The drama behind the scenes of the Daytime Emmys is getting as juicy as the soaps they honor.
At least three top daytime veterans on Monday called for a boycott of the event after the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ recent decision to revoke the awards of two actresses over submissions errors, while allowing a male actor who committed a similar infraction to keep his.
Emmy-nominated producer Michael Caruso, Emmy-winning director and producer Sonia Blangiardo and Emmy-winning actress and producer Crystal Chappell told TheWrap that they “are not willing to participate in future Emmy competitions” until NATAS agrees to an outside audit of all submission reels in the digital series category and clears up the underlying issues about submissions.
“That is an insult to our creative teams and we are no longer willing to look the other way,” they said in a joint statement.

The Hollywood Reporter brought us the good news this week that Cash Cab has been picked up by the Discovery Channel and will be back on our screens this July! This is such great news, as Cash Cab is such a fun and original show. Ben Bailey returns as the show host, who drives around the streets of New York City, as a mini-van Taxi cab driver, picking up pedestrians looking for a ride. When they hop in and state their destination, a fun blast of music starts to play, along with flashing lights, and Bailey exclaims that they are on the show Cash Cab! They are given trivia questions worth escalating amounts, which they have to answer before the time is up. If they answer three questions incorrectly, their ride is up and they must get out (at least they got that far for free!), but if they get...

As New York City riders get back in the Cash Cab, a digital companion to the beloved trivia show will arrive on Facebook Watch and Discovery Go. According to Deadline, Discovery and Group Nine Media are teaming up for Cash Lift, a series that will give contestants the chance to earn cash over the course of an elevator ride.
Cash Lift will be hosted by comedians Alex Weber and Zainab Johnson (pictured above), who will pepper unsuspecting hotel guests with trivia questions during elevator rides. Each correct answer will move the guests toward their intended floor, while a wrong response will send them all the way back down to the lobby.

There's nothing like finding out you've accidentally fathered 533(!) children to really kick-start your life. At least that's the quite literally surprising premise behind the fall comedy Delivery Man. We brought you a sneak peek back in May, but now we've got the first full-length look at the October release.
The film is an English-language remake of the popular 2011 French Canadian flick Starbuck, and just happens to be helmed by that film's original director/star, Ken Scott.
Taking on the Scott role this time around is Frat Pack kingpin Vince Vaughn (finding himself so far from money here that his Swingers character would be apoplectic) who finds himself joined by a stellar supporting cast that includes comedic gem Chris Pratt along with Cobie Smulders, Bobby Moynihan, Ben Bailey and Britt Robertson.
Produced by Steven Spielberg, Delivery Man hits theatres this October. Catch the Canadian premiere of the first full trailer after the cut!

The NBC soap opera that began in 1965 beat out defending champion "General Hospital" and former three-time winner "The Bold and the Beautiful," among others.
The category included the only four remaining soaps still airing on the broadcast networks in addition to "One Life to Live," which has found new life on the Internet after being canceled.
"Days" only other drama series win was in 1978.
The show claimed one other trophy: Chandler Massey as outstanding younger actor.
Doug Davidson of "The Young and the Restless" and Heather Tom of "The Bold and the Beautiful" won lead acting honors.
Davidson earned his first career trophy for a role he's played since 1978. Tom, who previously was on "Y&R,...

Daytime television's elite gathered on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton for the 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. Above all the night's festivities, one of the few surviving soap operas, The Bold and the Beautiful, won big.
The soap opera, which has been running since 1986, took home a total of four awards, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Heather Tom) Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama (Scott Clifton), Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team, and Outstanding Drama Series Directing Team.

Rachael Ray is wearing a diamond necklace pointing directly to her Décolletage … in case you miss it.
Kathy Griffin is overwhelming A.J. Hammer. it’s not difficult. Anyone else remember A.J. from his Vh-1 days? Of course, this is how I remember A.J. the best … in a tub of bubbles with Debbie Gibson.

It's all too common these days for Hollywood to pick up on the success of a foreign-language film and to set about making their own version. What's decidedly rare is to see the original film's director step behind the camera again to helm the remake. But that's exact what Canadian actor/director Ken Scott is doing with this English-language remake of his own 2011 Canadian comedy Starbuck.
The Dreamworks flick sees Frat Pack kingpin Vince Vaughn taking on Scott's lead role, joined by a supporting cast that includes the always funny Chris Pratt along with Cobie Smulders, Ben Bailey and Britt Robertson.
Produced by Steven Spielberg, The Delivery Man hits theatres this October. Catch the Canadian premiere of the first teaser after the cut!

I got the memo about Alex Trebek potentially leaving Jeopardy! in 2016, and that sent my mind into a frenzy (accompanied by the ping-pang-pow sound effect of a Daily Double). Alex Trebek's name is synonymous with Jeopardy! for a reason: He is an astoundingly great host who knows so much trivia and loves the learning process. You might think his knack for accents and correcting contestants is pretentious or annoying, but that discipline is so essential to the dignity and respect of the show's difficult material. Hell, this man hosts the National Geography Bee every year. He is a TV legend and it pains me to think of him departing the series.
But the task becomes a little bit easier when I think of some of the qualified people who could replace him. A few names have been thrown about loudly -- particularly Matt Lauer's and Anderson Cooper's...

What if you were already 30 minutes late to a meeting, but you hailed a cab that got you there an hour early?
Wishful thinking? Not when your taxi has gull-wing doors and a Flux Capacitor, as New York fashion design company Nooka (via Mike Lubrano Advertising) has done in a new ad campaign featuring a yellow "Back to the Future"-style DeLorean cab.
Now settle down, New Yorkers. We're pretty sure you can't flag this one down yet, as it's apparent from the pics that this is just a Photoshop mock-up, at least for now. If it does hit the streets for real, we have a feeling Ben Bailey's "Cash Cab" will be quickly usurped for Doc Brown's flaming tread as the most fantasized mid-town ride. One question, though: does it charge by the mile, minute, day or decade?
Needless to say, when this baby hits 88-miles-per-hour, you're gonna see some serious s**t.

We've been calling this one for a while, but today the move has finally been made. The new Vince Vaughn sperm-donor comedy Starbuck is a remake of the French Canadian film of the same name from last year, but as long as the project has been in pre-production we've predicted that the name wouldn't stick around long. Now the title has officially been changed. Coming Soon has learned that the film has changed its name from Starbuck to The Delivery Man. While the site doesn't say why the title was switched, one can assume it has something to do with a certain mega huge insanely popular chain of coffee stores. The film is being directed by Ken Scott - who also directed the original movie - and the supporting cast includes Chris Pratt, Cobie Smulders, Ben Bailey and Britt Robertson. The film follows the tale of a middle-aged man (Vaughn...

We rejoiced when Boston model/actor Rob Wilson was announced as the The Price is Right's first male model. Hooray for bare chests adorned with price-tag stickers! Wilson will begin straddling jetskis and wielding Plinko chips for a one-week stint beginning October 15, and hopefully he'll do well enough that men become a permanent addition to the modeling staff. In the meantime, we have a few decades of game show brawn to remember:

Ben Bailey is best known for his job as the host of the Discovery Channel game show Cash Cab, but he has a history as an actor as well and has just lined up a pretty nice gig. Variety is reporting that Bailey has lined up a role in the upcoming American remake of the French Canadian comedy Starbuck. It's an election year, which means "Saturday Night Live" gets an extra half hour every week during "SNL Weekend Update Thursday" to skewer all the ridiculous news that comes up on the campaign trail. The first 2012 edition featured a skit about the leaked Mitt Romney video that made fun of "Fox & Friends" as much as the Republican nominee, along with some feisty Update jokes.
Jay Pharaoh didn't get to take his second stab as official "SNL" Obama impersonator, because naturally the late-night sketch comedy show had to take on the Romney gaffe. Taran Killam, Vanessa Bayer and Bobby Moynihan played anchors who kept trying to explain away Romney's not-so-great statements on shows like "Cash Cab" (great Ben Bailey impression, Tim Robinson) and in top-secret shower footage.
