My Cast List for "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" Remake Film

by Rama_Andor1416 | created - 21 Aug 2019 | updated - 13 Jun 2021 | Public

This will be an amazing remake if done right. I am a huge fan of The Twilight Zone. Which it is amazing to believe not anyone has thought of the idea to adapt these brilliant stories and update them to today's climate. Seriously so much has changed since the 60's for better and for worst. But the central idea is there. On a seemingly normal day a strange event happens that shakes the whole street. And obviously not all the characters are going to be white, which also updates what a suburban neighborhood looks like in today's standards. Which makes sense because if taken place in California it would have a melding pot of mix races. But not just race, religion, beliefs, political, and all sorts of way of living which means involving all kinds of people and not just those to appeal to the mass audience. But in the end it never makes any of the residents heroes or even villains. And in the end you don't know who is in the right or even wrong.

1. Bong Joon Ho

He first became known to audiences and achieved a cult following with his directorial debut film, the ...

Director- 1st Choice.

I am on a Parasite high right now still because having seeing it I know for a fact this guy is amazing at what he does. Which is putting people together in uncomfortable situations that makes the whole audience squell and uneasy as they are watching something they shouldn't. And if he just wants to make an all Korean cast in his native home. I say fuck it. Because I trust he will do an incredible job.

2. Jean-Marc Vallée

Director | C.R.A.Z.Y.

Jean-Marc Vallée was a Canadian filmmaker, editor and screenwriter from Montreal. He directed Black List, C.R.A.Z.Y., The Young Victoria, Wild, Dallas Buyers Club, Los Locos, Loser Love and Café de Flore. He also created the HBO shows Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects. He was married to Chantal ...

Director- 2nd Choice.

No one. Absolutely no one, can do what this man does so affected, which is human drama and he is so good at it. He knows where to edit, when to get the right reaction, and of course the explosion of acting from the best actors. This guy is an incredible example of what directors of drama should be doing. Because a lot of directors forget to do.

3. Gareth Evans

Writer | Serbuan maut

Welsh born writer/director, in 2003 directed a short film "Samurai Monogatari" telling the tale of a Samurai waiting to be executed. The short was in Japanese language and starred students from Tokyo who were studying at Cardiff University at the time.

In 2003 he also graduated with an MA in ...

Director- 3rd Choice.

Listen I know this guy is know for incredible action like The Raid films. But when Gareth was doing interviews for his last movie Apostle he said something interesting. Which I am paraphrasing he does mention that the scariest thing to humans are other human beings. Which is what this story is. And how everyone in the neighborhood will turn on each other and I feel like this guy will add both the horror and other elements I believe he would do an incredible job as a director.

4. David Fincher

Director | Se7en

David Fincher was born in 1962 in Denver, Colorado, and was raised in Marin County, California. When he was 18 years old he went to work for John Korty at Korty Films in Mill Valley. He subsequently worked at ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) from 1981-1983. Fincher left ILM to direct TV commercials...

Director- 4th Choice.

This would be a top choice for anyone but it has been hard to grasp what path he wants to take his career because he has been killing it with tv and no can top intense chilling stories quite like him. Plus he has adapted other people's work before and would no problem doing this because this is right up his alley.

5. David Slade

Director | Hard Candy

David Slade was born on September 26, 1969 in the UK. He is a director and producer, known for Hard Candy (2005), The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) and 30 Days of Night (2007).

Director- 5th Choice.

I wanted at least one director from Black Mirror to be mentioned here because I feel he has been the one to make something really interesting and by far the most ambitious not just for Black Mirror but also entertainment as we know it. Some may want Jordan Peele to direct this because of his connections with Twilight Zone but I don't want the third act to be messed up.

6. Sofia Coppola

Actress | The Godfather Part III

Sofia Coppola was born on May 14, 1971 in New York City, New York, USA as Sofia Carmina Coppola. She is a director, known for Somewhere (2010), Lost in Translation (2003), and Marie Antoinette (2006). She has been married to Thomas Mars since August 27, 2011. They have two daughters, Romy and ...

Director- 6th Choice.

She can handle the ensemble she can stick a landing and make something that we may have not seen before. Her pacing is even spot on with this kinda of material.

7. Lulu Wang

Director | The Farewell

Lulu Wang was born on February 25, 1983 in Beijing, China. She is a director and writer, known for The Farewell (2019), Touch (2015) and Family Meal.

Director- 7th Choice.

Cathy Yan has Birds of Prey and Chloe Zhao has the Eternals so why not have Lulu Wang step up to the plate like the others. She did one bad ass job with The Farewell which has an incredible all star cast. Which this can have as well and she would kill the camera work and have an updated feel to this project.

8. Diego Luna

Actor | Rogue One

Diego Luna Alexander was born on December 29, 1979 in Mexico City, Mexico, to Alejandro Luna and Fiona Alexander, who worked as a costume designer. His father is Mexican and his mother was British, of Scottish and English descent. His mother died in a car accident when Diego was only two. He soon ...

Marcus Marca- (the lead as Steve Brand) But changing the point of view to a middle class Mexican American Military Veteran. I know that is a lot but this is where my head is at, after coming home from the war but only after coming from Mexico LEGALLY. That is very important because we need to bridge the gap between people who believe we don't belong here. But this character is important for the lead because just like Steve Brand in the episode he is the one character who keeps his cool and tries to see everyone's view from their perspective but then having the tables turn on him. He rise threw the ranks by hard work and strong will. Nothing less and nothing more. Which may sacrifice his time with his potential family.

Plus each family will be apart of the seven sins. The Marca family will represent Pride.

9. Aislinn Derbez

Actress | Estar o no estar

Born and raised in Mexico City, Aislinn Derbez is a Mexican actress whose parents are artist Gabriela Michel and Eugenio Derbez, who is considered to be one of the greatest and most popular Mexican actors and comedians alive. She is the granddaughter of the Mexican star Silvia Derbez. Aislinn is of...

Gabrielle Marca- (the co-lead as Myra Brand) Again acting as the substitute for the Brand family. Which I want this whole family to be part of the Military because I feel like it will teach so much of these two characters to be patient and try to understand all of the viewpoints from every situation. I want to make her character pregnant and this will be their first child together and are planning to move to a bigger house with cheaper rent out of state. So in return they throw a going away party at their house and inviting the whole neighborhood. While at this party that is where the event happens.

Plus each family will be apart of the seven sins. The Marca family will represent Pride.

10. Antony Starr

Actor | Outrageous Fortune

Antony Starr is a New Zealand actor best known for his starring role as Homelander in Amazon Prime Video's original series The Boys, which is based on the comic book series of the same name. In New Zealand, he is best known for his dual role as twins Jethro and Van West in Outrageous Fortune and ...

Charlie Farnsworth- as in the episode and in this adaptation it will be the same case for Antony to be the one who jumps to conclusion and have everyone be the suspect when the event happens. He will be the richest guy in the neighborhood while also being humble. That is the angle I want for his character a conservative American who loves guns but who is also really responsible and a loving father and husband. Sure Charlie was different looking in the episode but I don't want Charlie to be seen as the bad guy. None of the people in the neighborhood should be seen as the "bad guy" which is why I think Antony toes that line just right. He is killing it on The Boys so it would be nice to see a change of pace for this guy and he is just a decent human being. Which is what I want to portray someone like this in the adaptation.

The Farnsworth family represents Greed.

11. Samara Weaving

Actress | Ready or Not

Samara Weaving was born on February 23, 1992 in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, but spent the years after that moving around from Singapore, Fiji, Indonesia, and back to Australia with her family. During that time, she attended grade school in Jakarta, Indonesia, eventually going to Pittwater...

Lucy Farnsworth- Playing the wife of Charlie in the episode is kinda one note. Hell her name is just Mrs. Farnsworth. But you don't get Samara Weaving to play the "wife" role which she is much better than that. I would love to see her play this character after seeing her play a ruthless character in Ready or Not. Which I feel like this role would do good for someone like Sarah Paulson who played an evil character in 12 Years of Slave but this time I want Samara to be much subtle with her role and not so passive. I want her to be aggressive and someone who is not afraid to be on people's bad side.

The Farnsworth family represents Greed.

12. Millicent Simmonds

Actress | A Quiet Place

Millicent (Millie) Simmonds is a BAFTA nominated American actress from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania best known for Wonderstruck (2017), A Quiet Place (2018), A Quiet Place Part II (2020), and Helen & Teacher. She made her Broadway debut 2023 starring opposite Laurie Metcalf in Levi Holloway's Grey ...

Ruby Farnsworth- Their daughter. I wanted to make their child the most sympathetic character because it relies on innocence being so young. But how influences and how judgmental young individual can be when growing up with parents who see the world in a different point of view. Which is incredibly important because when it comes to the kids in this story it will be based on influences how each kid mimics their parent but also wanting to distance from them to understand what really is happening without tearing up the whole neighborhood. Each kid will look be influenced by something or someone that will affect the way the story goes and the way people will react in certain situations. This character will be on her parents.

The Farnsworth family represents Greed.

13. Trevante Rhodes

Actor | Moonlight

Trevante Nemour Rhodes is an American actor. He won several accolades and achieved recognition in 2016 for his performance as Chiron in the Academy Award-winning film Moonlight. In his youth, he was an accomplished track and field sprinter, winning a gold medal at the Pan American Junior Athletics ...

Anthony Wells- It is very known or should be known that not so long ago the suburbs where a place where it was cheap but expensive enough that omitted black individuals to buy a house. Now it is a different time especially the position and opportunities many people like Anthony can take. And he is not playing an athlete or a rapper or anything like that. Just like Diego Luna's character he raise his money by hard work. Been his wife since middle school and wanted to move out of a bad neighborhood for the sake of his son and wife. He doesn't play the victim card or anything like but when growing up in a rough neighborhood it turns out to be much safer than anticipated when all the chips are down and when you can't dial 911 it not a place where Anthony wants his family to be around. Because his family becomes targeted because of son knowing what he knows in the end everyone gets the table turned on them.

The Wells family will represent Gluttony but not himself and definitely not his wife but their son.

14. Meagan Good

Actress | Think Like a Man

Meagan Monique Good was born on 8 August 1981 in Panorama City, California, USA, to Tyra Wardlow-Doyle, who worked as her manager, and Leondis "Leon" Good, an LAPD officer. She began appearing on commercials at the age of four. Then she started guest-starring on series like The Parent 'Hood (1995), ...

Jennifer Wells- The mother of Tommy in the episode was a very protected mother and her occupation I want her to teach self defense classes for women who have been previously been abused by someone. Because if you follow Meagan Good on her social media you know this girl can kick ass. Plus I want to switch up this idea of the man has to be the muscle and the stay at home mom. Where it is quite the opposite where the wife is the muscle and the husband is the brain by not letting his family by into anyone being the fault at all of this but in the end she can't help but accuse some of her neighbors they can be the spy's or Aliens or the cause to what is happening throughout the day.

Gluttony is far from Meagan because I want to keep her active nature so she is not but her son is.

15. Keith L. Williams

Actor | Good Boys

Keith Leon Williams was born May 21, 2007 in Fort Worth, Texas, and came to Los Angeles, California in 2010 with his family as his older brother began pursuing a career in acting. Keith wanted in on the fun. He booked his first commercial audition within two months of trying and the rest is history...

Tommy Wells- In the episode Tommy is the one who based the incident on something he read in his comic books, and that is what influences him to speak up out of fear and wanting everyone to be safe. No believes him at first until things actual go his way and now everyone believes in what he says. Which I love his character in Good Boys and I feel like him being so different from his parents he doesn't look up to them like other kids. He turns his head towards fantasy and Science Fiction. Which is something a lot of kids tend to be turning towards more recently. Which is perfect casting and now it much more relevant in how important it is to have the parents be supportive no matter what.

Each kid is influenced by something. And his parents let him become Gluttony.

16. Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Actress | Solo: A Star Wars Story

Phoebe Mary Waller-Bridge is an English actress, producer, and writer. She created, wrote, and starred in the Channel 4 sitcom Crashing (2016) and the BBC comedy-drama series Fleabag (2016-2019). She was also the show-runner and executive producer for the first series of the BBC America thriller ...

Bridgette Wright- A new character who I would to introduce as a single mother who son is best friends with Ruby. she keeps him during the week while the dad has him on weekends. They just recently divorce and she has her brother come over and keep her company. She is the polar opposite from the Farnsworth because of her viewpoints but she is still open minded and understands it is a big neighborhood and she makes friends with others their. People will point the finger at her because they believe her marriage to be hoax and she has all the free time doing suspicious activity by herself. Plus who doesn't love this woman and she is just an amazing actress with so much talent it is almost unbearable to believe how talented this woman is.

The Wright family will represent Wrath.

17. Bill Skarsgård

Actor | It

Bill Istvan Gunther Skarsgard is a Swedish actor, producer, director, writer, voice actor, and model. He is best known for portraying Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the supernatural horror films It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019), based on Stephen King's novel of the same name. He also voiced the ...

David Wright- (Younger brother of Bridgette) I mean they kinda do look like Aliens. But besides that he is also a new character but also no one i the neighborhood seen of heard about him which again raises suspicion when she brings him over the Marca's house for the party. I love the idea of brother and sister sticking together threw all of this instead of again husband and wife. Which this story will touch on single parents and the impact of divorce reflected on the child.

The Wright family will represent Wrath.

18. Jackson Robert Scott

Actor | It

Jackson Robert Scott is best known for his breakthrough role in the 2017 remake of Stephen King's It (2017) as the iconic character Georgie. Following his groundbreaking appearance in "It", Scott went on to land a series regular role in the pilot Locke & Key (2020) also directed by "It" ...

David Wright- (Son of Bridgette) The one weekend he decides to stay with his mom because he knew he gets to see Ruby and her family. He is influenced by her and how perfect he sees her family being. That is something he desperately really wants to have but can't seem to get it. Which is great because during the party conflict already starts between the two families based on beliefs and it hurts the relationship between the two kids. Which makes the two families dislike each other even more.

The Wright family will represent Wrath.

19. John Cho

Actor | Star Trek

John Yohan Cho was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to Los Angeles, California as a child. His father was a Christian minister. Cho was educated at Herbert Hoover High School at Glendale, before moving on to the University of California at Berkeley, where he studied English literature. Upon ...

Les Goodman- This character is in the episode and he plays the neighbor who wakes up late at night and stare up at the stars at night. First I love John Cho he has been amazing in almost everything he has been in and in 2018 Searching he was amazing. With the rise of many Asian talent rising up threw the ranks he always manages to play colorblind casting and it seems authentic when he is cast in whatever project he is in. So his character is one who recently got fired and now lives at home and has gotten lazier while his wife works. The word gets around town which puts his reputation in jeopardy for what has happen.

So he will be representing sloth.

20. Lucy Liu

Actress | Kill Bill: Vol. 1

Born to immigrants in New York City, Lucy Liu has always tried to balance an interest in her cultural heritage with a desire to move beyond a strictly Asian-American experience. Her mother, Cecilia, a biochemist, is from Beijing & her father, Tom Liu, a civil engineer, is from Shanghai. Once ...

Leah Goodman- We do see a lot relationships dealing with older men with younger woman. Hell I even put one together in this exact cast. Plus Lucy Liu is getting into the streaming service but she is still a great actress and she would be an awesome addition to this cast. Because of her husband being fired from his job Leah has to get a job back as realtor to support the family.

Sloth would apply to her because of her distance from her family and lack of interest trying to connect with them. The laziness of not trying to understand what they are going thru.

21. Hayley Kiyoko

Actress | Insidious: Chapter 3

Hayley first appeared in national commercials for GM, On Star, K-Mart, and Slim Jim, and became the TV spokesperson for Cinnamon Toast Crunch. In addition, she had a couple of guest star roles on Nickelodeon's Unfabulous (2004). As a dancer, she studied with Scotty Nyugen. She is a prolific ...

Natalie Goodman- The only teenage child in the neighborhood. I want to go away from the one Asian character being influenced by school but I also want to stay true to the culture because it is very important to represent the culture in a very authentic feel. Plus I know Hayley is also gay but I don't want to cast a gay person to play a gay person in the script because it doesn't call for that in the story. But casting a gay actress to play a straight character like Mindhunter and 13 Reason Why characters and those characters are not defined by their sexuality which I want to keep the same for her. Plus have you not seen her music videos that she directed herself. She is super talented with so much range and incredibly funny.

Sloth would apply to her by not wanting to live up to the potential of her smarts at school so she becomes lazy.

22. Alan Cumming

Actor | The Anniversary Party

Alan Cumming was born on January 27, 1965, in Aberfeldy, Scotland, to Mary (Darling), an insurance company secretary, and Alex Cumming. His family lived nearby in Dunkeld, where his father was a forester for Atholl Estate. The family (including his brother, Tom) moved to Fassfern near Fort William,...

Pete Van Horn- He goes out and tries to see in other neighborhoods if the same thing is happening all around. But when he comes back he gets shot. I intend to keep that part of the story but I want to add one element to his character. And I just wrote above by not casting gay actors to play gay characters but again this story is dealing with class and the class structure within a small community like the neighborhood which I find fascinating because this is not the 1950's anymore where that fear is there. This town actual is actual okay with him but only because he makes good money and helped out the Farnsworth with their partnership in the school fundraiser for their kids. His boyfriend visiting from England will play by Riz Ahmed.

Pete Van Horn will represent Lust by having multiple partners while going away on business.

23. Riz Ahmed

Actor | Sound of Metal

Riz Ahmed (born 1 December 1982), also known by his stage name Riz MC and birth name Rizwan Ahmed, is a British Pakistani actor, rapper, and activist. As an actor, he has won one Emmy Award, out of two Emmy nominations, and was also nominated for a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, and three...

Will Malik- Being both a citizen from England and Pakistan he meet Pete when Pete was making a business plan with his company and Will and Pete fell for each other. So when Marcus throws his party he invites them to the party and the good news is that they both feel welcome. That is whole point and which is why Pete feels obligated to go and check out the other neighborhoods. Which then he turns on the neighborhood for they have done.

24. Dylan O'Brien

Actor | Teen Wolf

Dylan O'Brien was born in New York City, to Lisa Rhodes, a former actress who also ran an acting school, and Patrick B. O'Brien, a camera operator. His father is of Irish descent and his mother is of English, Spanish, and Italian ancestry. Dylan grew up in Springfield Township, Union County, New ...

Peter Paige-Peter Paige- Now onto the poorest people on the block the ones who don't really belong their. But it wasn't Marcus' idea to invite them but Gabrielle is the one who insists on inviting them to the party. Failed actor who bust his ass at a warehouse just to pay rent. But this is best off of class which is why everyone will point the finger at them because they are poor. Plus I am a huge fan of this guy. He is awesome and so sympathetic in The Boys which makes him perfect for the part. And I like the idea of Margaret Qualley as his girlfriend.

This part of the neighborhood represents Envy.

25. Margaret Qualley

Actress | Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood

Margaret Qualley was born on October 23, 1994 in Kalispell, Montana, USA. She is an actress and producer, known for Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019), Fosse/Verdon (2019) and Kenzo World (2016). She has been married to Jack Antonoff since August 19, 2023.

Rachel Butler- Peter's girlfriend but also in the same boat as him because she is also has to get a job where she busts her ass as well at a restaurant just to make ends meet for her and Peter. I think she is a great actress and she has a ton of range. Here she is also very sympathetic in her position. But again never playing the victim card and understand she has to step up to reality and believe not everything goes in favor for her. but her and Peter have the only one story house in the neighborhood but feel honored and grateful for being invited to the party. But they get first accused because of their position and where they are.

This part of the neighborhood represents Envy.

26. Evan Peters

Actor | X-Men: Apocalypse

Evan Peters was born in 1987 in St. Louis, Missouri to Phil and Julie Peters. When his father's job was transferred, the family moved to Grand Blanc, Michigan. There, Evan began taking acting classes and at age 15, he moved with his mother to Los Angeles in hopes of pursuing a career in the ...

SPOILER

Alien- Well if you have not seen the original episode then you know it did turn out it was Aliens all along and they were the ones who were working behind the scenes in the neighborhood. They will have a larger part in the movie.

27. Jesse Williams

Actor | The Cabin in the Woods

Jesse Wesley Williams born August 5, 1981 is a former high school teacher and activist turned actor/director. He's best known for his role as Dr. Jackson Avery on the ABC Television series Grey's Anatomy and his advocacy for the disenfranchised, highlighted by his internationally resonant ...

Another addition to the Alien pack.

28. Brandon Flynn

Actor | Hellraiser

Miami-born actor Brandon Flynn is known for his role as Justin Foley on Netflix's 13 Reasons Why (2017).

Brandon has appeared in commercials, and on stage, first as Mr. Smee in Peter Pan, at ten years old, and recently as Luke in the off-Broadway production of Kid Victory, at the Vineyard Theatre. ...

Apart of the Alien pack. Plus I am betting this guy will be a break out star. He is awesome as Justin in 13 Reasons Why and he should get more work.
