The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Saga received an orchestral treatment in a show that debuted Friday night at the Hollywood Bowl, complete with a “Fantastic Four” post-credits tease. Following fireworks closing out a look back at the MCU films that culminated in “Avengers: Endgame,” composer Michael Giacchino ran out with some music for famed conductor Gustavo Dudamel, asking if they could take just… “four more minutes.”
When Giacchino turned around to exit the stage and watch, the crowd could see his blue sportcoat featured a Fantastic Four logo on the back. The orchestra then debuted the theme to the much-anticipated film, set for release on July 25, 2025.
The score has a jaunty vibe, perhaps a bit reminiscent of the “Ant-Man” score, but with its own retro vibes befitting the rumored 1960s setting of the project. The tune blends a dreamy sense with future-looking heroic optimism, along with elements that echo...

One of the best ongoing Marvel comic books of 2024 will soon have a new chapter. The comic in question? "Ultimates" as written by Deniz Camp, which will release its fourth issue on Wednesday, September 4. Marvel has shared an exclusive preview of the first four pages with /Film.
The book is the fifth series in the so-called "Ultimate" universe. In 2000, Marvel rebooted its characters for the new millennium, running the "Ultimate" Spider-Man, X-Men, etc. alongside the classic versions. In 2023, it brought back the retired "Ultimate" branding for a similar publishing initiative — a reboot of a reboot. (I promise that you don't need all this background memorized to enjoy the new Ultimate Marvel.)
"Ultimates" is a direct sequel to kick-off mini-series "Ultimate Invasion" by Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch. In "Invasion," the Maker (an evil Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic from the original "Ultimate" universe) creates a new world and rewrites history to...

If there's a big tentpole property on television or film, chances are high that Pedro Pascal is either in it or was at one point, up for a role.
It seems whenever there's a major role to be cast, Pascal's name inevitably surfaces at some point.
Case in point, he'll be seen in Avengers: Doomsday which is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026, and The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is slated to arrive in theaters on May 22, 2026- arguably the two biggest films releasing that year.
And those films will come after Pascal has been seen in The Wild Robot, Gladiator II, season 2 of The Last of Us, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
As someone who can seemingly join any franchise he wants,THR asked Pascal why he said yes to the McU's Fantastic Four reboot.

Undoubtedly, the biggest shock of the night from Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at Sdcc was the news that Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the MCU. However, he won't be returning as Tony Stark, instead, he'll be portraying an alternate universe version of Doctor Doom.
Downey Jr.'s Doom is confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, however, online rumors have already swirled that Rdj's new character will actually show up first in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Several online scoopers are reporting that they received inside info about Downey's return but didn't feel confident enough to post the news before Marvel made the official announcement.
Collider caught up with The Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman, shortly after the Sdcc panel and asked whether he knew about Robert Downey Jr.'s return, prior to the Hall H extravaganza.
"It’s incredible exciting.

Marvel’s First Family assembled at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday evening. A concept reel for the inaugural “Fantastic Four” installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was unveiled to Hall H attendees after an introduction by director Matt Shakman, giving fans a taste of the Space Age aesthetic that will be incorporated into the superhero feature. A title was also revealed: “The Fantastic 4: First Steps.”
“We’re doing a retro-future ’60s. Syd Mead was an inspiration. The ’60s, to me, is all about optimism,” Shakman told the audience, expanding on the film’s period setting while referencing the influential designer. “I love the Fantastic Four. Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm was the best thing about Tim Story’s duo of Fantastic Four films, which failed to impress the critics. Fans rewatching the film would notice that he gave a performance that didn’t remind them of his iconic Captain America role even for a second. As Human Torch, Evans gave off a cocky attitude, which aligns with the description of the character as a reckless superhero.

We reported previously that Marvel was returning to the San Diego Comic-Con (Sdcc) later this month. Many are speculating about what Marvel may promote during the panel and now we might have an idea about one potential IP.
While the obvious answer is “Deadpool & Wolverine,” along with films and shows that will be released before Sdcc 2025, like “Captain America: Brave New World” and “The Thunderbolts*), we now know that the “Fantastic Four” will likely be discussed as the characters are featured on Sdcc banners.

The Fantastic Four has been rumored to take place in a completely separate universe for the MCU, before making the jump to the Sacred Timeline during the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. There is yet to be official confirmation about whether this is actually going to be the case, but if true, The Fantastic Four will be able to deliver a cliffhanger as big as the one we saw in Avengers: Infinity War.

If Marvel’s The Fantastic Four does indeed take place in a separate universe, this allows the film to take a more liberated approach with its story, as the film would not be beholden to all the development of the mainline MCU. This could encourage the film to deliver a cliffhanger like that of Avengers: Infinity War, which could see the Fantastic Four lose to the antagonist of the film,...

With the studio set to introduce Marvel’s first family Fantastic Four in the MCU, fans are revisiting the previous adaptations of the superhero team, including Josh Trank’s 2015 reboot boasting a stellar cast including Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell. There is no denying that the film has not been the best the superhero genre has to offer and fans have now noted one glaring flaw that further compounds its shortcomings.

The superhero team has always been defined as Marvel’s first family. However, the 2015 reboot film doesn’t seem too keen to follow the concept as two of the leading characters Susan Storm and The Thing hardly have a conversation in the movie.

Marvel’s Fantastic Four has lived through several iterations. In 1994, the first ambitious Fantastic Four life-action was made starring Alex Hyde-White, Rebecca Staab, and Jay Underwood, with Joseph Culp playing Doctor Doom. However, the movie was never released. While the Chris Evans-starrer Fantastic Four movie series was popular among fans, there was an attempt from Fox to reboot the franchise in 2015 with a roster of a talented cast.

Although a majority of the critics seemingly deemed it unworthy, the original Fantastic Four film series is still regarded as one of the best adaptations ever created. This is because even though a lot of people had issues with the plotlines, pretty much no one had any issues with the cast which included Chris Evans’ widely acclaimed fan-favorite embodiment of the Human Torch as well.
The original Fantastic Four cast from the early 2000s.
In fact, Evans’ performance as Johnny Storm so deeply influenced the viewers that even someone like Joseph Quinn, who would be continuing the character’s legacy in the upcoming reboot, couldn’t help but praise him. But while he holds him in wide regard, Quinn has also made it clear that his portrayal of Johnny wouldn’t be the same, but rather, something he creates on his own.

When the Silver Surfer makes his debut in the MCU, he will now be a she.
Only a few hours after winning its proxy battle against Nelson Peltz, it’s been confirmed that the MCU version of the Silver Surfer will not be Norrin Radd, but rather his lover Shalla-Bal, empress of Zenn-La.
The female Silver Surfer will be played by Julia Garner of Ozark fame.
In the comics, Norrin Radd becomes the herald of Galactus to save his love and his homeworld from being devoured by the world eater.
Disney likely knew this would be a very unpopular decision among Marvel Comics fans, as the Surfer is a beloved character who has starred in his own animated series, a movie, and even video games. That could factor into why they waited to drop the news until after the proxy battle was over, as the rest of the Fantastic Four cast has already been announced.

Appearing in Marvel comics; Franklin Richards is usually depicted as a supporting character in Fantastic Four and has been portrayed as a child and as a novice superhero. The character is known to be an immensely powerful being with vast reality-manipulating and psionic powers beyond Omega-level mutants, despite not being a mutant himself.
Franklin Richards first appeared in 1968’s Fantastic Four Annual #6, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, but was given the name two years later in Fantastic Four #94 in 1970. An older version of the character didn’t appear in Marvel’s Fantastic Four until April 1996. He has remained a recurring cast member of the Fantastic Four comic book from 2007 to 2009. The character is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel comics who go on to revive Galactus and make him his herald.

Frantic anticipation surrounds the recently-announced "Fantastic Four" Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot — which has been in the works for a while and a long time coming — that is set to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025. While that is a pretty long wait time, good things should be allowed to gestate at their own pace, especially when a potential 1960s setting could veer the project in interesting directions. The Fantastic Four were one of the first Marvel Comics superhero groups to introduce a sense of realism into the genre's hyperreal narratives, with creators Stan Lee and Jack Kirby focusing on the personal motivations of the team's individual members on a deep, nuanced level. As the reboot has the chance to reinforce what makes these comic book characters so special and refreshing, the hype surrounding the film is more than warranted.

This past Wednesday Marvel Studios made a very special casting announcement via their social media platforms. It was a gift much sweeter and tasty than any Valentine’s Day candy sampler. And it’s been in the works for nearly five years. That’s when Disney officially purchased Fox Studios, which finally brought one of the most celebrated Marvel Comics into the “fold”. In the years before the 2008 launch of Marvel Studios, some of their characters were licensed out to several different studios. Sony still has Spidey, while Daredevil, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four were then at Fox. Would you look at that gorgeous Galactus art from Christian Ward? Marvelous! One day after learning that Pedro Pascal is in talks to join the cast of Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four as the stretchy omega-genius Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), a new rumor suggests Javier Bardem could play the world-eating villain Galactus in the anticipated superhero epic.
The tip hails from industry insider Jeff Sneider, who says the same source that alerted him to Pascal’s possible involvement with the film says Marvel is eyeing Bardem for the classic larger-than-life villain. Sneider says Bardem could be out of the running because of a scheduling conflict with Apple and Joseph Kosinski’s F1 movie starring Brad Pitt, but that doesn’t mean he’s out. Bringing Galactus to the silver screen likely means voice-over and motion capture work for Bardem. Still, elements of the production could require him to be on set.
