Vin Diesel Xander Cage Update (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
The xXx franchise has always been known for its high-octane action and outrageous stunts, with Vin Diesel front and center as the legendary Xander Cage. The original film in 2002 was a box office sensation, raking in $277 million worldwide. But after Diesel skipped out on the sequel, xXx: State of the Union (replacing him with Ice Cube), the franchise took a nosedive with a much lower $71 million gross.
Fast forward to 2017, Diesel made a significant return in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, and the film earned a solid $346 million. Naturally, fans were buzzing about xXx 4, but now there’s a bit of a disappointing update from one of the franchise stars.

Nearly a decade after the release of the latest installment in the franchise, demand for xXx 4 has been high, but will the Vin Diesel franchise ever actually return? Vin Diesel has carried his Fast & Furious franchise to ten movies and counting, and he is also bringing back Riddick for a fourth outing in the near future. That means that the xXx franchise is never really dead in the water, and the chances of Diesel reprising one of his other signature roles is never zero. Unfortunately, there's been little movement on Xander Cage's return.
xXx premiered in 2002 with Vin Diesel in the lead as Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast, and rebellious stuntman who works for the National Security Agency infiltrating a dangerous terrorist organization. The second movie arrived in 2005, but just as Diesel left the Fast & Furious franchise after just one movie, he did the same here,...

It's a bad day to be a Xander Cage fan. xXx 4 has just received a frustrating update from franchise star Ruby Rose.
Speaking with Screen Rant to promote her new movie Dirty Angels, Rose shared that it has been some time since she heard anything new regarding xXx 4. "I haven't heard anything. I haven't heard anything since 1974," she laughed. "No, I don't know. I would hope so because I would love to work with that cast and crew again. [They're] incredible people." As for what is holding xXx 4 up, Rose believed that "Vin [Diesel]'s busy doing lots of Fast and The Furious 312 and I don't know, but that would be, that was another really fun mission movie, I guess might've been my only other real mission movie, but very different tonally than Dirty Angels."

Vin Diesel’s long-awaited Xander Cage 4 gets a disappointing update from a star of the franchise. The first xXx was an over-the-top hit in 2002, with Diesel at the center of the ridiculous Rob Cohen-directed action. That movie’s $277 million worldwide gross guaranteed a sequel, but Diesel himself elected not to come back for xXx: State of the Union, which instead starred Ice Cube. After torpedoing the second xXx movie by bailing out (box office sagged to $71 million without him), Diesel made amends with his 2017 Xander Cage return, which grossed $346 million, spurring hopes of xXx 4.
It's now been over seven years since xXx: Return of Xander Cage graced movie screens, and it's looking like there may never be a follow-up, as franchise star Ruby Rose just shared a disappointing status update on the would-be action sequel, in an exclusive interview with ScreenRant. Vin Diesel is (fast and) furiously moving through a bevy of new creative projects. There’s Fast X: Part 2, the second installment of Fast X, which arrives in 2026. Meanwhile, Mary director D.J. Caruso, who worked with Diesel on xXx: Return of Xander Cage, is reportedly taking on another Diesel franchise offering, xXx 4, which has yet to head into production. Recently, Caruso and Diesel haven't hidden their immense appreciation for each other.
In early 2024, Diesel captured attention after posting an Instagram comment about Caruso, mentioning how his daughter, Hania Riley Sinclair, was moved to tears when she read a script Caruso gave him to consider. “My oldest daughter read the script that D.J. sent to me, thinking that it would fall into The Pacifier bracket,” the star wrote. “She cried… I asked her why she cried, and she said because the story of a brother and sister rang true for her,...

It was 2017 the last time we saw Vin Diesel‘s action hero Xander Cage in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, but a fourth movie just got a little closer with some big news, and the Fast & Furious star has been getting fans excited on social media. According to Deadline, xXx 4 is on the upcoming slate of production company The H Collective, although production could get delayed due to the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes. It was previously reported that D.J. Caruso would return as director, with Diesel starring alongside Jay Chou (The Green Hornet) and Zoe Zhang (Eternal Wave). There is also a holdup due to a lawsuit from Weying Galaxy Entertainment, which claims H Collective and Diesel breached a contract on the production rights for xXx 4. The suit remains active as of writing. Further teasing a fourth movie in the franchise, which is a huge worldwide streaming hit,...

A fourth xXx movie is still in early development, though audiences could be waiting a while for the return of Xander Cage. The last audiences saw of Vin Diesel's action hero was in 2017's xXx: Return of Xander Cage, which saw huge box office success despite middling reviews. Vin Diesel is also set to return as the character Riddick in the upcoming film Riddick: Furya, which will explore the character's origin.
A fourth movie in the action franchise xXx is still in early development courtesy of production company The H Collective. Audiences have not seen Vin Diesel’s tattooed action hero since 2017’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage, but it sounds like a fourth movie is still on the cards. Though it could take a while...

While there is no major xXx 4 news, it seems that Vin Diesel has enjoyed success in many of his franchises and fans should never count anything out. He has carried his Fast & Furious franchise to ten movies and counting, and he is also bringing back Riddick for a fourth outing in the near future. That means that fans of the xXx franchise shouldn't give up hope in seeing Xander Cage back again doing what he does best - saving the world as a James Bond-esque extreme sports action hero. However, when this movie arrives is anyone's question.
xXx started as a franchise in 2002 with Vin Diesel in the lead as Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast, and rebellious stuntman who began to work for the National Security Agency as a superspy, sent in to infiltrate a dangerous terrorist organization. We've got some encouraging, yet also surprising news for those who have been hoping to see The Expendables 4 happen. It appears as though we are getting a fourth entry in the franchise, but it will instead be a spin-off mostly centered around Jason Statham's character, Lee Christmas. Somewhat appropriately, the movie is said to be tentatively titled The Expendables: A Christmas Story.
According to a new report, this Jason Statham centered spin-off has been in the works for some time. We also know that The Expendables 4 has been kicking around as well, but this spin-off may be what came out of the development process. In any event, plot details are being kept under wraps, but it's said Sylvester Stallone's Barney Ross will appear. Though he will have less screen time his role will reportedly be "an emotional one." Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tony Jaa are also tentatively attached to the project,...

XXX 4 is gearing up for production and they've just locked in a key piece of the puzzle. Legendary Japanese rockstar and drummer/co-founder of the band X Japan, Yoshiki is set to score the upcoming installment of the action franchise, in addition to composing a new theme song. It's amazing that it's taken this long for Vin Diesel's Xander Cage to get his own theme song, but better late than never.
The news came to light via a press release from The H Collective, the production company behind xXx 4. The rockstar previously worked on soundtracks for movies such as Saw IV and Repo! The Genetic Opera, as well as the anime series Attack on Titan. The studio is apparently very happy to be working with Yoshiki Hayashi as they've also tapped him to compose music for another one of their projects, the animated feature Spycies. Yoshiki had this...

Another day, another franchise for Vin Diesel. The Fast and Furious star has truly asserted himself as a man who can carry a franchise on his back and now, Stx Films has locked him down for the action/comedy Muscle. Diesel will star in and produce the movie for Stx. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but the studio is eyeing the property as a potential franchise.
Currently, there are precious few details available for Muscle, other than the fact that they are hoping this is going to be more than just a one-off deal. One Race Films' Samantha Vincent will produce the movie alongside Vin Diesel, with Reginald Hudlin and Byron Phillips, the ones who brought the project to the studio, also on board as producers. Here's what Chairman of Stx Films Adam Fogelson had this to say about it.
