Redd Kross are one of the longest-running bands Los Angeles has spawned in its history, with a career that launched in the city’s late 1970s punk scene, carried into the power-pop era of the 1980s, then into the alt-rock boom of the ‘90s and straight into the present — the band released a new album just last month.
While Redd Kross never quite broke through — make that haven’t yet broken through — in as big a way as many thought they deserved, the band has a formidable discography, they’ve always put on enormously entertaining live shows, and the brothers are some of the funniest, most gossip-spewing interviewees one could ever hope for. Equally influenced by punk, Kiss, the Partridge Family and pop culture — their first single was called “Linda Blair” — the group reveled in a self-deprecating kitsch and level of humor that flew in the face of nearly every...

Reviews like this are tough, because a movie like Return of the Living Dead has been discussed-to-death on the internet for at least the last two decades. What can one possibly say that another hasn’t already? In addition to that, this is also the third Blu-ray release of the film I have seen. There was the disappointing MGM release in 2010, and then much better Second Sight release from the UK that dropped in 2012 and resurrected the original audio track containing the songs that were cut from the Us release. And here comes Scream Factory to topple them all. Sorry to spoil my review, but this is the definitive Blu-ray release of Return of the Living Dead. I have never seen this movie look so beautiful in all the years I have watched it. Couple with that, the fact that there are several audio options for you to choose from,...

Fontana, California — Travis Barker was born in Fontana, making it a sure bet that he felt a sense of homecoming as Blink-182 made their only North American appearance of the year at California's Epicenter 2010 Festival in that very town. The trio's hit-packed set closed the two-day event on Sunday following performances from Rise Against, 30 Seconds to Mars, Against Me! and more.
Afternoon temperatures reached 110 degrees in the racetrack parking lot where Epicenter took place, but the crowd's enthusiasm never seemed to wane, thanks in part to a steady stream of water misters and water cannons. Epicenter 2010 kicked off Saturday with Eminem (in his only West Coast appearance this year), Kiss and reunited alt-rockers Bush, among others.
