This list is of my favorite actors ranging from classics like Jimmy Stewart to modern actors like Daniel Day Lewis. This list ranked by the actors birth date so I won't have to go through the pain of ranking them.

1. John Wayne

Actor | True Grit

John Wayne was born Marion Robert Morrison in Iowa, to Mary Alberta (Brown) and Clyde Leonard Morrison, a pharmacist. He was of English, Scottish, Ulster-Scots, and Irish ancestry.

Clyde developed a lung condition that required him to move his family from Iowa to the warmer climate of southern ...

The Duke is simply the best. Whether it's a western or army movie you can always count on John Wayne to take care of business. He made so many great movies it is hard to name any specific ones. The Searchers and The Shootist are two great ones though. Wayne was a great person as well. Always patriotic, he also refused to shoot any one in the back in any of his films. He may not be the technically greatest actor on this list, but he is probably my personal favorite.

2. James Stewart

Actor | Vertigo

James Maitland Stewart was born on May 20, 1908, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, to Elizabeth Ruth (Johnson) and Alexander Maitland Stewart, who owned a hardware store. He was of Scottish, Ulster-Scots, and some English descent. Stewart was educated at a local prep school, Mercersburg Academy, where he ...

A great classic actor, he has played in many of my favorite films. Rear Window is great, as is Vertigo and the Flight of the Phoenix. Another great person, he was in the Air Force during WW2, and was eventually given the honorable rank of Brig. General.

3. Charlton Heston

Actor | Ben-Hur

With features chiseled in stone, and renowned for playing a long list of historical figures, particularly in Biblical epics, the tall, well-built and ruggedly handsome Charlton Heston was one of Hollywood's top leading men of his prime and remained active in front of movie cameras for over sixty ...

The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur, and The Planet of the Apes. Heston has made a wide range of films, some of which are in the competition for best of all time. Whether is was the tough guy or Moses, Heston was amazing. He isn't mentioned enough when it comes to being in the best actors.

4. Clint Eastwood

Actor | Million Dollar Baby

Clinton Eastwood Jr. was born May 31, 1930 in San Francisco, to Clinton Eastwood Sr., a bond salesman and later manufacturing executive for Georgia-Pacific Corporation, and Ruth Wood (née Margaret Ruth Runner), a housewife turned IBM clerk. He grew up in nearby Piedmont. At school Clint took ...

Clint is another actor I absolutely love. Some of his best films include a Fistful of Dollars, Unforgiven, and Gran Torino. However it is The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly the is the best of them all, I would say a top 10 movie all time. He has made a great career as a director as well. Directing such films as Mystic River and Million Dollar Baby.

5. Sean Connery

Actor | The Rock

The tall, handsome and muscular Scottish actor Sean Connery is best known as the original actor to portray James Bond in the hugely successful movie franchise, starring in seven films between 1962 and 1983. Some believed that such a career-defining role might leave him unable to escape it, but he ...

Sean Connery is James Bond. I like Craig too, but Bond is Connery's. Goldfinger is still the best of that franchise. Mr. Connery has done a lot of other work as well. This includes his Oscar winning role in the Untouchables, playing Indiana Jones dad in The Last Crusade, and a defecting Russian in The Hunt for the Red October.

6. Anthony Hopkins

Actor | The Silence of the Lambs

Anthony Hopkins was born on December 31, 1937, in Margam, Wales, to Muriel Anne (Yeats) and Richard Arthur Hopkins, a baker. His parents were both of half Welsh and half English descent. Influenced by Richard Burton, he decided to study at College of Music and Drama and graduated in 1957. In 1965, ...

Hopkins might be best known for his work as Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. He was phenomenal in that film, but has done great work in many others as well. A Bridge Too Far is an underrated WW2 film that he played a Colonel in. The Edge is a great film about surviving in the wilderness after a plane crash. I am always interested when I hear the Anthony Hopkins is in a movie.

7. Harrison Ford

Actor | Raiders of the Lost Ark

Harrison Ford was born on July 13, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, to Dorothy (Nidelman), a radio actress, and Christopher Ford (born John William Ford), an actor turned advertising executive. His father was of Irish and German ancestry, while his maternal grandparents were Jewish emigrants from Minsk, ...

Harrison Ford might be the best action adventure star ever. Han Solo and Indiana Jones are both some of cinema's best characters. The Fugitive is another great film he made. Other good ones include Air Force One and his two as Jack Ryan.

8. Liam Neeson

Actor | Kinsey

Liam Neeson was born on June 7, 1952 in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, to Katherine (Brown), a cook, and Bernard Neeson, a school caretaker. He was raised in a Catholic household. During his early years, Liam worked as a forklift operator for Guinness, a truck driver, an assistant architect and an ...

Liam Neeson has had quite a career comeback recently, as an action star no less. This primarily had to do with his role in the film Taken. He is also well known for his role in Star Wars Episode I. Other good films he has played in include Kingdom of Heaven and Batman Begins. The highlight of his career continues to be Schindler's List. A powerful film that he was great in.

9. Daniel Day-Lewis

Actor | There Will Be Blood

Born in London, England, Daniel Michael Blake Day-Lewis is the second child of Cecil Day-Lewis, Poet Laureate of the U.K., and his second wife, actress Jill Balcon. His maternal grandfather was Sir Michael Balcon, an important figure in the history of British cinema and head of the famous Ealing ...

Daniel Day-Lewis might be the best actor working today. The Last of the Mohicans was the first film I saw him in. A great movie and he was great in it. A dedicated character actor well known for getting way into his roles, he obviously takes his job very seriously. He was also excellent in Lincoln, and the Gangs of New York. His performance in There Will Be Blood is my personal favorite however, just an incredible job in a great movie.

10. Russell Crowe

Actor | Les Misérables

Russell Ira Crowe was born in Wellington, New Zealand, to Jocelyn Yvonne (Wemyss) and John Alexander Crowe, both of whom catered movie sets. His maternal grandfather, Stanley Wemyss, was a cinematographer. Crowe's recent ancestry includes Welsh (where his paternal grandfather was born, in Wrexham),...

Gladiator is among my favorite movies, and Russell Crowe was a big part of that film. A Beautiful Mind might have been an even better performance. His other memorable performances include L.A. Confidential, American Gangster, Master and Commander, and 3:10 to Yuma.

11. Christian Bale

Actor | The Dark Knight

Christian Charles Philip Bale was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK on January 30, 1974, to English parents Jennifer "Jenny" (James) and David Bale. His mother was a circus performer and his father, who was born in South Africa, was a commercial pilot. The family lived in different countries ...

Batman has never been portrayed better on the big screen. Bale was great in all 3 of those movies, The Dark Knight might be my favorite movie of the last 10 years. Christian Bale has had many other great roles as well. The Fighter won him an Oscar, The Prestige is a great movie. He was good in Public Enemies and with Russell Crowe in 3:10 to Yuma as well.

12. Summer Glau

Actress | Serenity

Summer is a native of San Antonio, Texas. She's been a ballerina most of her life. Her debut was in various commercials and a guest appearance on the WB's Angel (1999). She has gone on to star on the TV series Firefly (2002) as well as its follow-up movie Serenity (2005) and the TV series ...

While I knew who she was, I hadn't seen much of Summer Glau's work till recently. She was excellent as River Tam in Firefly and Serenity, and is my personal favorite of the Terminators after seeing her as Cameron in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. She does good work in the more mediocre show The Cape too.

13. Ksenia Solo

Actress | Black Swan

Ksenia Solo is a Latvian-Canadian actress. She was born in Riga, Latvia in to an artistic family. She is a recipient of many prestigious Canadian awards, including 3 Gemini Awards and a nominee of the first ever Canadian Screen Awards. Ksenia was the youngest actor in Canadian television history to...

Ksenia Solo isn't as well known as the other's on my list, but she is one of my favorite young actresses working today. Started out doing dramatic work with roles like those on shows renegadepress.com, Life Unexpected, and a small one in the movie Black Swan. She took a more comedic turn on the show Lost Girl, though still with it's own share of drama. It is here she steals almost every scene she's in. I can't wait to see what she does next.
