Luca Guadagnino’s love triangle drama Challengers starts its UK-Ireland box office campaign this weekend through Warner Bros.
Opening in 702 sites with additional venues still being added, the film stars Zendaya, 2016 Screen Star of Tomorrow Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist in the story of three aspiring tennis professionals fighting both for championships and romantically.
Initially programmed as the opening film of last year’s Venice Film Festival, Challengers was withdrawn following the actors’ strike, which would have prevented its starry cast from promoting the release.

A young rookie cop faces the worst shift of her life in an abandoned police station. Here’s our review of the indie horror, Malum, in cinemas now.
Most of us have done nightmarish shifts at work. Regardless of your industry, no one is immune to a bad day. Maybe a customer yelled at you, you had to clean up a mess of something yucky, or perhaps everything that could go wrong, just went wrong.
Still: I doubt any of us have experienced quite as bad a shift as Jessica Loren does in Anthony Diblasi’s Malum.
Malum is in fact a remake, or more of a reimagining, of Diblasi’s 2015 film Last Shift. Remaking your own film less than 10 years after it was released might seem silly, but Malum manages to successfully squeeze more out of Last Shift’s deceivingly simple premise.
The basic idea and plot are the same in both films.

Hunt Her Kill Her is somewhat of a home invasion thriller but on a grander scale, set in the large landscape of a warehouse rather than the small confines of a traditional home, which adds more opportunity for differences from the traditional home invasion thriller.
Karen is a desperate young mother who has just filed divorce papers on her abusive husband. Forced to take a job as the night shift janitor at a large furniture factory, she is told she will be the only one working at this time. But, after seeing a strange vehicle idling in the parking lot and finding a door to the factory ajar, Karen gets the feeling she might not be alone after all.

Welcome Villain Films, a relatively new genre studios, has acquired North American rights to the gory thriller “Beaten to Death.”
The company plans to release the film in select theaters this summer with a digital release to follow.
Directed by Sam Curtain from a script he co-wrote with Benjamin Jung-Clarke, “Beaten to Death” unfolds after a desperate choice leads a man named Jack down a path that leaves him beaten and bruised as he struggles against man, nature, and his own insanity. According to the official logline, Jack, “stranded in the middle of nowhere after barely surviving a horrific assault, encounters one local after another and quickly learns that a sick game of cat and mouse is about to begin. Battling the deranged country psychos and the harsh landscape, Jack must go to extreme lengths to survive.”
“From the initial story inception, I wanted to achieve two things,” Curtain said.

There’s a lot to unpack with the release of the new music video for “Night Shift” by cherished indie rocker Lucy Dacus, also part of the supergroup boygenius with indie stars Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker.
Like Bridgers, who has become a massive breakout indie star, Dacus is really blossoming into a major indie-rock star. Case in point: she’s releasing a music video from an album that’s five years old now.

We’re all going down the yellow brick road for this whimsical take on Lucy Dacus’ “Night Shift.”
In honor of the Boygenius musician’s five-year album anniversary for “Historian,” hit breakup ballad “Night Shift” lands a long-awaited music video helmed by “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair” director Jane Schoenbrun and starring “Scream VI” breakout star Jasmin Savoy Brown.
Dacus appears in the music video as a motel manager on the night shift while a “Wizard of Oz”-themed party takes place around her. Brown plays Dorothy, who is missing one of her red ruby platform boots that Dacus fishes out from the hotel pool.
“Made with love,” director Schoenbrun tweeted, along with the credits for the short film, co-starring Phoebe Bridgers, Dacus’ fellow Boygenius band member.

For the fifth anniversary of her acclaimed sophomore LP Historian, Lucy Dacus has released a new video for the album’s cathartic opener, “Night Shift.” The clip comes ahead of a special red vinyl reissue of Historian, which will be out May 26th via Matador.
Starring Dacus and Yellowjackets star Jasmin Savoy Brown, the video was directed by Jane Schoenbrun (We’re All Going to The World’s Fair) and was filmed with a number of Dacus’ friends, including Liza Anne and E.R. Fightmaster. With symbolic references to The Wizard of Oz, it captures the uplifting spirit of strength and self-acceptance for which the tune has become so loved.
When the video reaches the song’s booming climax and Dacus’ croon repeats the refrain, “In five years I hope the songs feel like covers/ Dedicated to new lovers” over visuals of Dacus and Brown finding each other in the crowd, it’s...

When Lucy Dacus released “Night Shift” as the lead single to her sophomore album Historian in 2017, she told NPR it was the only breakup song she had ever written. Her heartbreak, the aftermath of the end of a five-year relationship with her former bassist, struck a chord with her audience. The record remains her most successful solo release to date. And now that another five years have passed, Dacus revisits that palpable heartache in the official music video for “Night Shift.”

According to a biography on Stephen King's website, the famous author's first short story was published in 1967 in an anthology paper called Startling Mystery Stories. His story was called "The Glass Floor," and King was only 18 years old. It was the first step in a decades-long literary career of overwhelming success, leading to 65 novels, 200 short stories, and dozens of feature film adaptations.
King's first major hit novel came in 1974 with the publication of "Carrie," a story about a repressed, abused teenage girl who finds that she may be developing psychic powers. Given how cruelly the world treats Carrie White, and how little her religious zealot mother wants to talk to her, an explosive, murderous conclusion was inevitable.
"Carrie" was adapted to the big screen in 1976 (seen above) by director Brian De Palma and screenwriter Lawrence D. Cohen, and it's one of the best adaptations of King's material. The film...

Stephen King’s short story “The Children of the Corn” has been catnip to horror filmmakers for nearly fifty years. Originally published in the March 1977 issue of Penthouse, the tale of a quarreling couple who stumble onto a murderous cult of children in a Nebraska cornfield was included the following year in King’s first short story collection Night Shift and subsequently adapted into a 1984 feature film directed by Fritz Kiersch. Night Shift also contains the source material for King classics such as The Mangler, Sometimes They Come Back, Maximum Overdrive, and the upcoming The Boogeyman, but none of the collection’s other 19 stories have had the staying power of “Children of the Corn.” Perhaps due to its evocative title implying barbaric pagan rituals or the eerie juxtaposition between childlike innocence and brutal murder, the original film has spawned eight sequels and two remakes over the course of four decades.

They’re back. Rlje Films presents the Stephen King reboot Children of the Corn by Kurt Wimmer on 500+ screens. It’s a redo of the classic 1984 slasher-horror film about kids possessed by a demonic spirit in a dying cornfield, with bloody, rampaging results.
King’s iconic short story features a 12-year-old Nebraska girl who recruits the kids in her small town for a killing spree of all the adults, and anyone else who opposes her. A bright high schooler who won’t go along with the plan is the town’s only hope of survival. There are some new twists, in Wimmer’s version, the corn is genetically modified. Starring Elena Kampouris, Kate Moyer, Callan Mulvey and Bruce Spence.
The story is great, spawning numerous spinoffs beginning with Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice in 1992 followed by Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest in 1995. Most went direct to video.

There have been dozens of films in which an innocent woman is forced to summon previously untapped toughness and resourcefulness to fend off a group of assailants. An early example is a blind Audrey Hepburn in Wait Until Dark whose home is invaded by thugs mistakenly thinking some drugs were stashed there. Among the grittier, bloodier explorations of the premise is 1978’s I Spit On Your Grave, which spawned a slew of sequels and imitators including its next-generation return bout, I Spit On Your Grave: DÉJÀ Vu, in 2019.
In Hunt Her, Kill Her, Natalie Terrazzino plays a woman on her first night as the janitor in a large industrial facility. She’s worried about her sick child left in the care of a neighbor. She starts hearing sounds that are troubling, since she’s supposed to be...
