assemble a group of fellow warriors to do battle against a mysterious, plant-like villain, they gain the ability to become "Robots in Disguise."
Though some critics weren't quite as won over by this family-friendly adventure as others (there are a couple of negative verdicts), it sounds like the studio has...

When George Lucas debuted his science fiction epic about a galaxy far far away in 1977, Star Wars went from a long-shot space opera into the highest grossing science fiction franchise of all time. Almost 50 years and one sale to entertainment conglomerate Disney later, Star Wars isn’t just a one-off world. There have been prequels, reboots, stand-alone television series, and an in-depth theme park addition. But like most popular culture, the Star Wars fandom, especially online, has become inundated with loud, conservative, and in some cases, incredibly racist voices. While...

The very first reactions to Alien: Romulus actually hit last week, but they were from fans who had attended an early screening. Now, critics have shared their thoughts on Fede Alvarez's film prior to the full review embargo lifting tomorrow evening.
Though these reactions are still pretty positive, they aren't quite as hyperbolic.
Nobody here is calling Romulus the "best movie in the franchise", but it certainly sounds as if director Fede Alvarez has done a great job of tapping into the visceral terror and claustrophobic chills of Ridley Scott's original and James Cameron's more action-heavy sequel.
While none of the posts are outright negative, the last act is said to be a "big swing" that's sure to divide fans, and Alvarez may also rely a little too heavily on fan-service.
Full reviews drop tomorrow evening, but regardless of the critical consensus, Romulus is looking at a...

The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable director M. Night Shyamalan's latest movie, Trap, arrives in theaters today, and the review embargo has only just lifted.
This isn't usually a great sign, and sure enough, the serial killer flick starring Josh Hartnett is currently sitting at 44% on Rotten Tomatoes with 39 verdicts added.
Despite the "rotten" score, quite a few critics have been defending the movie on social media, although most seem to agree that - like a lot of Shyamalan films - the plot starts to get far too convoluted and preposterous in the final act.
Still, Hartnett is said to give a great performance, and it sounds like Trap is an effective enough cat-and-mouse thriller for the majority of its run-time.
Worth catching on the big screen or waiting for streaming? Have a read through some of the reactions/reviews below, and let us know in the comments section.

Marvel’s Morbius has utterly disappointed its fans, while the film built immense hype when its trailers were dropped, promising a fresh take in the vampire genre, taking place in the superhero universe. However, when the film was released on the big screens, it became evident that the film was far from the lofty expectations set by the fans and the critics. The film is incohesive and fails to leave any lasting impact on its viewers.

However, 2 years after the Jared Leto starrer, Martin Scorsese has given his take on the supernatural film. Well, that’s what Tyrese Gibson believed, as he became a victim of a hilarious prank done by the trolls, where the actor believed that the renowned filmmaker had given his ultimate take on the Jared Leto starrer.

Director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two is yet to hit the theaters but if the early reviews are any indication, the audience is in for one hell of a treat. Starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya in the lead roles, the sequel had a lot of expectations attached to it after fans absolutely loved its predecessor. Now, it is safe to say that the upcoming film has not only met all the expectations but has surpassed them.
Dune: Part Two (2024)
Taking the word of the people who had the privilege of watching the early screenings of Dune: Part Two, the film demands to be seen at IMAX. The stunning visuals, the gripping soundtrack, the captivating acting; every single aspect of the sequel appears as if it was specially designed to be experienced only and only on the screens of IMAX.

“Top Gun: Maverick” just screened at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and the film appears to have taken the audience’s breath away.
Initial reactions are positively glowing, praising director Joseph Kosinski’s approach to the film’s aerial flight sequences and action while also acknowledging that the sequel is surprisingly emotional.
Starring Tom Cruise, who reprises his role as Maverick from the 1986 film, the sequel will fly into theaters May 27, 2022. Val Kilmer will also reprise the role of “Iceman.”
“#TopGunMaverick is a profound cinematic experience and easily the best film of the year,” TheWrap’s Drew Taylor wrote. “What Kosinski, @chrismcquarrie, @eddiehamilton and of course @TomCruise have accomplished is epic and intimate, heart stopping and heartbreaking. However good you think it’ll be, it’s better.”
“Deadpool” co-creator Rob Liefield is “Stunned at how absolutely outstanding” the film is, praising its “Perfect page, thrills, cast, chemistry!!!” and calling it “One...

It’s been rumored before, but now it’s essentially confirmed. The Hollywood Reporter shared today that Alfred Molina is reprising his role as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 3. The British actor – who memorably played Otto Octavius opposite Tobey Maguire’s wall-crawler in Spider-Man 2 – is just the latest legacy star of the franchise to return for the threequel. And it’s fair to say that Marvel fans are losing it over the news.
For one thing, Molina’s Doc Ock is among the most beloved supervillains in the genre, so it’s amazing to hear that we’ll be getting more of him. Not only that, but it’s also exciting for the character to return as part of the bigger tapestry of the live-action Spider-Verse that seems to be unfolding. In fact, can’t be long until we find out for certain that Maguire and Andrew Garfield are coming back,...

While some can quickly dissolve into toxic, unproductive arguments, we have to admit, we like it when a fanbase comes together for lighthearted, interesting discussions. Take for instance, the Star Wars franchise.
Since the release of The Rise of Skywalker, you don’t have to look far to find ardent fans arguing over the Sequel Trilogy, but every so often, you’ll come across a lighthearted conversation which hasn’t been plagued with vitriol. We can only assume that was what the folks behind the official Star Wars Twitter account were aiming for when they took to the platform to talk about one of the franchise’s most beloved films.
For those who aren’t aware, The Empire Strikes Back celebrated its 40th anniversary earlier this week, and to commemorate the occasion, two StarWars.com writers had a frank discussion about the film’s best scene. This conversation was shared on Twitter,...

Fox Sports football color commentator Joel Klatt incurred the wrath of Twitter on Saturday when he mixed up the Marvel and DC Universes while calling a college football game.
“To throw the ball down the field is virtually impossible against Superman and the Avengers,” Klatt said of Ohio State’s defense. Of course, almost everyone knows Superman is part of the DC Universe, while the Avengers belong to the Marvel Universe. Everyone but Klatt, it seems.
If Klatt had any nerd cred, he’d know that Superman is a member of the Justice League, but perhaps he skipped the 2018 team-up movie (don’t even ask him about the Synder Cut). And somehow, the biggest grossing movie of all time, “Avengers: Infinity War.”
