In the name of all that is blasphemous, satanic and unholy, what in Satan’s asshole did I just watch?
Mark Of The Witch is an ambitious mess of hackneyed gimmicks that might have been salvageable with a proper budget, not just writer/director Jason Bognacki’s can-do attitude. I’m all for filmmakers going rogue and shooting original content, but only within their pre-determined means. Bognacki’s style is marred by atrocious CGI and incoherent storytelling, all of which try to skirt by on the presumption that arthouse pretension trumps any semblance of a worthwhile narrative. And you know what? Maybe it would have without all the fluctuating audio levels, fish-eye lensing and inexcusable animated misfires.
Maybe.
Bognacki opens on robed cultists (presumably witches) who are holding a baby, before transitioning into an overhead shot of a birthday cake that reads the name “Jordyn” (Paulie Rojas). As the happy post-teen celebrates another year,...

About this time last year we were introduced to writer/director Jason Bognacki's full length feature debut Another and since then, the movie has been making the festival circuit rounds and with screenings lined up for this year's American Film Market, a new sales trailer has reared its head for Bognacki's great looking horror.
Paulie Rojas stars as Jordyn a "beautiful young woman is driven into a dark underworld of demonic possession, desire, and extreme indulgences when she learns she may be the devil's kin."

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by director Jason Bognacki and Full Frame Features. Bognacki and this writer have worked together in the past. Director/writer: Jason Bognacki. Cast: David Landry, Maria Olsen, Lillian Pennypacker and Paulie Redding. Another is the first feature film from director Jason Bognacki ("The Red Door"). This film has played at several film festivals, recently and the reception has been mostly positive. The film can best be described as a Giallo-themed thriller, with a few gothic elements added in. Bognacki's first feature is light on story, with the director focusing more on the visual display. In the film, two immortals fight over the souls of the living; there is no clear winner. Shot on 4K digital with the Red One camera, the visuals of Another will stay with the viewer, long after the curtains have fallen. The story begins with a coven of witches.

There’s a joke in Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, the under-seen but superlative comedy about the making of a fictional eighties horror programme, that is too good not to repeat at any given opportunity. In it, the show’s producer, played by Richard Ayoade, claims that due to episodes running far too short, any scene without dialogue was considered for slow motion. Given its own brief running time of just eighty minutes and its predilection for the special effect, one wonders if Another was produced under a similar ethos.
Another portrays Jordyn (Ana Paula Redding), a young woman who keeps having weird and wacky experiences of a not entirely pleasant nature. Turns out, she’s being harassed/possessed by a demonic presence. There’s not really a great deal more to the plot than that,...

From the very first frame, writer/director Jason Bagnacki’s neo-giallo “Another” sets a dark mood and an atmosphere fraught with tension. When you start your movie with a bunch of creepy dudes in black robes performing some sort of occult ritual on a baby in a cave, this sort of thing is bound to happen. Spooky imagery, slow motion shots, ominous tones, and many more tools of the trade pile layer upon layer of pressure on top of you as you watch. One scene even slows and a well-known pop song plays ever so slightly just in order to disconcert you in a new and interesting way. The baby in question is Jordyn, and when she hits 18 years old, played as an adult by Ana Paula Redding, she learns a hideous secret about her past, her bloodline, and her family. This is all kicked off when her Aunt Ruth...

When we last chatted with acclaimed photographer, filmmaker and musician Jason Bognacki (check out the interview here), he was in the process of expanding his haunting short film Another to feature length. Filmmaker and artist Jason Bognacki (The White Face) passed us the first teaser for his creepy/beautiful new film Another. It's a 30 minute short film which Bognacki will then prep to become a feature version.
He is being guarded about the film's details, but like The White Face before it Bognacki the elegant and the eerie to create something that's creepy and cryptic and totally mad. I love it.
Another stars Paulie Rojas, Maria Olsen and Michael Rappaport (who, for the record I think is f'ing awesome).

Maybe this will help us get the taste of 'Tin Man' out of our mouths. Finally.
Not since 1987's made-for-tv Return to Oz have I been this excited about an Oz film. Let's face it - the original musical 1939 version with Judy Garland reduced the menacing, opium-induced political propaganda originally created by L. Frank Baum to so much MGM glitter and Oscar romance. But Fairuza Balk's first starring role, as Dorothy Gale who returns to Oz to face an evil Nome King, a headless princess, wheeled human punk rockers who chase you through the streets of the broken Emerald City, and talking chickens, was awesome. And since then?
Just more gibberish in musical form and a really bad made-for-tv SyFy Channel Dorothy movie that I think we'd rather all forget.

Lance Henriksen has battled Aliens, Predator, Pumpkinhead, The Terminator, Sasquatch, and all manner of supernatural and sci-fi terrors. Who would have thought he would finally face his ultimate challenge in the form of an unfriendly pussycat. That's what happened during shooting of his latest, Witches of Oz, and we have video documentation of this epic encounter.

Witches is directed by Leigh Scott who directed Flu Birds and the Asylum knock-off Transmorphers . Paulie Rojas, Christopher Lloyd and Jason Mewes co-star.
