The entire industry is reeling today in the wake of reports that Lance Reddick, the star of acclaimed movies and shows like "The Wire," "Fringe," "Lost," and most recently the "John Wick" franchise, has passed away at the age of 60. We'll be sure to update as more information comes in regarding this shocking and unexpected news.

Lance Reddick, a veteran character actor best known for key supporting roles in films like “John Wick” and “One Night in Miami” and TV series like “Fringe” and “The Wire,” has died at the age of 60.
The actor was found in his Studio City home Friday morning at around 9:30 a.m., according to media reports. The cause of death has, at this time, not been revealed, though it is alleged to be natural. His rep at Portrait PR confirmed the news to TheWrap.
The actor was currently promoting his fourth appearance as Charon, the loyal and beloved concierge at the Continental in “John Wick: Chapter 4” following the first “John Wick” in 2014 and the second and third installments in 2017 and 2019. That was just one high-profile property on which he put his unique stamp, offering a mix of subtle menace and above-it-all bemusement to all five seasons of “Fringe” and the later seasons of “Lost.

Now in its second season, Titans has gradually built a reputation as one of the stronger DC television adaptations of recent years, and will likely survive any future changes to DC Universe and the possible transfer of shows to HBO Max. Not only that, but our sources – the same ones who gave us the scoop on that Green Lantern series before it was announced – are now telling us that Titans will be getting a Deathstroke spinoff, focusing on Esai Morales’ version of the character. Although it hasn’t been officially greenlit, the show is in early development and, from what we’ve heard, very likely to go ahead.
Morales’ Deathstroke, otherwise known as Slade Wilson, has been the chief antagonist of Titans‘ second season, with recent episodes fleshing out the assassin’s past conflict with Dick Grayson’s team. Furthermore, we’ve seen Wilson’s children Jericho and Rose, and in the most recent episode,...

Being someone who didn’t quite know what to think about the upcoming Birds of Prey movie, I was pleased to find the first full trailer that debuted earlier today rather impressive. If anything, we’ve been given the impression that Cathy Yan’s foray into the DC Universe will be highly entertaining and in keeping with Harley Quinn’s brand of irreverent humor.
Still, it’s hard for me to shake how none of the characters featured actually resemble their comic book counterparts, but I’ll probably get over it (for the most part) if the movie itself lives up to the hype. That said, I’m right there with those of you who are perplexed by how Black Mask doesn’t actually where, you know, a mask of any sort. Perhaps he’ll gain one before the movie is over. I don’t know. But fingers remain crossed.

Now that Gotham is coming to a close, it looks as though the realm of television isn’t finished exploring what happened before Batman donned the cape and cowl. In fact, Epix will soon venture even further back on the timeline with the 10-episode series known as Pennyworth.
Set to explore Alfred Pennyworth’s earlier days, the show will detail what life was like for gentleman’s gentleman in 1960’s London. Although we have a few months to go until it’s officially showtime, the first teaser trailer gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect, and can be viewed at the top of this article.
Truth be told, there actually is a lot of potential to be tapped here, as people can often forget about how the Dark Knight’s surrogate father was military intelligence in his younger days. Though this has been an aspect to the character for some time,...

Fortunately, we’re now able to put such speculation behind us, as the series responsible for first introducing us to Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill’s respective versions of Batman and the Joker has been given a high-definition upgrade.

Even though Black Lightning has thus far proven to be one of the more serious and dramatic DC TV shows currently airing, it’s been known to get somewhat meta at times. Don’t forget, an Outsiders comic book was proudly displayed during the first season, not to mention both Supergirl and Vixen being name-dropped at various points. Suffice it to say, that’s only fueled more speculation as to from which Earth these heroes originate.
Speaking of the Outsiders, it appears as though the cult favorite team will indeed be forming at some point during season 2. In addition to this series playing host to likes of Black Lightning, Thunder and Grace Choi, another piece of the puzzle will soon fall into place.
You see, the folks over at That Hashtag Show have learned of how the producers are currently seeking a Caucasian actress in her early 20’s for the recurring role of Looker.

One reason why the character of Batman has endured for 78 years is that he’s so malleable. Sure, there are intrinsic qualities that unite various interpretations such as his superior intellect, martial arts skills and care for his fellow man, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been portrayals on opposite ends of the spectrum. For example, both Adam West and Ben Affleck have brought something very different to the table, but neither man’s efforts were no less valid than the other – and the same sentiment can be extended to comics and animation.
Having said that, the time has come to embrace what the near future will bring. As it turns out, the Caped Crusader will once again venture to the Japanese anime arena, this time with Batman Ninja. Anyone who’s been keeping up with the third season of Gotham is well aware of how many twists and turns the series has taken in recent memory, delivering one powerful episode after another.
It looks like we can expect all that to continue in 2017, given that veteran actor James Remar (Code Black, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation) has been cast as Frank Gordon, Jim’s uncle, in a recurring role. His character is described as follows:
Frank Gordon is a master at playing both sides and a man who knows how to keep a secret. Frank abandoned the family after Jim’s father’s fatal car crash and now, 25 years later, he’s returned to reconnect with his estranged nephew. But Frank harbors a dark secret, one that will upset the very foundations of Jim’s world and force him into a terrible choice between saving his family and saving his city.

(Cbr) DC Comics-based animated series "Beware the Batman" has a Cartoon Network return date, but at a much later time slot than most would expect. According to a report last week by Toon Zone, "Beware the Batman" will join the Adult Swim "Toonami" block Saturday, May 10 at 3 a.m. -- surprising scheduling given its previous, kid-friendly Saturday morning spot. In a subsequent report published by IGN on Monday, the site reported that the Toonami airings of "Beware the Batman" will start with the show's first 11 installments, before the show's 15 previously unaired episodes debut in that time slot starting on July 27. It's a fairly clear instance of a network burning off produced episodes of a show that has otherwise been scrapped. "Beware the Batman," a CGI-animated Batman series featuring a more hands-on role for Alfred and Katana as a major part of the supporting cast, debuted on July 13, 2013 as part...

Beware The Batman is a show that first aired in summer 2013 on DC Nation. While we don't know exactly why, the series was put on hiatus on October of that year. While it was supposed to return January 2014, the series was pushed back. Despite numerous beliefs that show would be canceled, it has been confirmed that it will return on May 10. And yes, this is 100% confirmed. Due to the fact that reactions for the show were mixed, many were hoping the series would be canceled and it's DC Nation slot would be replaced with a different show. Good news. Those people don't have to worry. Rather than coming back to DC Nation, the series will instead air on Cartoon Network's Toonami block. Every episode of the series, including all 15 of the unaired episodes, will eventually air on Toonami. The head of Toonami, Jason DeMarco, tweeted: "#Toonami fans- yes...

They say unseen footage will be shown. Now, this is subjective, because we only had 11 episodes air in the United States, two more on the DVD / Blu-Ray release and a few more have aired overseas for those that can find them for download, so more than likely it will be one of these epsiodes, but we don't have confirmation yet. You can’t keep a shadowy vigilante down. I think this is Batman’s 50th animated TV show in the last ten years. I could be wrong, of course, but it sure seems like, out of all of D.C.’s superheroes, the Caped Crusader gets the most love. While Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy is acknowledged as a triumph of the action film/comic book genres, did the series ultimately do as much harm as good to the entertainment industry? As well done as they films were, is the vast shadow from the Nolan/Bale trilogy doing damage to the film/TV medium?

Kevin Smith and Paul Dini opened up a can of worms during a recent chat on Smith's podcast "Fatman on Batman." During a discussion about the Cartoon Network series "Beware the Batman," Dini explained why Cartoon Network and other networks that air superhero cartoons aren't trying to grab a female audience in addition to their male one.
"They're all for boys -- 'We do not want the girls.' I mean, I've heard executives say this, you know, not [at Disney Xd] but at other places, saying like, 'We do not want girls watching this show,'" he tells an incredulous Smith. "They. Do. Not. Buy. Toys. The girls buy different toys."
As io9 points out, action figures and role-playing toys accounted for $1.39 billion in the Toy Industry Association's published sales data in 2012, while the sale of dolls accounted for $2.69 billion. While Smith laments in the interview that executives are being lazy by...

Nominations for the 41st Annual Annie Awards were announced and "Frozen" and "Monsters University" led the pack with 10 nominations each. "Despicable Me 2" and "The Croods" followed closely with 9 noms each.
I am rooting for "Frozen" to win! It's a return to form to what Disney does best -- affecting fairy tale with memorable musical numbers. "Monsters University," on the other hand, was bland. The film bored me on second viewing.
Steven Spielberg will receive the Winsor McCay Award for career achievement at the awards ceremony happening on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus. Patrick Warburton will serve as host.
