To combat the ominous atmosphere of the Ides of March, Netflix has another Lindsay Lohan film, “Irish Wish,” which is now streaming. The follow-up to “Falling for Christmas” in Lohan’s deal with the streamer to make two films, “Irish Wish” focuses on love, luck and a little bit of magic in the rom-com that arrives right before Saint Patrick’s Day.
Lohan portrays a smart book editor, except when it comes to matters of her heart. It takes a wish granted by a mystical woman out in the beautiful Irish countryside to get Maddie to realize that what she hopes and dreams for might not be what she wants or should want in life.
Featuring music from Lohan’s younger sister, Aliana, and a guest appearance from her brother, Dokota, the cast is stacked with other familiar faces as well. We’ve rounded up the “Irish Wish” cast and...

Early-aughts teen queen Lindsay Lohan is having a comeback moment, and her latest Netflix romance is here. The “Mean Girls” and “Freaky Friday” star previously teamed with the streamer on the hit holiday romance “Falling for Christmas.” Now, she’s back — along with director Janeen Damian — for the spring fling, “Irish Wish.”
Lohan stars as book editor Maddie who’s head over heels for the author she works with, Paul (Alexander Vlahos), until he falls in love with her best friend (Elizabeth Tan). Putting her feelings aside, Maddie travels to Ireland for their wedding, where sparks fly with a charismatic photographer (Ed Speleers) until an accidental wish turns her life upside down. She wakes up engaged to Paul and racing toward a walk down the aisle she’s not sure she wants anymore.

An Irish coffee is made with whisky and cream. An Irish goodbye is when someone leaves a gathering unnoticed. The Irish stew mixes root vegetables with either lamb or mutton. With her latest Netflix romance, director Janeen Damian aims to add yet another concept to popular notions of Irishness: the Irish wish. Now, will it catch? Unlikely.
The titular wish in Irish Wish is made by Maddie (Lindsay Lohan), an American book editor besotted with Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos), a pompous Irish writer whose latest book became a worldwide success, thanks to Maddie’s uncredited penmanship. Because such love stories rarely go to plan, just as Maddie is about to profess her feelings, Paul locks eyes with the editor’s bubbly childhood best friend Emma (Elizabeth Tan), and sparks fly.

Irish Wish marks Lindsay Lohan’s second romantic comedy with Netflix. Signed to a multi-picture deal, she’ll have at least one more, Our Little Secret, expected later this year. The first film, Falling For Christmas, had some charm simply for being set during Christmas. But it played it so safe. It didn’t take any chances, and seemed hesitant to go for anything fun. Unfortunately, Irish Wish closely follows suit.
Irish Wish Plot
Lohan plays Maddie, an book editor. She has recently finished working on a book with charming author Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos). Over their time working together, Maddie has fallen in love with Paul, but has not been able to muster the courage to tell him. On the night of the book release, she decides to go for it. But before she can, Paul meets and hits it off with Maddie’s friend Emma (Elizabeth Tan). It...

When two stars have “chemistry,” we tend to think of it as basic animal magnetism. And maybe that’s the essence of it. Yet when a romantic movie works, even a synthetic magical rom-com trifle like “Irish Wish,” what draws us into the chemistry isn’t simply the actors’ sexy connection. It’s that the two characters have chemistry, and that each actor has it with the audience. That’s the connection Lindsay Lohan and Ed Speleers have in “Irish Wish. The movie is as frothy as the foam on a pint of Guinness, as formulaic as the last disposable Netflix rom-com. Yet these two make you believe that they belong together, and not every romantic comedy does that.

"I am not the one who is getting married! She is!" Netflix has unveiled a fun trailer for a romantic comedy called Irish Wish, the next Lindsay Lohan romcom from the streaming studio after Falling for Christmas in 2022. When the love of Maddie's life gets engaged to her best friend, she puts her feelings aside to be a bridesmaid at their wedding in Ireland. Actor Ed Speleers explains: "This world, this sphere of filmmaking comes very naturally for [Lindsay Lohan]. She has a great approach to the work and is very much in tune with her comedic bones. This was my first out and out rom-com, and to team up with Lindsay and film in the stunning Republic of Ireland felt like the perfect way to venture into this genre." Lindsay Lohan stars with Ed Speleers, Alexander Vlahos, Ayesha Curry, Elizabeth Tan, Jacinta Mulcahy, and Jane Seymour. Once again, it looks like some Hallmark Channel rubbish,...

After shooting to fame in films like Disney’s The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday and Tina Fey’s Mean Girls, there followed a well publicised period of instability after which she began the process of reviving her film career. Beginning with indie dramas like The Canyons, she then signed a deal with Netflix to produce and star in a series of films for the streaming service. Be careful what you wish for, especially when you’re in Ireland.
Lindsay Lohan’s new Netflix rom-com suggests what could happen in the official trailer released Tuesday. Set to “Breathless” by The Corrs, the Netflix feature promises a love triangle and switcheroo along the lines of “Freaky Friday” without the body-swapping.
Lohan’s Maddie reveals to a stranger on the bus that she’s in Ireland for a wedding — not her own, but her best friend’s. The thing is, her best friend Emma (Elizabeth Tan) is engaged to Maddie’s longtime love Paul Kennedy (Alexander Vlahos).
“I can’t help but think that things would be different if I had told Paul how I felt,” Maddie tells her mom over FaceTime while sitting on a beautiful Irish hillside. When her mom (Jane Seymour) tells her she needs to start speaking up for herself, she remarks, “It’s too late now.

Emerging star from Hong Kong, Isabella Wei, headlines Silent D Pictures’ comedy-drama “High Wire.”
The film follows the story of Go-wing, a British-Chinese takeaway girl who discovers her inner strength and artistic bravery when a circus comes to her small English town. As Go-wing navigates the challenges of her dual cultural identity, she finds herself at a crossroads and must decide between conforming to societal expectations or forging her own path towards her dreams. Wei’s breakout performance was in Netflix’s mystery sci-fi series “1899,” where she played the enigmatic Ling Yi, a geisha. Wei is also set to appear in Rupert Sanders’ much anticipated reboot of “The Crow” alongside Bill Skarsgård, Danny Huston and FKA Twigs.

ITV Drama ‘Singapore Grip’ Called ‘Harmful Non-Representation’ For Colonialism Portrayal (Exclusive)
“The Singapore Grip,” a new drama from ITV, is facing intense scrutiny over its depiction of colonialism, with British East and Southeast Asian media advocacy group Beats calling the series “harmful (non)representation” and “deeply upsetting.”
Adapted from Booker Prize-winning author J.G. Farrell’s 1978 novel by Oscar winner Christopher Hampton (“Dangerous Liaisons”), “The Singapore Grip” is set during World War 2, and focuses on a British family living in Singapore at the time of the Japanese invasion. It stars Luke Treadaway, David Morrissey, Jane Horrocks, Colm Meaney, Charles Dance, Elizabeth Tan and Georgia Blizzard.
The six-part series, produced by Mammoth Screen, has drawn considerable criticism on social media in the last week after ITV released a trailer. In response, Canadian actor Simu Liu, who plays Marvel’s first Asian superhero, Shang-Chi, in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” tweeted in response: “No… just…no.”
