Def Leppard's Vivian Campbell surprised the rock world earlier this summer when he revealed he was being treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The even more shocking news was that the axeman was determined not to let his chemo treatments stop him from joining the band on their summer tour.
While on the road, Campbell opened up about the way his treatments forced him to hop between continents in between Def Leppard gigs.
"The band has been very accommodating," he says. "We've been able to [make it] work because there have been enough gaps in the schedule. Chemo treatment number six I did on the 18th of June, and then the next day I flew to France to join the band. And then I [flew] back to La on the 7th of July for my seventh treatment, and I [left] for Canada the day after that."

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell revealed Monday that he has been diagnosed with cancer.
Campbell said after coping with a "cough that wouldn't quit" he went in for a surgical biopsy on March 11 while in Las Vegas with the band and found out he has Hodgkin's lymphoma. He must undergo months of chemotherapy but feels "fortunate that my cancer sent me an alarm call."
"My diagnosis was Hodgkin's Lymphoma and 6 months of chemotherapy is the prescribed treatment," the 50-year-old said in a statement posted to the Def Leppard Facebook page. "I’m about 2 months in and feeling rather spiffy, all things considered. Hodgkin's has an over 80% cure rate, so by my reckoning, if you’re going to have a cancer, Hodgie’s is the one to have!"

A good commencement speech gets graduates motivated about their futures; a great commencement speech gets cited as a source of inspiration for years after and resonates with more than just college students.
Winston Churchill telling those at the Harrow School never to give in. Steve Jobs telling Stanford students not to waste time living someone else's life. Stephen Colbert encouraging graduates to say "yes" to everything. That whole "Wear Sunscreen" thing that got so big it was set to music and played on radio in a a seemingly endless loop. Okay, so that one wasn't even a commencement speech -- it was an article by Mary Schmich about what she would say to college graduates -- but it feels so much like what an unforgettable commencement speech sounds like that for years it's been misattributed to Kurt Vonnegut speaking at MIT.

The troubled actress – who was recently released from a 35-day period under house arrest in lieu of jail time for taking a necklace from a boutique and violating the terms of probation set for her 2007 conviction for driving under the influence (DUI) – is taking legal action against the hip-hop star for writing a "disparaging" lyric about her in his song 'Give Me Everything', TMZ reports.
The track – which was also written by Ne-Yo and Afrojack – features the line: "Hustlers move aside, so I'm tiptoein', to keep flowin' I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan."

Lindsay Lohan's legal troubles are beginning to pile up - she's been hit with a lawsuit by an electronics salesman over allegations she failed to pay for his services.
Stephen Clark claims he sold a set of speakers to the Mean Girls star and helped to install audio and video equipment in her Venice, California home in June, while she was under house arrest stemming from a probation violation.
But the actress reportedly failed to pay up once the work was complete - and now Clark has filed his suit in a small claims court for $1,180 (£737.50), according to TMZ.com.
Lohan was also recently sued by a rehab worker from California's Betty Ford clinic amid allegations she was assaulted by the star last year.

If we’re supposed to be impressed by Lindsay Lohan’s lawsuit de jour, the plaintiff is really going to have to up the ante. Stephen Clark filed a small claims court lawsuit against Lilo today, claiming that the actress never paid him for his work installing her stereo equipment. The sum total of the lawsuit? $1,180. Jeeeeeeez, Clark, this is the kind of lawsuit Lohan dealt with in grade school. This woman took on E*Trade and has worn an ankle bracelet more often than any regular bracelet. You’re in the big leagues now.
Clark alleges that he installed the equipment during Lindsay Lohan’s house arrest in June, and will also be suing for missed work. Too bad Lindsay eats lawsuits like this for breakfast. No, seriously, she physically eats them; that’s how she stays so thin.

In 1992, Vivian Campbell joined the mega-success rock group Def Leppard, stepping into the second lead guitarist slot left vacate by Steve Clark, who had died the year before. At the time, Campbell had gone a few years out of the spotlight after leaving David Coverdale's rock supergroup Whitesnake before signed on with the Leps, a position he's had for nearly 20 years that remains his most high-profile gig to date.
The Irish-born Campbell, who got big break back in 1983 as Ronnie James Dio's hot-shot lead guitarist in the former Black Sabbath frontman's newly created solo band, Dio, has always said that the guitar parts in Def Leppard weren't really challenging to him and he was fine with that. Now, the guitarist is finally bitching about it, complaining that fellow Lep guitarist Phil Collen gets all the good guitar parts. Let's just say, I told you so [...]...

Today marks an incredible 20 years since the death of Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark.
Def Leppard is sometimes, rather unfairly, known simply as ‘the band with the one-armed drummer’. Back in the late '70s and for well over a decade, Def Leppard was one of the biggest rock bands in the world, selling albums by the millions and playing sold-out stadium tours across the world. As a part of the Nwobhm* its influence on rock and metal bands since has been immense. A big part of this was down to wildly talented guitarist Steve Clark.
Born in Sheffield, England, in 1960 he played guitar from a young age and joined Def Leppard in 1978. One of my favourite stories about Clark came from his Def Leppard audition: he played Lynyrd Skynyrd’s "Free Bird" in its entirety with no backing. He quickly became a key part of the band’s songwriting process,...

Lucy Gordon, a young British actress perhaps best known for a small role in Spider-Man 3, was found dead in her Paris apartment yesterday, May 20. Gordon’s death was an apparent suicide. She is supposed to have hanged herself while her boyfriend, cinematographer Jérôme Alméras, slept. Gordon would have turned 29 tomorrow, May 22. The Oxford-born Gordon worked as a model before making her feature-film debut in the little-seen Perfume in 2001. Among her other screen credits are the romantic comedy Serendipity, with John Cusack; The Four Feathers, opposite Heath Ledger; Steve Clark’s dramatic comedy Frost, starring Jason Behr; Russian Dolls, with Romain Duris; and John Krasinski’s Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, which was screened at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Additionally, Gordon had recently completed Joann Sfar’s biopic Serge Gainsbourg, vie héroïque / Serge Gainsbourg (a Heroic Life) (top photo), in which she played the role of Serge Gainsbourg...
