The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has brought life back to his longtime passion project, a biopic about the iconic rock band’s former drummer, Keith Moon.
Daltrey said in an interview with Vulture that he had recently finished a script for the movie, which had been nearly set to film last summer before Daltrey — with an aversion for a script written by Jeff Pope — stepped in and halted production. Paul Whittington (“The Crown”) had been set to direct.
Daltrey then committed to writing the script. He said he would now like to get the film shot within two years.
“I’m very pleased with the script,” Daltrey, 78, told Vulture. “I want people to get an understanding of him and his life, and the complete genius he was. He had so much talent, that boy, but he became out of control for a lot of reasons. Mostly for lack of discipline.

Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery is to lead Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight’s personal drama This Town for the BBC.
Knight’s six-parter is rolling the cameras in Birmingham and has cast a string of other British actors including Nicholas Pinnock (Marcella) and David Dawson (My Policeman).
Previously called Two Tone, the show tells the story of an extended family and four young people who are drawn into the world of ska and two-tone music, which exploded from the grass roots of Coventry and Birmingham in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, uniting black, white and Asian youths.
Universal Music Group’s Mercury Studios is co-producer and will “bring in an exciting range of high profile musical artists to help lay the backdrop for Knight’s incredible story,” according to the BBC. Mercury is co-producing alongside Banijay-backed Kudos and Nebulastar in association with Kudos North, Stigma Films and Nick Angel.

Rock biopics are a dime a dozen nowadays. Thanks to the ridiculous success of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” if you’re any sort of rock band worth your salt, you’re likely getting approached by Hollywood for the biopic treatment. And it appears that includes the legendary rock band, The Who.

“It became a very creative editing process,” explains Jessica Hobbs about directing the closing episodes of the upcoming fourth season of “The Crown,” which had not finished filming when the industry shut down in March. Showrunner Peter Morgan resolved never to film the missing scenes; Hobbs reveals in her exclusive interview with Gold Derby that she is currently doing post-production virtually from a family vacation in Greece (watch the video above). She explains, “We wanted to deliver to Netflix — people are hungry to see new material and hopefully, they’ll love it when they see it. Hopefully, they won’t notice!” Hobbs says about the process, “I was actually really grateful for the creative focus of, ‘Okay, how else can we tell this story with what we’ve got?’ And we really succeeded. Britbox is the exclusive home of ITV's Isolation Stories, and we have an exclusive look at the first of four episodes, all of which drop tomorrow, June 23.
If you've wondered what the future of television could look like after the world suffered together for the first six months of the year, Isolation Stories is a great place to start.
Leave it to the British to come up with an emotionally charged look at lockdown and its impact.
If we're to believe statements such as "things will never be the same until we have a vaccine," then you know we're in for a long haul with this virus.
That means that we could be subjected to even more quarantine's in the future. As viruses grow and change, the stage has now been set to respond quickly, urgently, and in a way that impacts the business community, sure, but can really wreak havoc with individuals.

They say write what you know, and in Jeff Pope’s case, he knew coronavirus was an unwelcome intruder on his home. The BAFTA-winning producer of Stan & Ollie was laid low by the dastardly disease with his family, and although it was not so serious as to warrant a trip to hospital, it was profound enough to inspire Pope into making a drama about the experience.
His idea was simple: an anthology series of short stories about people coping with Covid-19 while being confined to their homes. The execution was far from simple, however, with the rulebook on writing, casting, filming and post-production ripped to shreds by strict social distancing measures. Oh, and there was the small complicating factor of having to rapidly deliver the series at the heart of lockdown so it didn’t lose any of its topical potency.
