Working on the science fiction series Dark Angel brought both Jensen Ackles and Jessica Alba their fair share of success, despite some ups and downs. Fox’s show, which starred Alba as super soldier Max Guevara escaping from government agents in a post-apocalyptic Seattle, was created by James Cameron and Charles H. Eglee and premiered in 2000.
During the second season, Ackles joined the show as Max’s fellow supersoldier, Alec McDowell (X5-494). The actors engaged in a lot of fighting during Dark Angel’s action sequences, but Ackles maintained that the tension between them was even greater off-screen.
Jessica Alba in Dark Angel
The former Supernatural cast member revealed in 2022 how “horrible” his experience was while working on Dark Angel, saying that the Fantastic Four star “did not make it easy” for him on set.

At the back end of 2022 it was announced that the 1996 hit Twister would be getting a sequel in 2024. So it should perhaps come as no surprise that similar movies are starting to release in 2023. Supercell would be one of those movies.
The start of the movie shows a young couple storm chasing, while it is made clear that they are doing this for scientific reasons, and not just as thrill-seekers. Unfortunately, the male of the couple ends up dying when he gets too close to a tornado and we shoot forward a number of years to his now grown-up, son and his mother. After discovering his fathers, notebook, he wants to lead the way in the scientific field and runs off to find...

The sight of a southern swamp opens the latest feature from writer/director/star Nick McCallum, with the area including gators residing in the water, and a hand visibly poking out of the ground. It belongs to murdered ranch owner Robert Marks, who was last seen boarding a boat with his missing daughter, Sloan. This is conveyed in the intrusive voice-over from ex-cop Isaiah Slade (McCallum), arriving in the small town searching for answers as to Sloan’s whereabouts.
As he converses with the local Chief (Richard Gunn), tries speaking with Robert’s remaining daughter Beth (Mary Drew Ahrens), and forms a bond with aspiring musician Brandy (Anais Lilit), it becomes clear that Slade is personally invested in uncovering the truth.

A teenage son wants to follow his a legendary storm-tracker dad’s footsteps – with the late lamented Anne Heche sparky in one of her final roles
Every generation needs its own VFX-heavy action thriller about storm-chasing meteorology nerds and there hasn’t really been one since Twister in 1996. A supercell, by the way, is a mega-huge tornado-thunderstorm weather event that the Brody family – dad Bill (Richard Gunn), his wife Quinn and Bill’s brother Roy (Skeet Ulrich) – gets frightfully excited about. Bill and Roy chase storms like this all over Texas and Oklahoma in a gas-guzzling truck while Quinn stays home monitoring satellite feeds and screaming into a shortwave radio when she’s not looking after her and Bill’s son William.
Of course, like Icarus but with cowboy boots, Bill gets too close to the killing end of a storm and dies. Quinn is so bereaved that, despite...

"There's a dark side to this, and your father crossed over from time to time." Saban has released a second official trailer for the storm chasers thriller movie Supercell, set to open in theaters and on VOD later this month. The first trailer arrived a few weeks ago, with this next one being labeled as a "Director's Trailer" - meaning the director must've edited himself to better represent the film. This thriller is inspired by real life stories of storm chasers as well as the tour agencies that end up caught up in dangerously real trouble all for a profit. A teenage boy runs away to follow his father's footsteps - the legendary storm chaser Bill Brody, played by Richard Gunn - when a powerful storm arrives. He wants to try to carry on his father's spirit by going out on research chases, too. Stormcell stars Daniel Diemer as William Brody,...

"He chased for knowledge, not thrill." Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for a storm thriller titled Supercell, made by a first-time filmmaker named Herbert James Winterstern. The poster for this has some ridiculously cheesy tornado art, but the movie seems to be a more grounded, realistic look at the intense life of storm chasers. Seemingly inspired by real life stories of storm chasers as well as the tour agencies that end up caught up in dangerously real trouble. A teenage boy runs away to follow his father's footsteps - the legendary storm chaser Bill Brody, played by Richard Gunn - when a powerful storm arrives. He wants to try to carry on his father's spirit with some tornado contraption. Stormcell stars Daniel Diemer as William Brody, with Skeet Ulrich, Anne Heche, Jordan Kristine Seamón, Anjul Nigam, and Alec Baldwin. This doesn't look as cheesy as so many other weather movies recently,...

Find Her is a movie written, directed and starring Nick McCallum. With Richard Gunn, Anais Lilit, Stelio Savante and Rebecca Lines.
A movie with an American scent of deep forests and secrets.
Movie Review
This is a kind of movie of bygone times which seeks its thriller seeking its own ecosystem.
Find Her has the virtue of knowing how to go back in time in the genre and fulfill its principles from the very start, without attempting to be what it is not and knowing how to go to the sources of dark thrillers and the classics of the Forties of the past century. It is impossible to not recall the kind of film noir hero who is a prey of his own nightmares.
Anais Lilit is good as a femme fatale and the atmosphere and photography also match it and, curiosly, that off camera voice that some say is...

Six years of Donald Trump’s tax returns were released in one of the final acts of House Democrats before they lose control of the chamber.
The House Ways and Means Committee said the returns were made public Friday, posting them on their website, downloadable as Attachment E here.
The public release of the returns follows years of legal battles that went to the Supreme Court, which ultimately decided that Trump had to turn over the returns to the committee. The returns, covering the years 2015 to 2020, showed that he paid no taxes in 2020, after reporting losses and little income.

The U.S. House Ways and Means Committee approved the public release of six years’ worth of former President Donald J. Trump’s tax returns, the New York Times reports.
The vote was approved with all 24 Democrats voting in favor of the motion and all 16 Republicans against it. The Democratic-controlled committee said it will redact personal information from the documents; it is still unclear when these materials will be available to the public.
While the public release of Trump’s finances will provide the most up-to-date information, much of the data has been reported on.

Donald Trump has lost a bid to deny a Democratic-led House committee the right to obtain his tax returns. After a lengthy legal battle, the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday cleared the way for the imminent handover of the former president’s financial documents to the House Ways & Means Committee.
In an unsigned terse statement with no noted dissents, the Court rejected Trump’s plea to prevent the Treasury Department from providing six years of tax returns for Trump and some of his businesses to the committee. Richard Neal, the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, has sought Trump’s returns since 2019, but has been engaged in a legal battle since then.
The latest ruling against Trump followed one last month in an emergency case involving documents seized at his Mar-a-Lago club. In that ruling, the Court denied Trump’s request to allow a special master to review...

A congressional committee can obtain Donald Trump’s tax returns from the IRS, an appeals court ruled on Tuesday.
The 3-0 decision from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals is likely to be appealed, but it’s another victory for the House Ways and Means Committee in its efforts to see the former president’s filings.
The ruling also comes a day after the FBI executed a search warrant on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, an action reportedly connected to an investigation over the mishandling of classified information.

In an interesting bit of irony, one of the first films to stand out as a possible Oscar contender in 2019 is now one of the year’s final releases. Yes, Clemency is finally hitting theaters this week, right in the final crop of Academy Award hopefuls. A heavy drama in all senses, this movie has some very strong acting, for sure, and focuses on a pair of interesting characters, but the story is so heavy, it ultimately undoes the story. Almost everything within the central location of the prison works, but when the flick ventures outside, things become almost comedically melodramatic, dulling its effectiveness. The movie is a character study/drama, focusing on Bernadine Williams (Alfre Woodard), a prison warden tasked with overseeing executions on death row. She’s been doing it for years, and while she claims it doesn’t bother her, it’s clearly taking a toll, especially...

Warden Bernadine Williams (Alfre Woodard) has executed 12 death row inmates, and each one seems to get harder. During the lethal injection that opens writer-director Chinonye Chukwu’s “Clemency,” the paramedic can’t find a vein, the widow-to-be is sobbing through her prayers, the anti-capital punishment protestors are chanting outside, and when the stent fails and the prisoner goes into convulsions, Bernadine is forced to close the curtain on the family and journalists observing the man’s final moments. It’s all awful and bitterly ironic, from the crucifixion position of the doomed man to the way Bernadine leans over at the last minute to ask if she can get him anything. To make sure the audience, too, is in agony, Chukwu silences everything but the sound of fumbling death: buckles, strangled breathing and the beeps of the heart monitor until it’s clear the man is dead.

Exclusive: Chinonye Chukwu is attached to direct an adaptation of former Black Panther leader Elaine Brown’s memoir, A Taste of Power. Black List writer Alyssa Hill will adapt the screenplay. This comes right on the heels of the Sunday night Sundance premiere of Clemency, which Chukwu wrote and directed. The film is competing in the U.S. Dramatic Competition and the filmmaker and cast got a standing ovation.
The adaptation’s producers are Robbie Brenner and Kevin McKeon for Unburdened Entertainment, and Scooter Braun and James Shin for Sb Projects. Executive Producers are Elaine Brown and Jeff Kwatinetz, as well as Scott Manson of Sb Projects, Andrew Heckler and Bronwyn Cornelius, latter of whom is a producer on Clemency.
Paradigm is handling financing for the project.
Elaine Brown is the first and only female leader of the Black Panther party from 1974 – 1977, this after Huey Newton was exiled to Cuba.

The 2019 Sundance Film Festival has unveiled their impressive lineup of independent films.
I love going to Sundance. It’s one of my favorite movie events to attend. One of the reasons I enjoy it so much is because they are all fresh and original films that tell original stories! For the most part there aren’t a lot of remakes, reboots, and sequels, which are mostly the kinds of films that fill theaters these days.
On top of that, you never know what you’re going to get when you walk into a screening. It could be complete and utter crap, or it could be one of the best films you’ve ever seen. It’s thrilling!
This coming year, The Sundance Film Festival will take place from January 24th to February 3rd, 2019 in Park City, Ut. Robert Redford, President and Founder of Sundance Institute, had this to say in...

There isn’t anywhere nearly as much Donald Trump at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival as there was the past two years, but there is certainly a lot of everything else from all over the world.
With 112 films being shown at the Robert Redford founded snowy Utah shindig from January 24 to February 3 next year, the 35th Sundance’s mantra is more. Today’s unveiling of the U.S. Competition and World Cinema Competition Dramatic and Documentary categories plus the Midnight, Kids and Next slates for the 2019 Sff reveals, it is more representation, more equality and more outward looking.
As the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spotlighting docu Knock Down The Doors shows politics is still very much in the mix at Sundance 2019, which is drawing from the largest number of submissions the festival has ever had with 14,259 films from 152 countries putting themselves forward.
“Society relies on storytellers,” Redford said Wednesday of the 2019 Sff line-up.

The Sound trailer shows the unusual team-up of Rose McGowan and Christopher Lloyd as paranormal investigators.
While The Conjuring films may have rejuvenated the box office viability of the paranormal horror genre, a smaller scale movie, called The Sound, comes to the table with something unique: Rose McGowan and Christopher Llloyd teaming up to battle a malevolent spirit.
Video of The Sound Official Trailer
The Sound trailer centres on McGowan’s Kelly Johansen, a passionate skeptic of the paranormal who, armed with an expertise in acoustics, utilises soundwaves as the primary tool of reports that she posts online. However, the debunking activities lead her to a case in an abandoned subway – built on a graveyard – in which a purportedly hoaxed suicide occurred 40 years earlier.
Ironically, the case not only uncovers paranormal proof, but makes Kelly the target of a malevolent spirit, forcing her to see disturbing imagery and memories.
