Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
A bizarre recurring issue with the Amityville “franchise” is that the films tend to be needlessly complicated. Back in the day, the first sequels moved away from the original film’s religious-themed haunted house storyline in favor of streamlined, easily digestible concepts such as “haunted lamp” or “haunted mirror.”
As the budgets plummeted and indie filmmakers capitalized on the brand’s notoriety, it seems the wrong lessons were learned. Runtimes have ballooned past the 90-minute mark and the narratives are often saggy and unfocused.
Both issues are clearly on display in Amityville Karen (2022), a film that starts off rough, but promising, and ends with a confused whimper.
The promise is embodied by the tinge of self-awareness in Julie Anne Prescott (The Amityville Harvest)’s screenplay,...

Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
The single biggest recurring question that has arisen over the course of this editorial series is “what constitutes an Amityville film?” It’s the basic impetus to go through all of these films chronologically, regardless of quality or connective tissue to the original film or the books.
It’s also why complaints in the comments that everything past a certain point (ie: either A New Generation or the remake* apparently) no longer qualifies are immaterial and frankly kinda boring. It’s always been more interesting to consider how and why filmmakers are using “Amityville” in their films – for better or worse.
* If the remake counts, then surely The Amityville Murders also counts, no?

Finally, after a wait so long people were wondering if it would ever happen, The Barn Part II, Justin M. Seaman’s sequel to 2016’s The Barn has finally arrived after a run of festival screenings and some limited theatrical showings. The question is, as with any long-delayed sequel, can it recapture what made the original so popular?
It certainly gets off on the right foot as Troop Leader Plums and his scouts sitting around the campfire fill the viewer in on the basic plot of the original as well as a few things we’ll need to know for the sequel, before finding out the hard way the stories were all true.

The original Don’t F*ck in the Woods was something of a viral sensation upon its release, thanks to both a successful crowdfunding campaign and That title. You’ve probably noticed that the “Amityville” franchise has been growing in some wacky ways in recent years, with that “Amityville” branding seemingly being slapped onto anything and everything. Long story short, these movies aren’t actually part of the Amityville Horror franchise, but rather they’re simply using the familiar name to grab your attention.
And it works, of course, with recent indie horror movies including Amityville in Space and The Amityville Moon getting coverage here on Bd because… how the hell can we not?!
Up next from this unofficial Amityville franchise is Amityville Thanksgiving, a brand new indie horror movie from director Will Collazo Jr. that’s just popped up on Amazon.
In Amityville Thanksgiving…
“Jackie (Natalie Peri) and Danny (Paul Faggione) are spending the holiday week in therapy instead of at the dinner table. Their marriage has taken a turn for the worst, and they turn to...

Bloody Summer Camp is the third film, and the third slasher, from writer/director David Kerr, so I think it may be fair to say he’s a fan of the genre. And, he certainly gets the film off to a proper start as two councillors on their way to Camp Trustfall suffer vehicle issues and find out just how dangerous the woods are at night.
Also in classic slasher style, we then join Tiffany (Kay Leahy) and her friend Kimberly (Chanda Rawlings) on their way to the camp, also to be councillors. Tiffany wants to give the kids the same fun times she had there as a child, Kimberly just wants to party. The other councillors include wheelchair-bound Donnie (Brendan Lynch), obnoxious jock Zach,...

A new film poster is available for horror thriller Scream Bloody Murder. Set to show worldwide soon, Scream Bloody Murder was developed by British producer Mem Ferda (Clownado) and Jared Safier (The Wrong Path) As well, this title was written by: Will Collazo Jr., Julie Anne Prescott and Thomas Watson. This title is a tribute to slasher films of the past, with the film set in a Cheerleaders' Academy. Here, a masked killer is stalking his victims and causing mayhem at the school Ferda has recently described Scream Bloody Murder. Compared to Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, Ferda says: "so many throwbacks are done for slasher films of the '80s, not not so much for the '90s." An homage to films of the past, Scream Bloody Murder will bring something new to the screen, later this year. As well Ferda said of director Shawn C. Phillips...

I’m not going to lie, I had absolutely no idea this film even existed, or was part of an unofficial offshoot of the Zombi series first started by Lucio Fulci. That film was an unofficial sequel to George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and had its own sequel, Zombi 3 some years later. And whilst the Italians released some unrelated films as Zombi 4 and 5, it would seem John (Sleepaway Camp superfan) Klyza’s Retrosploitation label has put out not one, not two, but Four “Zombi” films prior to this, which is part Eight of their series… Like I said, I had zero idea this film was even a thing until...

Pretty Boy just finished the Post Production with Company 3

“Filming Pretty Boy the way we did was a dream comes true for me. It is beautiful, fun, gory and creepy. Seeing our Killer, “Pretty Boy”, slashing through this love letter to the 80s is what I have always wanted to do! Also, as an LGBTQ Director, I could go crazy on set design for the Valentine’s party and overall theme in the movie, so be prepared for a lot of pinks, glitter and some intestines Lol!“
Joe Knetter (Writer)
“Filming Pretty Boy was an amazing experience. Every single person on the cast and crew brought their ‘A’ game.

Safier Entertainment, PhilaDreams Films and Cult Cinema LLC have announced that Scream Bloody Murder – starring Scout Taylor-Compton, Robert Lasardo, James Duval, Vernon Wells, Kelly Reiter, and Lauren Francesca – will start filming May 2021.
Scream Bloody Murder will be the first feature film from director, Shawn C. Phillips – aka YouTuber and actor Coolduder. Rounding out the great talent behind this production is executive producer, Will Collazo Jr.; editor/producer Navid Sanati; co-producer Julie Anne Prescott; and additional casting by Clapit. Says Phillips:
Its going to be a love letter to 90s slasher films in the style of Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. The movie will also have elements of films like Mean Girls as well as Revenge of the Nerds. So it will have some humor mixed in as well to the film.

"In this house... evil is everywhere." Lionsgate has released an official trailer for a direct-to-dvd horror film titled The Amityville Harvest, the latest from genre director Thomas J. Churchill. This film actually has nothing to do with the original Amityville movie or any of its sequels/prequels/rip-offs. It seems to have been made as a terrible vampire movie set inside a creepy house that was updated with the "Amityville" name because it's now in public domain. While staying at an aging manor to research its liquor-smuggling history, Christina and her documentary video team interview their spooky host Vincent but strangely no one can capture his image or voice on video. Hmm, I wonder if it's because he's a vampire? Maybe?! The film stars Sadie Katz, Paul Logan, Julie Anne Prescott, Eileen Dietz, Yan Birch, and Kyle Lowder as Vincent. I call this "strange" in the headline, but it really...

Where were all the super-fans in costume camping out for the Christmas Day premiere of Les Misérables like they do for every Star Wars and Twilight sequel? Where was the dedication?! Well, our own Julie Klausner had the spirit and prepared for the event by getting a makeover to look like Anne Hathaway's character Fantine — who's only in the film for about twenty minutes, but transforms from a pretty mother and factory worker to a prostitute with a shaved head and smudged lipstick and bruises. Watch as makeup artist Kenneth Llambelis gives Julie Anne's "after" look.

All children of 80's horror will certainly remember Blood Beach and Blood Diner, and now the good people at Graffiti Playhouse Productions bring us a vision of the undead invading a tourist-soaked ski resort entitled Blood Lodge. Again, for those of you, like me, who cut your teeth on 80's films, think Return of the Living Dead meets Hot Dog...The Movie, indie style.
Very little is available on Blood Lodge thus far. You can see the official trailer below or at the Blood Lodge website. And the film's Facebook page indicates that Vincent Pastore (that would be Big Pussy from "The Sopranos") and Jasmin St. Claire (that would be the porno Hall of Famer who rose to fame after a "Springer" appearance where she bragged about her film World's Biggest Gang Bang 2 (a sequel to the critically-acclaimed original), in which she sexually pleasured 300 men in a 24-hour period).

Damien Colletti is a young talent that has already been involved in movies, television and even professional wrestling and he's really just beginning. Check out what we talked about below, everything from how he got into the business to the cool projects he's working on now to his love of horror movies and Taco Bell.
Brian S- Hey Damien, first off how did you get into acting?
Damien- Acting was something I’ve always wanted to do and thought about. I remember watching Arnold Schwarzenegger’s films (Conan the Barbarian, Terminator, etc.) when I was younger and loving them. I thought to myself to be like Arnold would be the life and I’d love to do what he’s doing one day! Lol. My mother, Cathy Lyons Colletti, was a successful theater actress (also a produced playwright, published writer, and director) so I was around acting at a very...

They fell in love on the set of their new movie “The Last Song,” and Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth didn’t have much time to prepare for their first kiss.
The Aussie hunk told Ryan Seacrest he wasn’t quite ready to plant one on the “Hannah Montana” star, but it happened anyway.
"We turned up on set the very first day and originally it was just a scene where we were running through the water and splashing and having fun. And halfway through the scene, the director, Julie Anne [Robinson], she yelled 'Kiss!' And we got thrown into a kiss on the boat."
Liam added, "It was good, 'cause, you know, [you] get the first one out of the way, and it was fine."
And it wasn’t long until they sparked up a romance. "We were filming together every day, and hanging out every day. We really didn...

Just six months after losing her 16-year-old son Jett last January, Kelly Preston quietly decided to return to work by starring in The Last Song. She made the decision "because Miley [Cyrus] asked me herself to play her mom," Preston, 47, tells People. "I was really moved. It was the perfect movie to sort of get my feet wet."As they filmed the Nicholas Sparks drama in Tybee Island, Ga., last summer, "Julie Anne [Robinson, the director], Adam [Shankman, the producer] and Miley took such great care of me," says Preston, who brought her daughter Ella Bleu, 9, along for the trip. "They were wonderful with my schedule. I just worked a little bit.
