When Black Adam star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson returned to WWE in January, most fans assumed it would be another one-off appearance from the Brahma Bull.
Those have been the norm in recent years, with it becoming apparent some time ago that he seemingly had no real plans to get back into the ring for a long-discussed match pitting him against cousin Roman Reigns. Given his continued Hollywood success, that wasn't overly surprising and, ultimately, the movie business meant he had neither the time nor inclination to wrestle again.
However, the end of January saw The Rock join the board of Tko Holdings (WWE and UFC's parent company) and regain the rights to his in-ring name. He also quickly returned to TV and took Cody Rhodes' place in his WrestleMania match against Reigns.

Sylvester Stallone may be brought to WrestleMania Xl, the 40th edition of the supershow, which is set for Philadelphia on April 6 and 7, according to WrestleVotes.
There is interest in working with Stallone “in some form”, according to the report, and WWE sources “hope” that the partnership will work out. However, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the actor informed WWE of a scheduling conflict, suggesting that this optimism may have been misplaced. Until he can or wishes to end the conflict, the actor will not attend WrestleMania.

Cody Rhodes, the two-time Royal Rumble winner, is currently riding high with his elevation to the main event of WrestleMania 40. Originally, his match against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship wasn’t a part of the plan, as the ‘Tribal Chief’ was scheduled to face The Rock.
Cody Rhodes and The Rock
However, due to overwhelming backlash from the WWE Universe and immense support for Cody, WWE was compelled to rearrange the match against Reigns. This underscores that ‘The American Nightmare’ is currently the most beloved WWE performer and it appears he got some unexpected support for standing up against The Rock.

In a recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes gave up his WrestleMania 40 main event spot to The Rock, sparking significant backlash. However, the dynamics changed up during the WrestleMania 40 kickoff press conference, introducing a lot of drama to the situation. Now, it appears Triple H pulled out all the stops to keep Cody Rhodes in the game after The Rock returned.
The Rock and Cody Rhodes on Friday Night SmackDown
Fans definitely want to see The Rock vs Roman Reigns at some point in time, but they most definitely did not want that to happen at the expense of Cody Rhodes’ story. That was how it seemed it would turn out on Friday Night SmackDown, but things have thankfully changed course for the better, at WrestleMania 40.

WWE is continuing to deal with fallout from sexual-abuse allegations facing its former longtime chief Vince McMahon, with shares in parent Tko Group Holdings slipping Monday as investors weigh the potential downside.
Shares in Tko fell 4.4% today on nearly twice their normal trading volume, closing at $82.73. The stock is well below the level where it began trading last September after the merger of WWE with the UFC in a newly public entity controlled by Endeavor Group Holdings. One prominent Wall Street firm earlier Monday flagged “brand and legal risk” to Tko from the lawsuit filed against McMahon and former WWE talent chief John Laurinaitis by former employee Janel Grant, who offered graphic details in laying out accusations of sex trafficking, battery and rape.
McMahon, who in 2022 disclosed paying more than $12 million to multiple women to resolve other sexual misconduct complaints, has denied Grant’s claims.

The WWE Network streaming service will shutter at the end of 2024, as all of its content will move to Netflix outside the United States.
The WWE is officially coming to the world’s largest streaming service. Earlier this week, Netflix and the WWE agreed to an international deal that will see “Monday Night Raw” air live on Netflix every week for the next decade in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and other territories — although, the “Monday Night” part of the name might need to be changed. Outside the U.S., the deal also means that WWE titles like “SmackDown,” “Nxt” and live premium events will also move to Netflix, but where does that leave the on-demand WWE Network?

The wrestling promotions major monthly events currently air on Peacock in the US, but could they be on the move?
It was inevitable that things would change once the WWE was acquired by Endeavor, the parent company of mixed-martial arts promotion UFC. With the majority of the wrestling federation’s media rights set to expire over the next few years — beginning in fall 2024 — the company is now exploring a number of alternatives to its current partnerships. In September, it was announced that one of the organization’s flagship weekly events, “WWE Smackdown,” would be moving from Fox to the USA Network. Earlier this week, the WWE announced that its developmental promotion “WWE Nxt” would move from USA to The CW. Now, one wrestling insider is reporting that the WWE’s flagship show “Monday Night Raw” is potentially headed to Disney-owned FX.

Several wrestlers expressed frustration with WWE for being stranded in Saudi Arabia ...
As WWE wrestlers arrived at Raw yesterday, more information was coming out as to why so many wrestlers were stuck in Saudi Arabia over the weekend and nearly missed SmackDown on Friday.
According to multiple reports, WWE is still owed hundreds of millions of dollars by the Saudi government for shows that were held last year. Without receiving payment, WWE chairman Vince McMahon reportedly made the call to pull the plug on the broadcast of Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia (part of the deal with the Saudis is that the show is shown for free in the country). Reports suggest that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman ordered the WWE charter flight held up in retaliation.

Despite hiring new executive producers, Vince McMahon is reportedly still ruling with an iron fist ...
Perhaps there is a reason the Roman Reigns-Daniel Bryan storyline that has played out on SmackDown the last several weeks has almost zero semblance of sense to it.
According to veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE CEO Vince McMahon ripped up the SmackDown script about four hours before Tuesday night's show and re-wrote the program himself.
Vince was tearing up tonight's show. Good or bad, this is a heavy Vince show tonight.
— Dave Meltzer (@davemeltzerWON) August 27, 2019
Let's summarize through the Reigns-Bryan storyline over the last several weeks and see if it makes any sense to you.
First, Reigns was attacked backstage at a WWE event — he had a set of staging pushed over on top of him — and then he was run down by a car in a parking lot during a Raw.

The entire structure of Nxt could change if WWE moves the show to USA Network against Aew ...
WWE's Nxt brand, at its core, works with hardcore wrestling fans because it's inherently different from WWE's big brands of Raw and SmackDown. The show tapes from Full Sail University, a smaller and much more intimate setting compared to WWE's large arena productions for its "main roster" shows.
Nxt airs on WWE Network and is one-hour long. Oftentimes, the biggest stars on the brand don't even appear on the show weekly. If they do, they rarely wrestle. Nxt is a throwback to when pro wrestling was booked at a much slower pace, and it was built around the big shows.

I’m Nathan Favel and we have a packed hour to get to, so let’s make like The Force Awakens and steal all of our ideas from A New Hope/actual Star Wars movie. It’s Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. Don’t give me an episode number. Okay, Nxt UK starts…yesterday. This is a little late. No episode numbers. The UK Awakens. There. That works.
