With the release of Still Wakes the Deep less than a month away, developer The Chinese Room and publisher Secret Mode have revealed the voice cast for the game in a new mini documentary. The cast includes Alec Newman (Cyberpunk 2077), who will be voicing the main protagonist, Cameron “Caz” McLeary, and Neve McIntosh as Suze, Caz’s wife.
“The thing was so well written, and so well-conceived, that I don’t recall having very long conversations about what Caz should sound like,” says Newman, discussing what struck him about Still Wakes the Deep. “With this, you can feel the writing, you can feel the characters.”
Alongside Newman and McIntosh, the full cast for Still Wakes the Deep includes Karen Dunbar, Michael Abubakar, Clive Russell, Shaun Dooley, Stewart Scudamore, Nicholas Boulton, Duncan Pow, Sandy Batchelor, Alan Turkington, and Noof Ousellam.
Taking place in 1975, disaster has struck the Beira D oil rig off the coast of Scotland.

As filming for “Grantchester” Season 9 is officially underway, star Tom Brittney has revealed that it will be his last. The actor, who has portrayed Reverend Will Davenport since 2019, will exit the PBS and ITV series to focus on new projects.
“I’ve had the most incredible time playing Will Davenport for the last five years. I got to solve crimes with my best friend, and work with the best cast and crew I could ever ask for,” Brittney said in a statement. “I’ll miss it more than anything. But it’s time for the baton to be passed, as it once was to me.”
In addition to Brittney’s departure, Rishi Nair is joining the show’s cast as the new vicar, Alphy Kotteram.

Emily Cook is a huge Doctor Who fan. She has been since 2005 when, as a young girl, her parents suggested she join them to watch the return of a sci-fi show they had loved back in the day. ‘That sounds boring,’ thought Emily – and then she reluctantly sat down in front of ‘Rose‘, the debut episode of Russell T Davies’s revamped Doctor Who, and the rest is history.
“It was the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” she says, “it really just drew me in… From the moment you see the shot zoom down to planet Earth and Rose is in her bedroom and she whacks the alarm, I was just hooked.”
Emily became so obsessed with Who, in fact, that during her English degree she persuaded a contact to get her work experience on the show’s official publication, Doctor Who Magazine, which had...

Over the weekend, housebound Whovians lifted their spirits by holding a global rewatch of Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary special “The Day of the Doctor.” Stars of the show – such as Osgood actress Ingrid Oliver – even got involved, live-tweeting their reactions. Best of all, though, was the arrival of a brand new introduction to the episode, starring (the voice of) Dan Starkey and written by ex-showrunner Steven Moffat.
The rewatch occurred at 7Pm U.K. time this past Saturday, so Starkey dropped the special intro on his Twitter account shortly before it was time to hit play. The hilarious skit sees the actor reprise his beloved character Strax with the help of a pint-sized stuffed toy. Moffat clearly had fun getting topical, too, with the script making references to the most recent season of the series.

Before Hellraiser came The Hellbound Heart, Clive Barker’s horror novella that ultimately laid the foundations for Pinhead and his army of Cenobites.
Initially released in 1986, the spine-chilling yarn was actually the third installment in the Night Visions anthology series, and it wasn’t until the following year that Barker and Doug Bradley (Pinhead) began formulating an idea for a live-action adaptation. And with that, Hellraiser was born.
But in light of Judgment‘s release, Bafflegab Productions has announced plans to circle back to the very beginning and release an audio drama adaptation of The Hellbound Heart. As reported by Bloody Disgusting, it’ll hit store shelves on April 27th, and feature the voices of Alice Lowe (Prevenge), Tom Meeten, and Neve McIntosh of Doctor Who fame. Here’s a rundown of what to expect:

The Doctor has a new companion… and she is openly gay. Actress Pearl Mackie just revealed that her character, Bill Potts, will be the first openly gay companion in the long-running BBC sci-fi series “Doctor Who.”
“Yeah, Bill’s gay. It shouldn’t be a big deal in the 21st century. It’s about time, isn’t it?” Mackie told the BBC. “That representation is important, especially on a mainstream show.”

While this marks the first time that The Doctor’s main companion is openly gay, in the past the series has featured gay and bisexual characters. Such is the case of Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), Vastra (Neve McIntosh) and River Song (Alex Kingston).
According to the BBC, Bill’s sexuality will be revealed “pretty much straightaway in her second line of dialogue,...

We revisit brilliant, unflinching UK medical drama Bodies by Line Of Duty creator Jed Mercurio. Gory scenes ahead…
Did you know umbilical cords can snap? That if you give one a hard-enough tug it can ping loose of a placenta and spray flecks of high-nutrition gunk all over your face? Or that too firm a yank on a lodged placenta can pull a uterus clean out, starting a flesh avalanche that turns pounds of inside-meat into surprise outside-meat that slumps, glistening, like an exotic off-cut in a butcher’s shop window?
I’d apologise for the graphic imagery but it serves a purpose. To head off at the pass any comments of the ‘why are you writing about a medical drama on a site called Den Of Geek?’ variety. I promise you, there isn’t a landscape more sci-fi than the layers of spongey, mottled purple lurking beneath a tautly pregnant stomach,...

As most of us Whovians and ComicMixers know, BBC America became the All Doctor Who All The Wibbly Wobbly Timey Winey Stuff network this past week in honor of the premiere of Season 9 – which, as I write this, airs tonight, Saturday, September 19. So I pretty much kept my TV tuned to channel 101 (the BBC America station on my cable system), except for some episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Hardball with Chris Matthews – oh, and the first half-hour of the Repugnantican debate on CNN, of which the less I have to say about that sorry affair the better, except that it disgusted me, and I returned to the All Doctor Who All The Wibbly Wobbly Timey Winey Stuff with relief.
So here’s a rundown of my opinions of random episodes in the lives of the Doctor.

EastEnders tested pre-watershed limits last night, with Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) branding her scheming brother Max (Jake Wood) a "complete and utter bastard".
Carol's outburst is far from the most traumatic event to occur on the BBC One soap in its 30-year run - or even in the past 12 months - but her potty mouth certainly ruffled a few feathers, with 29 people grumbling to Ofcom.
"People will complain about anything," you might think - and you'd be right. Below are just a few of the complaints made to UK regulator Ofcom in the past year - from hypnotism conspiracies to getting het up over helium.
1. Four people were annoyed they couldn't guess who killed Lucy Beale
This isn't the first time in 2015 that 'Enders has come under fire - a quartet of angry viewers contacted Ofcom in February to complain about the 'Who Killed Lucy?' plot reveal.

Doctor Who has debuted its latest menacing monster - an armoured antagonist that looks something like a grasshopper crossed with a tank.
In over 50 years, the world's longest-running sci-fi series has introduced us to hundreds of weird and wonderful creatures - but which is the best?
After much debate, here's our definitive ranking of the most memorable and terrifying monsters from 1963 to 2015 (and we're not counting humanoid wrongdoers, so no Master!).
Read on, then join the debate in the comments below...
15. The Haemovores
1980s Doctor Who can sometimes come in for an unfair drubbing - but there was still plenty of imagination, wit and inventive horror on show when the show was at its best.
'The Curse of Fenric' - airing as part of the final 'classic' series in 1989 - is a strong case for the defence, introducing the vampiric Haemovores - a species of evolved humans who lurked eerily...

Jason-Isaacs-in-Case-Histories
Within the crowded field of British detective shows, Case Histories truly stands out as one of the very best contemporary dramas in recent years. It’s not as gloomy as Vera, not as gory as Luther, and it lacks the frivolity of Midsomer Murders. What it does offer is a realistic central character played brilliantly by Harry Potter bad-guy Jason Isaacs. Jackson Brodie (Isaacs) is broody but he’s positively jovial when compared with Wallander. He’s something of a lady’s man and could be described as Scotland’s answer to Jim Bergerac only with a penchant for cigarettes rather than booze. Brodie has his demons and he’s not immune to the odd cock-up but he’s a good guy at heart and he usually unravels the perplexing mysteries that land in his lap.
Case Histories ran for two seasons each comprised of three feature length mysteries.

Doctor Who's next episode 'Robot of Sherwood' has been given a teaser trailer by the BBC.
The adventure - written by Mark Gatiss - features Tom Riley playing the legendary hero Robin Hood.
Ben Miller will also star opposite Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the episode, which has been directed by Paul Murphy.
The synopsis reads: "In a sun-dappled Sherwood forest, the Doctor discovers an evil plan from beyond the stars and strikes up an unlikely alliance with Robin Hood.
"With all of Nottingham at stake, the Doctor must decide who is real and who is fake. Can impossible heroes really exist?"
Doctor Who aired an edited version of recent episode 'Deep Breath' in Asian territories, cutting a 'kiss' between two female characters.
The scene - which featured Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh) and wife Jenny (Catrin Stewart) - was censored to "comply with broadcast regulations", according to a BBC spokesperson.

Doctor Who aired an edited version of the episode 'Deep Breath' in Asian territories, cutting a 'kiss' between two female characters.
In Peter Capaldi's debut episode, Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh) and wife Jenny (Catrin Stewart) were forced to hold their breath to avoid being detected by killer robots.
With Jenny unable to hold her breath any longer, Vastra gave her a 'kiss of life' - sharing oxygen from her own lungs.
However, the scene was excised from a version of the episode broadcast on the BBC Entertainment channel in several Asian countries.
A BBC spokesperson told Pink News: "In order to comply with broadcast regulations in Asia where our BBC Entertainment channel airs, BBC Worldwide made a brief edit to the first episode of Doctor Who Series 8, but did so without detracting from the storyline."
Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore were among...

Ofcom will not investigate complaints made about Doctor Who's series eight premiere 'Deep Breath'.
Some viewers complained to the media watchdog after Silurian Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh) was seen kissing her human wife Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart) as they hid from killer droids in last Saturday's (August 23) episode.
Ofcom confimed that it received six complaints from viewers, who described the kiss as "gratuitous" and "unnecessary".
A spokeman for Ofcom said: "Ofcom can confirm it received six complaints about a kiss broadcast in an episode of Doctor Who on Saturday 23 August.
"Having assessed the complaints, we can confirm that they do not raise issues warranting further investigation. Our rules do not discriminate between scenes involving opposite-sex and same-sex couples."
Peter Capaldi's full debut as the 12th Doctor was watched by nearly 7 million people, according to early figures.

See, I told you he was good.
Peter Capaldi is off and flying in the role he’s been practicing for since he was four years old. The Paternoster gang is here to cushion the blow of the wild turns in tone and character, there’s a well-hidden piece of chalk, and a dinosaur explodes.

So, there’s this dinosaur in Victorian London. The Paternoster Gang appear to investigate, and are only slightly surprised to learn that The Doctor is involved, by dint of watching said dinosaur cough the Tardis up like Elizabeth Taylor hocking up a chicken bone. The Doctor has regenerated, and as is traditional after sais process, his mental faculties, including the ability to pilot his time capsule, are a bit dodgy. Peter Capaldi made his much-anticipated Dr. Who debut this past weekend, stepping into the Tardis as the 12th Doctor. Did he live up to expectations, and did the season premiere episode “Deep Breath” give year 8 a strong start? Read on to find out more, but beware of spoilers.
The eighth season of Doctor Who aired this weekend and we finally got to see Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. Most of the pre-episode buzz had been highly positive for Capaldi. Now that we’ve actually see him in the episode “Deep Breath”, the question of every Whovian’s tongue is “Was he any good?”
Fear not fans. Despite having to meet excessively high expectations, Capaldi does not disappoint. It’s hard to get a handle on what his version of the doctor will be like since the character spends most of the episode in a post-regenerative state of confusion, but he...

Peter Capaldi assumed the title of Time Lord in the 90-minute season premiere of Doctor Who, but we didn’t really meet the new Doctor until the final act. Fresh off a traumatic regeneration, the (debatably) 12th articulation of the 2000-year-old extraterrestrial hero spent most of his too-long, unevenly paced debut suffering from fuzzy memory, identity flux, and disorientation panic, much like that temporally displaced, discombobulated, Tardis-snacking T-Rex that found itself chucked forward across epochs to Victorian London.
As a result, it was hard to draw a bead on the Doctor and how Capaldi’s take would differ from that of his predecessor,...

Brace yourselves, Whovians: Long-running cult obsession Doctor Who returns to BBC America on Aug. 23 with a new star, Peter Capaldi, and a new attitude. Compared with Matt Smith’s previous Doctor, Capaldi’s lead character is “a lot fiercer,” says Jenna Coleman, who plays his traveling companion, Clara Oswald. “This man is a total adrenaline junkie.”
If you don’t count John Hurt’s one-and-done performance in last year’s 50th-anniversary special, Capaldi is the 12th actor to play the show’s Doctor, a two-hearted alien who travels through space—and time—in his ship, the Tardis, and periodically regenerates his outward form.

Indie Spotlight Review: Nobody Can Cool

Nobody Can Cool is the rather impressive directorial debut from up-and-coming filmmaking duo Dpyx, Marcy Boyle and Rachel Holzman, who crafted a blisteringly taut and thoughtful indie crime thriller with a palpable sense of tension from start to finish. A gritty and engaging tale of deceit, violence and desperation, Nobody Can Cool is anchored by a breakout performance by Nick Principe (best known from his work in the Laid to Rest series, Madison County and...

Peter Capaldi can be seen filming some of his first Doctor Who scenes in new on-set pictures.
Capaldi - who replaced Matt Smith as the BBC drama's lead at Christmas - is currently filming his first episode, with transmission planned for late 2014.
Jenna Coleman will return as companion Clara in Doctor Who's eight series, which will also feature a reappearance from recurring allies Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny (Catrin Stewart) and Strax (Dan Starkey).
Head writer and executive producer Steven Moffat has described Capaldi's new incarnation of the Doctor as an "old beast" distinct from Matt Smith's "puppy dog" Time Lord.
Moffat has penned Doctor Who's eighth series premiere, which will be directed by Sightseers and A Field in England filmmaker Ben Wheatley.
A ninth series is also expected to air as a single uninterrupted run on BBC One in 2015.

Now that Season 8 of "Doctor Who" is in production, pictures are starting to show up online from those who happen to see the filming. If you don't want to know anything about what to expect from the early episodes of Season 8, stop reading this article.
There aren't many details about the episodes released, but a couple familiar faces will be making their returns to the show. Pictures shared on Twitter show both Strax (Dan Starkey) and Vastra (Neve McIntosh) appearing.
As for the Doctor himself, there also video of Peter Capaldi in a nightgown, riding a horse. Actually, he's riding a stunt horse in the scene, likely because having him flying down a street on a real one seems a bit dangerous for the new Doctor.
There's also video of his stunt double galloping on a real horse. A Flickr user was able to get several photos of Capaldi throughout...

"New job, first day, slightly nervous…"
Yesterday (January 6) marked the start of filming on Doctor Who's eighth series since its comeback in 2005, with fans getting their first on-set glimpse of new lead Peter Capaldi earlier today.
Capaldi's casting is, Who showrunner Steven Moffat tells us, "a big declaration of intent" for the long-running sci-fi series - a "statement of [its] importance" - but how much do we actually know about the new Doctor and his upcoming adventures?
Both Moffat and Capaldi's co-star Jenna Coleman agree that the 55-year-old actor will be "so different" to his 31-year-old predecessor Matt Smith, with the show's head writer promising an "old beast" with a "snarl".
"We've got used to two brilliant iterations of the younger, more puppy-dog Doctor and [David Tennant and Matt] have both been superlative," Moffat said in November. "But now it's time for the old beast to snarl at you for a bit!

The Doctor is in! Jan. 7 was Peter Capaldi’s first official day on the ‘Doctor Who’ set, and to say local fans went crazy is an understatement. In addition to BBC’s official first look at Twelve and Clara in costume, HollywoodLife.com has rounded up some of the best on-the-scene shots from today’s Cardiff shoot — shots which reveal the return of three beloved characters!
Peter Capaldi has a big fez to fill on Doctor Who, but these pictures of Twelve’s first day on the show’s Cardiff set should wipe all thoughts of Eleven from your brain like he’s The Silence. Check out the brand new pics below!
‘Doctor Who’: The Capaldi Era Begins
It’s good to know that even the freaking Doctor gets first day of work jitters. “New job, first day, slightly nervous,” Peter told BBC for the network’s official press release.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Spoilers consist throughout…
As Jack the Ripper is recreated as a pantomime villain of a musical play, Rose (Charlene McKenna) returns at the open, now a waitress at the music hall, playing with dreams of being on stage. But we only have moments to contemplate the meaning of her dreams and of Rose’s return, for this distasteful theme treat for an audience plunges into darkness, a prominent member of London’s council is kidnapped, and H division are called in.
For a show that centres around the formidable acting talents of Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg, in my heart I know that this episode was not theirs, it was a performance piece that hung on the great talents of MyAnna Buring (The Descent, Kill List) and Neve McIntosh (Recently in Doctor Who and previously in the fantastic channel 4 medical drama, Bodies), and they didn’t disappoint,...

Review Becky Lea 11 Nov 2013 - 22:00
Ripper Street focuses on developing its women characters this week, and is all the better for it. Here's Becky's review...
This review contains spoilers.
2.3 Become Man
When a politician is snatched from the audience in a music hall by a gang of women, Reid, Jackson and Drake are dispatched to investigate the abduction. They soon stumble across a bigger plot to do with matchbox girls, suffering the effects of their exposure to phosphorous and out for revenge against those who offered them little compensation. The case soon takes on a personal element when the gang takes Susan hostage and she becomes privy to their motives.
One of my main complaints about the first series of Ripper Street and the two episodes we have seen so far is the sidelining of the female characters who are either supportive wives or whores to be rescued. Susan...

Madame Vastra
Portrayed by: Neve McIntosh
Doctor: Eleventh Doctor
Story: 4 stories- “A Good Man Goes to War”, “The Snowmen”, “The Crimson Horror”, “The Name of the Doctor”
Background: We meet Vastra in “A Good Man Goes to War”, when the Doctor calls in his favors to save Amy from the Silence, Madame Kovarian, and the Headless Monks at Demon’s Run. She owes the Doctor for stopping her from going on a rampage through London (and presumably, being killed) after being awoken by construction on the London Underground. Eventually, she managed to build a life in Victorian England, marrying her maid Jenny, becoming a detective, and assisting Scotland Yard with their particularly difficult cases (such as Jack the Ripper).
Family: As a Silurian and part of the Warrior Caste, Vastra undoubtedly has many sisters slumbering under the Earth, but as she was awoken by herself, her family consists of Jenny,...
