Jaqueline Bisset, the iconic British actress and star of the new drama Loren & Rose, discussed her experiences while making the film in an exclusive uInterview.
Loren & Rose follows the heartbreaking relationship of a young filmmaker, played by Kelly Blatz, and a famed actress, played by Bisset. When asked what drew her to the project, Bisset said that she immediately fell in love with her character.
“I found the role because of my friendship with a young filmmaker named Christopher Munch, with whom I did a movie called The Sleepy Time Gal and who was friends with Russell Brown, who directed Loren & Rose,” she explained.
“I wanted to play [Rose]. I wanted the uneven parts. I wanted the faults of this person… I was very excited to play this woman and I felt sorry for her. She had some rough times and I can really relate to some of it,...

Rose (Jacqueline Bisset) has a favourite restaurant, a little place in Topanga Canyon where the staff know how to please her and she can get her favourite aviation cocktail with a fresh violet floating on the top. Emerging director Loren (Kelly Blatz) knows this; he has done his research. Flushed with the success of a recent short, he’s in pre-production on his first feature, and he wants to persuade her to star in it. It’s a mutually appealing arrangement. He gets the star attraction of her name; she gets he first decent role for years. That’s he’s genuinely a fan of her work is just the icing on the cake. You’ll have to wait for the cake, though, as the film is divided (like many restaurant-set works before it) into courses. The trouble is that, like Rose, we’ve tasted them all before.

There’s no doubt that Jacqueline Bisset is a screen icon, but do we really need yet another meta commentary on the pitfalls of Hollywood with a lauded star as its only anchor? Bisset stars in “Loren and Rose,” written and directed by Russell Brown, and hitting select theaters after an extended tour of regional American film festivals. The drama follows aging starlet Rose (Bisset) who is looking to revive her career and takes multiple meetings with up-and-coming filmmaker Loren (Kelly Blatz) as he is casting his big break feature.
Within a few minutes of extreme exposition, Loren narrates that Rose’s most iconic role was playing a white nun who falls in love with a Black priest. Yet, Rose is best known to the public for playing the lead in pulpy sci-fi franchise “Mega Gators Mom.” Rose’s celebrity status, no matter which film of hers you love best,...

Jacqueline Bisset is an aging actress playing an aging actress in the feature “Loren and Rose,” which takes place almost entirely in a restaurant: her character meets with a young director (played by Kelly Blatz) who wants her for his next film. At 78, Bisset understands that festivals are necessary to promote films, even if she’s not here in New York, but back home in California. She is candid about the marketing of a film, acting and even an embarrassing look back at one of her biggest hits. No, it doesn’t involve a wet t-shirt or a car chase in the streets of San Francisco. The “silly girl” was a stewardess in love with Dean Martin. More on that in a moment. We begin with the conceit of “Loren and Rose”: acting as a reflection of real life.

The determination to win every competition and continuously show your talent isn’t the sole plot point that emotionally drives a sports film forward. Director Charles-Olivier Michaud powerfully showcased that perseverance in sports also requires connecting with those around you who support your goals and dreams in his new independent drama, ’4 Minute Mile.’ The film, which is now available in theaters and on VOD nationwide, smartly relies on the importance of uniting loved ones in times of emotional need, and how that influential bond can be just as important as the extensive training athletes utilize for their competitions. ’4 Minute Mile’ tells the inspirational story of Drew (Kelly Blatz), a [ Read More ]

Running is a very hard sport to depict onscreen. Without a rousing score by Vangelis or the horns of “Gonna Fly Now” blasting through the speakers, it is very hard for any filmmaker or actor to show off a character’s speed or endurance in a memorable way. Leg power does not often translate to emotional power on the screen, which is one of the many problems facing 4 Minute Mile, a sports drama that barely goes the distance to be either inspirational or inspired.

Before "4 Minute Mile" runs at the Seattle International Film Festival this year, Gravitas Ventures has nabbed the North American distribution rights. Richard Jenkins stars in the film, along with Kelly Blatz, Analeigh Tipton, and Kim Basinger. After getting manipulated into running drug payments to a local dealer, high school student Drew (Kelly Blatz) has nowhere to turn in a family with a deadbeat older brother and an overwhelmed single mom. Gravitas VP Mealnie Miller stated "'4 Minute Mile' is much more than a film about running." Gravitas plans for a theatrical release on August 1, 2014, with a pre-theatrical window starting July 1, 2014. ...

Two characters have just gone up in ashes on the "Chicago Fire" spinoff series.
NBC's "Chicago P.D." has just cut two actors from the cast: Scott Eastwood and Tania Raymonde. Both actors appeared in last season's backdoor pilot episode of "Chicago Fire" that introduced the spinoff series' cast, but they will not be moving forward with the spin-off, TVLine reports.
Both actors quietly departed the series over the summer for "creative reasons" along with previously exited cast members Melissa Sagemiller and Kelly Blatz. Sophia Bush, Patrick Flueger, and Jesse Lee Soffer joined the cast shortly afterwards.

First the Earth cooled, and then the dinosaurs came. Shortly after that we started talking about Marcus Nispel's upcoming film Backmask. Seriously, it's been about that long. Okay, so maybe we're exaggerating, but it sure feels like it!
Gage Golightly, Brittany Curran, Stephen Lang, Kelly Blatz, Brett Dier, Nick Nicotera, Nick Nordella, and Michael Ormsby star. Kirsten Elms penned the script that follows a group of teenagers who accidentally release an evil spirit that starts to possess them one by one.
Synopsis
During a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vintage record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it's revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message.

Burn, baby burn! We’re receiving more and more reports as the police-centric proposed Chicago Fire spin-off gains momentum. Showmakers are adding fuel to the fire with some hot young faces. This is a project to keep your eye on, folks. Today you can say hello to Kelly Blatz and Melissa Sagemiller. The two new actors join Scott Eastwood and Tania Raymonde, who we reported just yesterday were circling the new drama.
It’s difficult to top the Law & Order franchise when it comes to the police procedural, but there’s always room for another cop drama and anyway, the anticipated Chicago Fire spin-off has two advantages in that department. For one thing, the man himself, Mr. Dick Wolf will be ushering the new show along in the right direction. For another, the Law & Order empire has never delved too deeply into the police officers personal lives, which might be...

Exclusive: Kelly Blatz has joined NBC‘s proposed Chicago Fire spinoff, from Wolf Films and Universal TV. Blatz will guest star in the Chicago Fire freshman season finale, which serves as planted spinoff for a potential new drama series, a cop drama about the Chicago Police Department. Blatz will play the young but seasoned Officer Elam, a role that would be one of the leads of the potential spinoff. He joins recently cast Melissa Sagemiller, Tania Raymonde and Scott Eastwood. The Chicago Fire spinoff project is being developed by Chicago Fire creators/executive producers Derek Haas and Michael Brandt and executive producers Matt Olmstead and Wolf. It is still unclear which Chicago Fire actors would transfer to the spinoff series, with Jon Seda, who has been recurring as Chicago Pd Detective Antonio Dawson, considered a strong possibility. Blatz, repped by ICM Partners, Luber Roklin and Alan Hergott, recently starred in...

Although German helmer Marcus Nispel's last few projects haven't exactly set the horror fantasy world alight we're hoping he can get back up on the podium with his long awaited 'Backmask'. The horror fueled story of some dopey teenagers who manage to summon a demon by playing a record backwards stars the gorgeous Brittany Curran -below ('Men of a Certain Age') and the actress has Tweeted a pic of herself having a right bloody good time in the movie. Back in 2003 director Nispel swapped music videos for features and turned out the impressive remake for 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. Sadly ever since there's not been too much to shout about with the likes of adventure fantasies 'Pathfinder' and 'Conan the Barbarian' and the hugely subpar attempt at remaking iconic slasher flick 'Friday the 13th'. Stephen Lang, Kelly Blatz, Kevin Chapman, Gage Golightly...

I was going to kick off by saying “It’s been some time since Kim Basinger really graced our screens” — but that’s technically not true. While she hasn’t made an onscreen appearance in about two years — itself not such a long time — it was in the relatively successful Charlie St. Cloud, and that only came a few years after parts in The Informers, The Burning Plain, and The Sentinel. Even if you didn’t see those, there’s a fair chance you’ve heard of them. Shouldn’t that count for something?
And although I can’t say if One Square Mile might some kind of reintroduction into mainstream cinema, the actual film doesn’t sound half-bad. Richard Jenkins was, back in April, signed to lead the film, a drama about the important lessons an older man instills into a young boy (Kelly Blatz). • Shia Labeouf — apparently undeterred by the onslaught of “Shia Labuff” jokes in the wake of his full-frontal appearance in a recent Sigur Ros music video — is in talks for an unspecified role in director Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac. As the title implies, the film follows the erotic adventures of a woman (Charlotte Gainsbourg) from her first sexual experience through age 50, with von Trier shooting both explicit and not-as-explicit versions of the film. Stellan Skarsgard will play the woman’s husband, but likely not her only sexual partner, because that would be a bit of a let down, frankly. [THR]
