Scalper doesn’t tell a particularly original story but it doesn’t really need to because it is definitely going for a modern take on the eighties slasher. In the movie we discover that everyone around the psychic Clementine Carter (Susan Priver) is being murdered by a masked killer dubbed ‘The Scalper’. She must use her psychic abilities (and occasional help from the police) to work out if this is a copycat killer or the murderer Andrew Lubitz back from the dead.
Scalper goes right for it with its pretty unpleasant and brutal first scene. We watch a man get stabbed from behind, and then repeatedly stabbed in the ass, until he is very close to death, at which point the killer uses the same knife to...

Earlier this month, a serial killer thriller called Squealer was given a theatrical and digital release. You can watch the trailer for that one Here. Squealer drew inspiration from the story of Robert Pickton, a Canadian pig farmer who was charged with killing 26 women (but claimed to have killed 49). He would feed the bodies of his victims to the pigs. Just a couple weeks after Squealer made its way out into the world, another serial killer thriller inspired by the Pickton case has arrived in theatres, and you can watch the trailer for this one, which is called Pig Killer, in the embed above.
Pig Killer is currently playing in the following theatres:
Laemmle LA
Film Noir Brooklyn
Reeding Berkeley
Vancouver – Van City Oaks Cinema Center
It will be receiving a VOD and Blu-ray release next week, on November 21st. Copies are available for pre-order on Amazon.

Night Caller opens with visions of a murder underneath the main credits before Clementine an operator for Jade Mei’s gets a call from the man she saw in the visions before he commits the crime for real.
And that murder serves notice to viewers that this isn’t going to be a Scream or Blumhouse style mainstream horror film. There are repeated gory closeups of a large knife entering the victim’s body. A shift of camera angle to some not so explicit shots that suggest the knife is getting shoved somewhere else. And the ranting killer taking the somehow still living woman’s scalp as a souvenir.

Our film kicks off with, let us say, more than a wink and a nod to the seminal horror film The Exorcist. A film that, nearly 40 years on still can shock and terrify. Exorcism at 60,000 Feet might not shock and terrify in the same way. But it is not a subtle film, in many ways. Our exorcist here really looks the part, however rather than trying to get the beast out of the possessed man, he rather reluctantly shoots him in the head. Suddenly. I am invested.
There is a bit of black humour injected into proceedings. Wait. Lance Henrikson is in this? This is shaping up...

We're beginning to wonder if there's a new friendship forming between two of Tinseltown's cringiest finest, Farrah Abraham and Courtney Stodden.
Recently, Stodden was offered a porn deal similar to the one that raked in big moolah for former "Teen Mom" Abraham. Now, the latter is following in the ambitious blonde's footsteps and posing for Girls and Corpses magazine.
The issue, out December 1, will showcase the young mom turned sex-tape star in very minimal clothing, holding -- what else? -- a cadaver.
"This was our wildest shoot ever and the photos of Farrah will blow everyone's mind," Robert Rhine, the magazine's editor-in-chief, told RadarOnline. "It was hot as hell in our studio when we shot and I attribute much of that heat to Farrah wearing a teeny weeny bikini while cuddling our cold corpse."
Umm ... we can't wait?...

More troublesome news comes to light about Sylvester Stallone's son Sage. He reportedly acted completely out of it at a recent photo shoot. Sage Stallone, Sylvester Stallone's son, was found dead in his apartment on Friday after a suspected overdose. Now, more evidence has come to light that may support the theory he died because of drug use.Robert Rhine, editor-in-chief of Girls and Corpses magazine, told TMZ that this past May he did a photo shoot at Sage's house for his magazine. He was photographing a friend of Sage's. Robert says he waited 45 minutes for Sage to answer the door and revealed Sage was slurring his words and stumbling around his place acting like he was "on something." He said he acted "very similar to Ozzy Osbourne" and would speak to Robert for a little bit before "trailing off and just walking away." He also attempted to...

Every November 1 is Day of the Dead, and one odd, but weirdly fun way to take part in all things dead is to read Girls and Corpses Magazine, particularly if you’re the type that likes to see your centerfolds next to a rotting body. According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Girls and Corpses Magazine was started by the magazine’s “deaditor-in-chief” Robert Steven Rhine, who is also a filmmaker, comedy writer, actor and publicist, as well as the author of comic books like “Selected Readings from Satan’s Powder Room.” His magazine reflects the point of view he cultivated from a horrific accident that happened to him when he was...

Over the years we've learned that two things most Dread Central readers enjoy are girls and corpses, so you guys should really dig on the new animated music video from Girls and Corpses Magazine that recently premiered featuring the song "Crazy Fucked Up Bitch" by The Fabulous Miss Wendy.
Girls and Corpses Publisher/Deaditor-in-Chief Robert Rhine explains, "The concept is a takeoff on the ‘Night of The Dead’ type horror movies where girls are chased by zombies. But in our animated music video, the corpses are chased by the girls." Rhine adds, "The song 'Crazy Fucked Up Bitch,' by The Fabulous Miss Wendy, is the perfect girl-empowerment vibe for the music video -- it’s upbeat and perky but with dark comedic lyrics which perfectly fit Girls and Corpses Magazine."
