In life, there are things we absolutely cannot change. These givens are boundaries we most often cannot cross (or defy), such as our prevailing culture, our social media, our political systems and their corruption... systems that manage such amazing power over us, that to oppose them is an immediate death sentence. Against such a radical foe, the only thing we CAN do is make the best of it.
Anything in life can be seen as a prison: the fact we must eat constantly to survive... that we need air to breathe... that we need money for food and clothing... marriage... children... taxes... we can be mad and angry over all of it. We might even try to rail against it; but to do so is to be overwhelmingly criticized, suddenly ostracized, or worse: violently opposed, expelled, or killed. Just ask anyone whose spoken out against a government, dictator or other corrupt entity in power. A man can be so small that he can easily be crushed by a corporation or other selfish body much larger than him. What can you do?
Make the best of it. "The Art of War" teaches that the best way to win a fight is to be sure you'll win the confrontation beforehand. If you simply cannot face the odds, then be happy with what you have. The movie "Life is beautiful" proves that, under any circumstances you can strive to be happy, and succeed. Don't let the captors consume you. Enjoy!
