Kristen Stewart's Saturday Night Live monologue was going so well… right until the very end!
The Personal Shopper star hosted SNL this weekend, which included a fun (albeit a bit nervous) opening monologue where some SNL castmates – Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant – tried to show Stewart that they were just as cool as she was by pretending to be stereotypical badasses.
"I'm too cool for school too, I don't even care about this show, "McKinnon said as she came out in tattered black clothes smoking a cigarette. "I don't even want to be on it, right? I just want to be like you, right? Sleep all day, party all night."
"Yeah, that's cool. That sounds cool," Stewart said, laughing. "I don't really do that, though. I worked on five movies last year."

I refuse to begin this recap of Saturday Night Live‘s Season 41 premiere by saying that host Miley Cyrus came in like a wrecking ball. That would simply be too obvious, and also not entirely accurate, considering her opening monologue proved to be a good-natured (and pretty funny) takedown of the Maddening But Ultimately Fleeting Newsmakers of Summer 2015.

You know what they say about all work and no play? Luke Bryan sure does. So the singer made time to hit up Walt Disney World with his family for a day of fun between his Orlando concerts. While at the Magic Kingdom on Feb. 20, Bryan stopped for a meet-and-greet with cowboy Goofy (because even Goofy goes country in the presence of Luke!) before riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It was the perfect kind of day for Bryan, 38, who last year told People that the best of both worlds is having his family out on tour with him. "I'm at...

The overriding thought I had when watching WWE Raw this week was “Wow, this is exactly the same show I was watching 10 years ago… but nowhere near as good”.
Formulaic programming is a curse of the television industry in general. Take a look at some of the biggest commercial successes such as American Idol or The Apprentice. They do the same spots over and over again. WWE Raw is no different. The content is excruciatingly similar to the same creative concepts WWE has used for over two decades in some cases. The big problem is this – Raw is a three hour show. I could perhaps handle the regurgitation of creativity in a two hour show, but over three hours it is a draining process.
It is difficult to fully state it as a bad thing all this repetition. After all, Vince McMahon just needs to pull his accountant out to show that it works.

Birthday shoutouts go to Tony Goldwyn (above), who is 53, Jane Wiedlin is 55, Ted Allen is 48, and Mindy Cohn is 47. In ratings news, The Billboard Music Awards had its biggest ratings in ten years, and Celebrity Apprentice was down over 30% from last season’s finale. Can Marc Carson’s murder have as much impact as Matthew Shepard‘s? Congrats to Chely Wright and Lauren Blitzer, who have welcomed twins. Jesse Tyler Ferguson has a message for his old high school.

White Collar wasn't planning on having a season finale tonight,
but it just happened upon a finale that was just sitting on the bench not doing anything.
News
Fox gave early renewals to four shows yesterday: The Following, New Girl, The Mindy Project and Raising Hope. The one surprise on that list is The Mindy Project, which has been on the bubble all year. However, Deadline reports that Raising Hope will have to go without series creator Greg Garcia who is expected to supervise one of the two comedy pilots he's developing for CBS.
Meanwhile, The Mindy Project is also getting a visit from Chloe Sevigny, who has been working hard to make up for the awfulness of her Big Love character.

Let's see if The Vampire Diaries can get the crazy train back on track.
Tonight's schedule is a little off-kilter thanks to the Vice-Presidential debate, so be sure to double-check your local listings, especially if you don't live in the eastern time zone. Personally, I've made sure to hoard this week's comedies on the DVR just in case I need some major stress release.
News
We're going to meet Bryan's ex on The New Normal and he'll be played by.... (wait for it) Matt Bomer. Too bad it's not likely that that Bryan dated Cooper Anderson.
Miley Cyrus is no longer in the running to star in that mini-series about Bonnie & Clyde.
Paul Scheer will appear in an episode of Modern Family as a Costco manager who encounters Claire and Gloria. I guess that means Mitchell's happy with the diaper shed he got at Costco back in the first season.

Schmidt! Nick! Winston! Cece! The other one! (Who is that?) They're back!
Sigh. I'm going to need a second DVR when Happy Endings returns in a few weeks...
News
ABC Family's Jennifer Lopez-produced drama pilot The Fosters has found the women who will head the series' family. Teri Polo and Sherri Saum will play the lesbian couple who are parents to several adopted children.
Yes. Politics. I can't think of another reason why The Apprentice has never won an Emmy.
It's official, Bethenny Frankel's talk show is getting a national rollout sometime next year.
Gary Marshall is getting back into producing comedies. He is developing one for Fox about a man who loses his fortune and is forced to move back with his family.
At this point, I think a list like this doesn't really demonstrate a problem with the Emmys but that today's TV is an embarrassment of riches.

NeNe Leakes is taking over TV. "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star and recurring "Glee" actress is adding another acting credit to her ever-expanding resume with Ryan Murphy's new NBC comedy "The New Normal."
Starring "The Book of Mormon's" Andrew Rannells as Bryan and Justin Bartha as David, "The New Normal" follows the Beverly Hills couple as they try to start a family. The two turn to a surrogate, Goldie (Georgia King), with Ellen Barkin co-starring as Goldie's Archie Bunker-esque grandma. So where does NeNe come in?
"I'm Rocky, one of the gay guy's assistants," NeNe told The Huffington Post on the red carpet for NBC's upfront presentations in New York on Monday. "I take it very personal, honey, if you talk about my gays, honey. Only I can talk about them and I'm fabulous.
"She's very different from Roz Washington on 'Glee'; she's always in workout outfits and sneakers.

In advance of their official Upfronts presentation on Monday, NBC jumped the gun to be the first network to unveil their complete 2012-2013 schedule on Sunday.
The biggest story? "Community" is moving to Fridays, along with sophomore sitcom "Whitney," which will kick off that rather random new night of programming.
"Smash" is also being bumped -- all the way to midseason -- to make way for the premiere of "Revolution," a new thriller from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke, which will air after "The Voice" on Mondays. And yes, that means "The Voice" will be back in the fall, giving it two cycles a year, as predicted.
NBC will also try their hand at airing comedies on Tuesday nights, with Matthew Perry's "Go On" and Ryan Murphy's "Th New Normal" getting paired together.
Also being saved for midseason are new sitcoms "Save Me," "1600 Penn" and "Next Caller," and new dramas "Do No Harm,...

The 63rd Primetime Emmy Nominations were announced bright and early today in Los Angeles by Joshua Jackson and Melissa McCarthy. Looking through the nominations, there was plenty of good and plenty of bad.
Since I am a mostly positive person, let’s start with the positives. While not nabbing a nomination for Best Drama Series, Justified, Sound on Sight’s favorite show of the year, racked up acting nominations in almost every single eligible category including Timothy Olyphant (Best Actor in a Drama), Margo Martindale (Best Supporting Actress in a Drama), Walton Goggins (Best Supporting Actor in a Drama), and Jeremy Davies (Best Guest Actor in a Drama). All are deserved, especially Martindale, whose frightening performance as Bennett matriarch Mags was the best on television this year. Olyphant is overdue for an nomination, being snubbed for both Deadwood and Damages, so it’s nice to see him get recognition for...

Mad Mend and Mildred Pierece were the top contendors today when Melissa McCarthy and Joshua Jackson announced the 2011 Primetime Emmy nominations in Los Angeles today. There were a number of suprises, predictable nominees and a few disappointments.
Jane Lynch will be hosting the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 18. For the full list of nominees head over to the Emmys website. I am happy to see Parks & Recreation and Modern Family on the list of comedy nominees. I am hopeful that Mireille Enos wins for The Killing, which is underrepresented on the list.

Steve Carell, The Office

[1] The 2011 Primetime Emmy Award nominations were announced this morning in Los Angeles by hosts Melissa McCarthy and Joshua Jackson. As always, the list contained a few surprises and a few disappointments, as well as many more predictable choices. Among the pleasant surprises were outstanding series nods for Parks & Recreation and Friday Night Lights, both excellent (and personal favorite) series that the Emmy folks have overlooked in the past. On an unhappier note, Nick Offerman's singular performance as Ron Swanson was overlooked, and neither Treme nor Community made a single appearance in the list. Meanwhile, Modern Family picked up four of the six Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy nominations, which... I like the show and all, but surely we could've bumped one or two of those men to make room for Offerman, Danny Pudi, Ted Danson, etc.? Read the list of nominees after the jump, and leave your questions,...

With lawsuits pending, Trump's business empire could not withstand the close scrutiny of a presidential campaign, and even his kids might have been muddied. Wayne Barrett, who first exposed Trump's ties to organized crime in his 1992 book, looked into the Donald's most recent business dealings and discovered:
• One associate who was an "unindicted co-conspirator" in a massive 2000 stock swindle-and escaped prison only by helping to convict 19 others, including six members of New York crime families • Two associates who served prison time on cocaine charges • Another partner prosecuted for trafficking underage girls after a dramatic helicopter raid on a yacht off the Turkish coast • A pending lawsuit against Trump Soho that alleges daughter Ivanka, among others, made fraudulent misrepresentations
