It's no secret that the first third of 2024 has been at best uneven as far as the box office goes. Ticket sales are lagging way behind this same point in 2023, in no small part thanks to movies like "Abigail" and "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" underperforming on the same weekend. Thankfully, the summer movie season is on the horizon and Hollywood, as well as theater owners, will hinge their hopes on a varied slate being able to sell an outsized number of tickets. That all begins next weekend with the release of Universal's "The Fall Guy." The question is, can Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt strike gold in the summer season once again after last year's Barbenheimer phenomenon?
"The Fall Guy" will be the first blockbuster to hit theaters in May, which typically ushers in the summer for Hollywood. Currently, the big-budget action/comedy is looking at an opening weekend in the $40 million range,...

Although he began his screen career in 2014, Duke made his film debut in 2018 in the most iconic role of his career. Since then, seven of his eight movie credits have been critically favored. Duke has always been passionate about acting, having studied Theater at the University at Buffalo and receiving his Mfa from the Yale School of Drama. Movie audiences who have watched Winston Duke’s back-to-back performances would agree they have been nothing short of magnificent. His versatility has seen

Praise from a movie veteran like Steven Spielberg has to be more than anything an actor can wish for. After doing his most recent film, The Fall Guy, Ryan Gosling got the stamp of approval from the legendary director.

David Leitch’s The Fall Guy is an action-packed comedy with elements of thrill to complement the narrative starring Gosling and Emily Blunt. Jordan Peele has achieved, in a relatively short time, what many other directors only dream of achieving. Not only is Peele capable of crafting hits that deliver the goods both critically and commercially, but his name means something to audiences now. His ideas and his name are enough to sell a meaningful number of tickets, not unlike Quentin Tarantino or Christopher Nolan. It's rare air, and it's a powerful tool in Hollywood. There was a very specific moment where it became clear that Peele did, indeed, have this power, and it came in 2019 when "Us" hit theaters.
Before making himself known to the world as a visionary filmmaker, Peele broke out via comedy, primarily with his comedy sketch show "Key & Peele.

Catch another look at next month’s The Fall Guy, which has everything apart from Ryan Gosling singing. Here’s the new trailer:
Following his performance of I’m Just Ken at this month’s Oscars, Ryan Gosling is set to play another take on the ‘I’m just an overlooked dude’ character, this time as the amazingly-named Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy.
A new trailer has having landed for the action romance, out next month. And along with a Gosling voiceover – and a one-liner that raised our anticipation threefold – it looks like we’ll be seeing him do lots of stunt work as he portrays TV’s most famous fictional stuntman. It’s a big screen reimagining of the 1980s television show that starred The Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors.

Oscar nominees Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are the Barbenheimer comedy duo we didn’t know we’ve been waiting for in The Fall Guy. Trailer number two shows off more of the chemistry between Gosling and Blunt while also delivering more action, more humor, and enough shirtless Gosling scenes to keep audiences satiated until the film’s theatrical release on May 3, 2024.
Joining Gosling and Blunt in the action comedy are Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train), Winston Duke (Black Panther franchise), and Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once).
Drew Pearce (Hobbs & Shaw) wrote the screenplay, stuntman David Leitch directed, with Leitch, Gosling, Kelly McCormick, and Guymon Casady produced. Executive producers include Pearce, Geoff Shaevitz, and the creator of the original Fall Guy television series, Glen A. Larson.

With his triumphant Oscar night performance of 'I'm Just Ken' still ringing in our collective lug-holes, it's a good time to be Ryan Thomas Gosling. And given the positive buzz from its recent initial screening at the SXSW, signs are good for his next cinematic outing, The Fall Guy, to continue the era of Funny Gosling that anyone who loved The Nice Guys has been anticipating for years. Check out the latest trailer:
Set to a version of Journey's 'Any Way You Want It,' it's a funny blast of Ott action and Gosling being uber-charming with Emily Blunt. As for the film itself, it's the latest offering from David Leitch, who has shown a knack for blending action with laughs of late, especially with Bullet Train.

Buckle up because Universal Pictures has released a brand new trailer for "The Fall Guy." With a pair of huge stars in Ryan Gosling ("Barbie") and Emily Blunt ("Oppenheimer) at its center — both of whom are coming off of Oscars nominations for their work on two of 2023's biggest movies — this flick has summer blockbuster written all over it. A reboot of largely forgotten IP, a director who knows his way around action, and a couple of very charming stars? It's all here. Check out the trailer for yourself above.
Lots of action and lots of comedy at play here. David Leitch, whose previous credits include "Bullet Train" and "Deadpool 2," seems to be very much at home with the material, especially since he was a stuntman before becoming an A-list director. It looks, in a word, fun. That's because, for my money, it is a great deal of fun.

As Ryan Gosling took the mic for a special screening of his latest film “The Fall Guy,” the Oscar nominee was eager to salute the stunt community — in particular, to show off the record-breaking stunt that his double performed.
“There’s a gentleman who buckles me into a car — that’s Logan Holladay — for a stunt he’s about to do,” Gosling told the audience assembled at the Grove in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. “Then he goes on to do eight-and-a-half cannon rolls, which is a world record. And then he pulls me out of the car and pats me on the back for the stunt that he just did.”
That’s what makes “The Fall Guy” unique, Gosling explained. “In any other movie, you wouldn’t know that. But in this movie, you do. The lack of recognition [of] the contribution that they make to cinema, to some of...

In The Fall Guy, audiences are treated to a kinetic journey through the lens of Hollywood’s most daring yet often overlooked contributors: stunt performers. Starring an ensemble cast led by Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Stephanie Hsu, Winston Duke and Teresa Palmer, this film not only entertains with its action-packed sequences but also delves deep into the emotional and physical tolls endured by those who bring our favorite cinematic moments to life.
Drawing inspiration from Glen A. Larson’s 1980s TV series, The Fall Guy cleverly navigates the intersection between homage and reinvention. Where the ABC series celebrated the thrill and glamour of stunt work through the eyes of Lee Majors’ Colt Seavers, a stuntman moonlighting as a bounty hunter, Leitch’s film amplifies this concept by embedding the narrative within the fabric of contemporary filmmaking. Gosling’s portrayal of Colt as a stuntman mirrors the...

At this year’s Academy Awards, “The Fall Guy” stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt presented a video tribute to stunt performers that included clips ranging from the silent era up through recent action juggernauts like “Rrr” and the “Fast & Furious” series. It was a step forward for a group whose contributions are frequently undervalued despite, as Blunt put it, “risk[ing] life and limb” for cinema. And yet, the segment didn’t come with an award attached.

David Leitch’s Fall Guy has become highly anticipated ever since its trailer was released. On top of having soring reviews from audiences and critics alike, the film has an excellent story and a dream cast. It would seem, however, that the filmmaker’s past has had a significant influence on the movie, its plot, and who he wants to feature in it.
David Leitch’s The Fall Guy
Before becoming the respected filmmaker that he is today, Leitch was a very successful and well-known stuntman. His time as one seems to have had a great impact on him as not only does it affect how he makes his movies, but also what he makes them about.

The protagonist of David Leitch’s entertaining new action-comedy The Fall Guy doesn’t have many complaints about life as a stuntman. Sure, he does most of the hard work for half the recognition, but Colt Seavers (an ace Ryan Gosling) gets hype about jumping out of helicopters, diving off balconies and performing other dangerous physical feats that make movies look cool. He’s not an adrenaline junkie; he just understands the critical role stuntmen play on set.
Colt has been a stunt double for Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), an international superstar with a lethal combo of arrogance and insecurity, for six years. The two share the type of sacred bond that’s only possible with someone who is paid to risk major injury and possible death for you.

Plenty of classic TV shows have gotten the big-screen reboot treatment — among them Get Smart, 21 Jump Street, Baywatch, and, of course, Mission: Impossible. Bullet Train filmmaker and John Wick co-director David Leitch hopes to bring a new vision to the ‘80s series The Fall Guy with Ryan Gosling as its lead, but despite the best efforts of everyone involved, it ends up being just another underwhelming studio action flick.
In the film, Gosling plays a stuntman who gets pulled out of retirement to track down the missing star of his ex-girlfriend’s new film, only to be thrown into a complex web of conspiracies. With his background being in stunts, it’s understandable what Leitch likely saw in Drew Pearce and Glen A. Lawson’s script. Unfortunately, this potential is largely squandered on a middling entry to the genre.

Ryan Gosling and ‘The Fall Guy’ Director David Leitch Premiere Their “Love Letter” to Stunts at SXSW
Ryan Gosling and director David Leitch brought their ode to stunt performers, The Fall Guy, to the SXSW Film and TV Festival, where it was met with a very warm welcome.

There's something so carefully and deliberately old school about "The Fall Guy," director David Leitch's blockbuster take on the television show of the same name, that allows it to feel revolutionary. Like a cry from another era, this is a major motion picture built on the hope that audiences will want to see a cast of attractive, charming, interesting actors bounce off each other on screen, trading barbs and dashing looks. There's no franchise-building here, and no ambitions beyond offering the audience primal, pure pleasures.
