Disclaimer: This post contains spoilers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Prior to the release of last year’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, there were numerous rumors regarding the reshoots of that movie. Obviously, in recent years, reshoots have become a normal and necessary part of blockbusters, however, having several weeks of reshoots that reportedly resulted nearly half the film being reshot didn’t seem to bode well for the Star Wars spinoff.
But what changes would they be making? My cynical side assumed it had to do with a bummer ending. With a film like Rogue One, it would seem unlikely there would be any real survivors, otherwise it would be difficult to justify their absence in the subsequent Star Wars films. While killing off the leads of the film seemed like the natural way to go, would Lucasfilm actually allow it?

Last Week’S Review: ‘Game of Thrones’ Keeps The Violence Off Screen As Battles Build
Every week this season, Indiewire will be bringing you a unique collection of viewpoints on “Game of Thrones,” as it is a show that elicits a unique sort of reactions. Our writers are well-versed in the world of the show and the culture surrounding it, and we look forward to seeing how their opinions fare in the cutthroat world of Westeros… Sorry, that is, the cutthroat world of television criticism.
What Happened This Week?
If you were thinking that this week’s episode would be nothing but epic battles, you were technically incorrect. That said, there were two important battlefield clashes in “The Battle of Bastards.”
First, Daenerys fought off slaver forces with both dragons and diplomacy, per the advice of Tyrion — because no one tells Daenerys that her reign is over. In fact, her reign has just begun,...

We’re mere hours into the new year and the quality-tv benchmark has already been set (spoiler alert: it’s high).
On Friday, PBS aired Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, a 90-minute one-off movie that found Sherlock and Watson doing their mystery-solving thing in 1890s London. The special — told from the POV of a present-day, drug-addled Holmes — was everything this Baker Street aficionado was hoping for and more. An engrossing case? Check. Sumptuous visuals, like those floating newspaper clippings? Check. Crackling dialogue? Check. Masterful performances from leads Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman? Check and check.
Sherlock and Watson’s mission this time around: to figure out how a gun-toting bride was able to commit suicide in full public view only to turn up hours later alive and well enough to murder her husband. Sherlock immediately scoffed at Watson’s “Could it have been twins?” theory. “No,” he shoots back. “It’s never twins.”
Given the standalone conceit, the special didn’t exactly push forward the series’ central mythology, eschewing traditional plot movement for trippy parallels and fun Easter eggs. There was, however, a potentially key development in the mystery surrounding Moriarty’s fate (as you’ll recall, Season 3 ended with the presumed-dead Big Bad resurfacing on UK television, boasting. “Did you miss me?”). The similarities between the “resurrections” of the titular bride (in the past) and Moriarty (in the present) were not lost on Sherlock.
In the end, however, the former case apparently did not end up informing the latter, with Sherlock ultimately echoing Ep Steven Moffat’s earlier assertion that “Moriarty is dead — no question.”
I suppose we’ll have to wait until the arrival of the three-episode Season 4 in Jan. 2017 to get a definitive answer to that beguiling question.
The 90-minute period piece’s standout sequence? Watson grilling Sherlock about his lovelorn existence, zeroing in specifically on his partner’s feelings for Irene Adler. Summed up Holmes: “All emotion is abhorrent to me.”
Were you as smitten with Bride as I was? Scroll down and assign the special a grade, then elaborate in the comments!

Next summer will see the release of Bryan Singer's fourth X-Men movie, and judging by the trailer, it appears to be the director's darkest — and most star-studded — contribution to the constantly evolving superhero franchise. Arriving two years after Days of Future Past, the latest adventures of the mutant superheroes — X-Men: Apocalypse — will introduce its villainous title character to the series.

The first full trailer for "X-Men: Apocalypse" dropped this morning, and it's bursting with new characters, explosive action sequences, and a feeling of dread that can really only be applied to a film with "Apocalypse" for a subtitle.
The literally-dark mood certainly suggests the end of days, and the clip begins with Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) waking with a start, telling Professor X (James McAvoy) that she "saw the end of the world," littered with death. X assures her it was just a dream, but it turns out to be a very real nightmare soon enough.
Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), believed to be the first-ever mutant, has awakened from an ancient sleep, and makes quick work of taking over the minds of several mutants, harnessing Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (soon-to-be-Archangel, Ben Hardy), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) into his own version of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. After a long wait, the final part of The Hunger Games is here. Will Katniss and co get a proper send-off?
This review contains spoilers for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
Brace yourself. The end of The Hunger Games is nigh, and it’s gonna hurt like hell.
At the end of Mockingjay Part 1, we left Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) tearfully watching her sometime lover Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) thrash against his restraints. District 13 had rescued the captive rebels from the Capitol, but weeks of torture had left them weak, confused, and even dangerous. President Coin (Julianne Moore) was gearing up her army for a new strike against the tyrannical President Snow’s (Donald Sutherland) regime, but actually winning the war looked like an impossible dream.
It was a bummer of a place to leave the story for a year, and it’s still a bummer when...

Although you won't be seeing the recently departed Beth Greene on the cult TV show The Walking Dead anymore, be on the lookout for her very real, very living counterpart Emily Kinney. To promote the actor/singer's debut album, This Is War, the fresh-faced songstress performed a concert at the Highline Ballroom in New York City Thursday night. Luckily for us, our own E! Style Collective makeup maven Tina Turnbow helped the star get ready for the gig. Wearing a lace, cut-out dress and messy ponytail (styled by Jacob Rozenberg), Emily was a vision in white. Of course, the beauty pro then added an edgy flair, giving the entire look a stage-worthy value. "I wanted to...

This is not a nature documentary, though there are some beautiful scenes of the wild spaces of Democratic Republic of Congo’s Virunga National Park and its wildlife. No, Virunga is war journalism, and it is frequently tense and upsetting. It’s not all a traditional sort of war covered here, though there’s plenty of that, what with the Drc in political and social disarray and beset by armed conflict among various groups of rebels and militants. The other war is the one for the protection of the park, a Unesco World Heritage Site and home to the last group of mountain gorillas on the planet.

As 2014 ends and we head into 2015, one of the most anticipated events of new year is the premiere of Orphan Black Season 3. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Season 2, Episode 3, “The Jimmy Jab Games”
Written by Lakshmi Sundaram
Directed by Rebecca Asher
Airs Sundays at 8:30pm Et on Fox
It’s competition time again on Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 2 Episode 3, as the team engages in an elimination style tournament called the “Jimmy Jab Games”, an absurd series of competitive events that Peralta helped to spearhead. The Jimmy Jab Games began in 2008 when the President of Iran came to NYC and the Nine-Nine was on call to help with any potential protests. During those nine hours, Jake spent a good portion of that night tossing pieces of bagel into Scully’s open mouth, thus giving birth to the event. Jake makes a side bet with Rosa that if he wins the games she will give him her friend, Katie’s phone number. If Rosa wins, Jake will give her $200 and will never ask her for another phone number again.

David Ayer bit off a whole hell of a lot on the World War II drama "Fury." I'm not sure he could chew it all, but it's fascinating to watch the bevy of ideas bounce around on the screen nevertheless. It's a loud, bloody, gut-punching depiction, one that may or may not be too unsettling to appeal to Academy types but is still the best work Ayer has done, the most unflinching, and the most intriguing, certainly. In characterizing the movie as "one of the most daring studio movies in an awards season that will bring several World War II films," The New York Times had it pegged a few months back. This is the WWII your grandfather wouldn't talk about. It was bad. That point is probably driven home too much, even. "This is war, and war is hell." After all, you can only observe what a .50 caliber machine...

Sleepy Hollow is still bringing the fun and suspense in its second season. Here's Holly's review of The Kindred...
This review contains spoilers.
2.2 The Kindred
Ichabod Crane lives in so many different layers of reality that it’s a wonder he knows where he is at any given time. He’s living in a world that has changed monumentally in the centuries since his death, visits Purgatory when necessary, deals with vivid flashbacks to his previous lifetime, and is haunted by visions and nightmares that may or may not be real - or prophetic.
We join one of these nightmares in progress at the beginning of this week’s episode of Sleepy Hollow. At this point, it’s no surprise when he wakes up from any climactic moment, but scenes like this - with Katrina as damsel-in-distress about to be whacked by the Headless Horseman - are like a tantalizing...

Hey DEADheads, it’s Ryne from The Moon is a Dead World. We’re adding some shows to our roster this year, because it’s the fall season and the horror TV world is sort of busting at the seams. Shawn’s going to take Gotham, which isn’t really horror but it’s about fucking Batman so don’t bitch ya nerds. I’ve got Sleepy Hollow, heading into its sophomore season with another 13-episode arc. There’s definitely more to come, but these are the early premieres, along with the normal stuff like The Lottery, And Shawn’s show Z Nation.
The Lottery: “Mr. Torino” - Sunday, September 21 at 9 Pm
The Lottery is leading up to its explosive finale, or so the previews for next episode call it, and “Mr. Torino” is about setting all of those plans in motion. Alison and Vanessa have been attempting to find the owner of the Torino,...

Sleepy Hollow, Season 2, Episode 2, “The Kindred”

Abbie: “This is insane!”
Ichabod: “So much of my life can be classified under those auspices.”
- Sleepy Hollow, “The Kindred
It’s a rare show that can inspire fits of giggles simply by reading an episode description, and “The Kindred” certainly meets that bill: “Ichabod Crane concocts a daring plan to rescue his wife from the Headless Horseman by resurrecting a Frankenstein-like monster created by Benjamin Franklin.” It’s a sentence that reads like a pitch for a Pride and Prejudice and Zombies knockoff, rejected for being too absurd. And yet, not only does Sleepy Hollow embrace this idea for a story, they do so in a manner that makes the action plausible in the universe and turns it into fist-pumping excitement.

2.1 This Is War
If you, like me, are a newcomer to Sleepy Hollow, you’re likely just as delighted that something or someone brought you to this underratedly wonderful show before you went on too much longer with your life. I binge-watched season one in preparation for this week’s season two premiere, and by the time the first notes of Sympathy For The Devil played in the first few minutes of the pilot, I was beyond hooked. As episode after episode maintained consistent - though often charmingly outlandish - intrigue, well, I had no choice but to become a serious fangirl. Or Sleepyhead, as I believe they’re called.
The first season finale left us with some major cliffhangers - Jenny is unconscious or possibly...

Season 2 of Sleepy Hollow begins with our much-missed characters trying to save each other after the events of last season?s finale. However, the aptly-titled ?This is War? does not feature a single sighting of Irving. So while Irving presumably sits behind bars for a murder he did not commit, the other members of Team Apocalypse deal with more life-threatening concerns. Take a look at the most notable moments from episode 1. For more on what happened, check out the recap.

Sleepy Hollow, Season 2, Episode 1, “This Is War”
Written by Mark Goffman
Directed by Ken Olin
Airs Mondays at 9pm (Est) on Fox
Few shows are returning this fall with higher expectations than Fox’s Sleepy Hollow. What appeared last year to be an inexplicable pickup turned into the season’s most engaging new series, managing to successfully balance its utterly ridiculous concept with strong character work and a clever sense of humor. It was a win for quality that also translated into a ratings win for Fox, who made the interesting choice of bypassing a back-nine and ordering a second season right away. All of this was encouraging, but continued to raise the question of how long its brand of lunacy could be sustained, or if whatever energy the writers had grappled onto would dim in between seasons.
Those questions are answered in large part by “This Is War,” and...

Recently, Fox served up the new, official synopsis/spoilers for their upcoming "Sleepy Hollow" premiere episode 1 of season 2. The episode is entitled, "This Is War," and it turns out that we'll see Henry Parish locate a clue to the valuable artifact, Moloch tries to create a demonic army, and more! In the new episode 1 press release: In Sleepy Hollow, it would seem as though the status quo has been restored, but things in the formerly quaint town are never truly as they appear. Even now, how Crane managed to escape being betrayed and buried alive by his son, Jeremy (aka Henry Parish, aka the newly minted Horseman of War), or how Abbie freed herself from Purgatory, remains a mystery... even to them. What appears certain however is that while both Katrina and Jenny have apparently been lost, the Two Witnesses have not abandoned their quest to fight tirelessly against Moloch and his minions.

Jared Leto isn't taking the stage at tonight's Grammy Awards, but he took the red carpet by storm in La with his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. He looked dapper in a long black coat with gold and red accents with his brother Shannon - who accompanied him to a few other award shows this season - and bandmate Tomo Milicevic. Singer and Fifty Shades of Grey star Rita Ora also jumped in on a few of their photos, and Jared posed and hugged her excitedly. But the real fun happened when Jared was spotted with Steven Tyler and Smokey Robinson. Looks like Matthew McConaughey has some bromance competition on his hands! It was actually Jared's music that kept him away from acting for six years, as he focused on his band and its two latest albums, This Is War in 2009 and Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams in 2013, before he made Dallas Buyers Club.

Jared Leto is finally releasing his documentary Artifact, detailing his war with the music industry when record label Virgin/Emi sued his band 30 Seconds to Mars for $30 million in 2008.
Jared Leto's Documentary Artifact
Artifact began as a behind-the-scenes documentary of the making of the band’s album This Is War. When they began contract renegotiations with Emi during the recording process, the documentary quickly shifted into a sort of tell-all investigation into the relationship artists have with their record labels.
The movie, directed by Leto himself, first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012 where it won the People’s Choice Documentary Award, and, over a year later, is finally being released on VOD and iTunes.
“I’m excited to share our insight on how this business really works. We get down to the nitty-gritty. We talk about the business inside and out and reveal quite a few...

Awards season meteorologists (should we say astrologists?) are abuzz with predictions of possible gold in Jared Leto's future for "Dallas Buyers' Club:" the Matthew McConaughey star vehicle also features Leto's much-lauded performance of Rayon, a transgendered AIDS patient. It's Leto's first film role in four years (his last was the 2009 sci-fi drama "Mr. Nobody"), and in the meantime, Leto has spent nearly every waking hour of his life with Thirty Seconds to Mars, the rock band he leads along with his brother Shannon and Tomo Miličević, recording music and touring the world. Leto's directorial debut, the documentary "Artifact," hits iTunes today—originally planned as a making-of chronicle of the band's third album, "This Is War," it transformed into a music industry war documentary about Leto and Thirty Seconds to Mars's marathon contractual fight with their record label, Emi. "This is war... you never know who's listening." AMC's next original series is a thriller set in a world of espionage long before the age of Carrie Mathison and Nicholas Brody. "Turn" stars Jamie Bell (soon to be seen in "Nymphomaniac") as Abe Woodhull, a farmer living behind enemy lines in British-occupied Long Island during the American Revolutionary War who with a group of childhood friends forms The Culper Ring, a group of secret agents working to turn the tide of the conflict. The series is based on Alexander Rose's book "Washington’s Spies" and looks to feature all sorts of vintage tradecraft. Craig Silverstein ("Nikita") wrote and developed "Turn" and is serving as showrunner, with Rupert Wyatt ("Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes") directed the pilot and Seth Numrich ("The Good Wife"), Daniel Henshall ("The Snowtown Murders"), Heather Lind ("Boardwalk Empire") and more making up the cast.
