American Idol alum Danny Gokey is back with new music!
The 36-year-old chart-topping singer has released his fifth studio album, Rise, which he hopes will “bring people together.”
After becoming a finalist on the eighth season of Idol, Gokey found a place in the Christian music world — with the help of some important lessons learned on the show.
“When I went on American Idol it opened up a whole new world to me, because before then I sang in church and in praise and worship meetings,” Gokey tells People. “I was so stuck in church, but there was this whole world out there.

There are few better things than watching Jon Hamm let loose on the big screen, especially after so many years of internal brooding as the one and only Don Draper on AMC’s “Mad Men,” which means everyone should keep an eye out for “Keeping Up With The Joneses.” Directed by Greg Mottola of “Superbad” fame, “Joneses” centers around two suburban couples — one played by Isla Fisher and Zach Galifianakas, the other by Hamm and Gal Gadot — who get in way over their heads when it is revealed that the latter are actually spies.

The official synopsis from 20th Century Fox reads: “An ordinary suburban couple (Galifianakis, Isla Fisher) finds it’s not easy keeping up with the Joneses (Hamm, Gadot) – their impossibly gorgeous and ultra-sophisticated new neighbors – especially when they discover that Mr. and Mrs. “Jones” are covert operatives.

“The League,” Fxx’s heavily improvised comedy, was a literal league of absurd people pulling absurd jokes in absurdly complex fashion.
Read More: The Legacy of ‘The League,’ According to Its Cast and Creators
Through sabotage, manipulation and trickery, the show had some incredibly funny moments, which did not stop even in the very end. For those that watched, the final minutes of the show’s “Final Fantasy” season brought out some of the biggest cringe-laughs of its seven season run because of its almost unbelievable cruelty, making it all the funnier.
IndieWire is exclusively debuting a clip [Spoilers] showcasing the big reveal of that very joke from DVD bonus features ahead of both the Season 7 home release and the Complete Series Collector’s DVD Set release tomorrow.
To think that the gang would hide such a secret for so long and to think that Pete would passively comply is hilariously horrifying. “The League,” which ended its run last December, never failed to surprise fans with its highly-anticipated hijinks; which, makes it all the more of an accomplishment.

Singer Isabel Rose is celebrating the release of her new album Trouble in Paradise in style with a gig at Manhattan's 54 Below. Rose finds her stylistic inspiration in the pre-hippie 60s. "I'm not a pastiche act," she told uInterview exclusively. "I'm a here-and-now performer, influenced by that era, but really performing in the here and now."
For the title song's video, Rose had a little help from some of Gotham's leading drag queens — Hedda Lettuce, Paige Turner and Ivy Winters. "I learned so much from them, they are so fun, so talented, and they really represented the theme of the song and that is that nothing is at it seems," Rose said.

The diabolical creation of dark electronic artist Jasyn Bangert, God Module often sits apart from the conventions of horror-themed gothic/industrial music thanks to Bangert's personal approach to songwriting – which taps into the artist's childhood nightmares – coupled with a looser, more freestyle genre blend. With the debut of the band's sixth full-length album False Face, Bangert makes a relatively bold move by incorporating more pop elements and melodic hooks than all of his previous releases combined. As counter-intuitive as that approach may seem for a band known for its grim, macabre sensibilities, it turns out to be just the shot in the arm needed to take the music to a compelling new level. That's not to say that False Face isn't every bit as dark and ominous in tone as the band's excellent 2011 release Séance; this is seriously spooky and intense stuff, tapping once again into Jasyn's childhood experiences... or in one specific case,...

For the title character in Don Jon , life is a banquet: cool car, nice pad, steady job, a new honey in the sack every week... and porn. Lots of porn. It's that more-than-a-little unhealthy addiction to internet skin flicks that keeps Don (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) from being able to truly connect to the new lady in his life, Barbara (Scarlett Johansson). But when he meets a more mature woman (Julianne Moore), their unexpected connection shows him that he can have more. The versatile star of such recent hits as Looper , Inception and The Dark Knight Rises , Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes his directorial debut with this charming and insightful romantic comedy with a modern twist. We had the opportunity to talk to both him and his stunning co-star Johansson about how Don Jon transcends...

Andre Villas-Boas may deny it, but Spurs are showing real signs that they could be a team who are capable of challenging on all fronts come May – including the Premier League.
Having sold Gareth Bale to Real Madrid (albeit for a world record transfer fee) over the summer, few people would have expected Spurs to be doing as well as they are – even with the massive amount of cash laid out on incoming transfers – but they are flying high and the early signs are very good for the Lilywhites – especially with the likes of Manchester United stuttering early on with their new manager and a distinct shortage of new faces.
This season, Spurs could quite easily sneak in under the radar and launch a genuine assault on the Premier League title.

Nicolas Cage is once again playing a hard-drinker in his latest film, Joe, premiering in competition at the Venice Film Festival, but his approach to the role has evolved since his Oscar-winning performance inLeaving Las Vegas.
For the 1995 role of suicidal alcoholic Ben Sanderson, Cage said he was "exploring all ways of finding the honesty of the performance. And if that meant drinking, and videotaping myself drinking, and get ideas about that, I was going to do that."
But that was another time.
"I was completely not doing anything and hadn't done anything for a while" when he played a pain killer-addicted detective in Werner Herzog's 2009 Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call- New Orleans, which premiered in Venice. "It was more a sensory recall of the past," he said, "and trying to find what those feelings might have been like. And I was happy with those results."

The love for ballet usually starts early. Children either love the rhythms of dance class or they fall under the spell of a performance, where the costumes are as enticing as the dancers.
Onstage, dancers appear magical: ballerinas in costumes that make them look as if they could float as they glide about on their toes, men who stay suspended as they leap into the air. Everyone seems to defy gravity.
Those children who fall in love with ballet yearn to someday wear the costumes that look as if they came from fairy tales.
David Heuvel, costume designer for Ballet West, the dance company featured on The CW's Monday series "Breaking Pointe," has been designing such costumes for years.
The costume "can be whatever you need it to be as long it moves and breathes with the body," he tells Zap2it.

The Lone Ranger is a muddled, occasionally excellent blockbuster, that demands to be seen on the big screen, Simon argues...
Say what you like about The Lone Ranger, but it's a bold, brassy risk in the midst of a blockbuster culture that it feels far removed from. Enormously expensive to make, the beauty here is that you can tell, for the right reasons. The landscapes look amazing, the production design is exquisite, the action sequences feel real and tangible, and the money spent on enormous trains and practical work is clear to see. There are moments when computer effects come in and take the sheen off it a little, but those are far from in the majority. There are lots of problems with The Lone Ranger, which we'll come to, but sheer ambition is not one of them.

Jimmy Palmiotti On Their Response To Being Chosen For The Title: When we were offered the book, it wasn't something we said yes to right away. We needed to do a lot of reading and playing catch up on what the character has been up to since we knew the other version so well. Amanda and I spent a lot of time talking about approach, if we can find a real voice for the character , and what the series would be about before we sent in our pitch. On the surface, this is a no brainer with the two of us writing, but like anything else we do together, we needed to really dig in and find the who , what and where of the new Harley. Amanda Conner On Harley's Look In The Series: I am trying to incorporate my favorite things about her latest look and her early costume.

Now that the self-styled “Special One” is back for a second crack of the whip in the Premier League, we are practically guaranteed an exciting season next term.
Not since 2010 has a side residing from outside the reaches of the Cheshire Plains won the league title with both Manchester clubs dominating the last three campaigns.
However, the return of Mourinho and the invariable big-money signings that will likely come with his appointment promise to set up a close, three-horse race when the Premier League gets back underway come August.
This is, after all, a man who spent a jaw-dropping £225.76 million on new signings between 2005 and 2007.
The club yesterday completed the signing of Bayer Leverkusen’s Andre Schurrle for £18 million and you just know there are more high profile names on their way as Roman Abramovich opens his chequebook to fund yet another assault on the title.
But that’s perhaps a good thing.

Quentin Tarantino making a Western sounds like the coolest coupling of director and genre since Scorsese noodled with the mafia, and judging from the rootin' tootin' trailer for "Django Unchained," it just might live up to our cinema-junkie expectations.
For his smash hit "Inglourious Basterds," Tarantino gave Jews their ultimate revenge fantasy by allowing Eli Roth to smoke Hitler, and we loved every minute of it. Now imagine him applying that same gonzo, pop culture-laden sensibility to a freed African-American slave riding dusty trails, scouting filthy saloons, or going up against heaps o' redneck crackers with itchy trigger fingers. Now you get the picture.
Here's all you should possibly know to get in the saddle with the "Pulp Fiction" maestro for his trip to the wild, wild ... South?

You've seen Paul F. Tompkins in TV shows, films, and commercials, but this weekend he's taking center stage. Laboring Under Delusions, Pft's latest Comedy Central hour-long special, premieres Saturday night at 11 p.m. While Tompkins covers a wide variety of topics in his act, his new special is all about work -- namely those less-than-glamorous jobs you take in pursuit of a show-business career.
I spoke to Pft about his work experience, his stand-up career, and the advice he'd give to anyone stuck in what feels like a dead-end job.
Louis Peitzman: What can we as an audience expect from a Paul F. Tompkins comedy special?
Paul F. Tompkins: I'm going to say genial good humor, a certain panache, and oratorical skill.
Louis Peitzman: Your new Comedy Central special is Laboring Under Delusions. How did you come up with the theme, and how did you arrive at that title?...

This weekend, friend and former Bwe cute competitor Arpan Podduturi revealed to me his Halloween costume: Prince Akeem’s McDowell’s costume from Coming To America. Little did Arpan know that Coming To America is my #1 favorite movie of all time, i.e. I had 9 conniptions when I saw the pic, tossing a strawberry shake into his face while calling everyone I know on my Hamburger Phone to alert them to his genius. Then I wondered: Perhaps there were others. Other geniuses who also dressed up as folks from Coming to America. And there were, but not many. Below, the 10 Best Coming To America Halloween Costumes Ever. Sadly, I couldn’t find any of the Barbershop Guys… For the record, next year Dan Hopper and I are going like this. First up, Arpan himself! Hopefully he didn’t spend a cool $900 on this. 10. Prince Akeem: Sir, did you happen to...
