This article contains spoilers for X-Men ’97
X-Men ’97‘s Episode 9 saw Wolverine and Magneto play out one of their most brutal battles from the comics, which ended with Magneto ripping out the adamantium from Wolverine’s skeleton, leaving him on the brink of death. While this might be bringing a world of hurt to the character, the trajectory that is being set for the story might be great news for those who miss the X-Men’s resident Cajun.
Wolverine in X-Men ’97
Remy LeBeau tragically lost his life during the Sentinel assault on Genosha, which claimed the lives of a significant amount of mutants. In the most recent episode of the show, Wolverine found himself similarly indisposed after Magneto crippled the elder mutant. Given that these two characters become Horsemen of Apocalypse, a theory suggests it is quite possible it is something X-Men 97 is setting up.

This week I wanted to kick off talking about the cover. Modern covers tend to have a bad reputation. Perhaps there is an element of me being biased, but I love this cover by Lenil Yu! Visually it draws the eye with the dual bursts of gunfire. Secondly having Wolverine and Sabretooth side by side in their old Team X garb is going to have readers and potential readers curious. On the subject of Team X and my bias, this issue starts off strong. Wolverine? Check. Sabretooth? Check. Maverick? Check. Personally, though I would have liked more of the story dedicated to the flashback. Maybe an element where the events of the flashback inform the current goings-on. But who am I to call out Percy on how to tell a story? Really the Team X...

Ryan Reynolds has fans on their toes with each new update on Deadpool 3. Although the actor has played many impressive roles in his career spanning more than three decades, the most memorable of these unsurprisingly happens to be his role as Deadpool. Much to everyone’s delight, he has never failed to impress the fans with his performance as the Merc with a Mouth.
Even with fans’ love for superhero movies waning, Deadpool seems to be a character that no one gets enough of. Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool movie has added to the excitement for its release. That being said, this is a good chance to redeem one of the X-Men villains, who was wronged in 2017’s Logan.

I am a sucker for a good old-fashioned brawl between Wolverine and Sabretooth. They are actually few and far between when compared to other great comic book rivalries. Here is hoping that this is one for the ages! Just as a bug that is affecting all X-books at the moment is the timing. Again the cover carries the ‘Fall of X’ banner and on the credits page we get a caption explaining this story takes place after X-Force #50 and before the new Powers and House of X books. I have said before how wider continuity doesn’t bother me too much when it comes to reading Wolverine, but it can just take you out of the moment every now and then. The trailer for Deadpool 3 — officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine — was revealed during the 2024 Super Bowl on Sunday. Watch the first-look preview of the highly anticipated July 26th release below.
Ever since Disney bought 21st Century Fox back in 2019, comic book fans have been waiting for the pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe Fox characters to fully merge with the proper MCU. There have been hints since then — the post-credits cameo in The Marvels or the Quicksilver misdirect in WandaVision — but Deadpool 3 marks the first full-on incursion of the Fcu with the MCU.
Also marking Marvel’s first R-rated feature film, Deadpool 3 sees Ryan Reynold back as the Merc with a Mouth, this time set up as — in his own words — “Marvel Jesus.” As the trailer establishes, a happy Wade Wilson is recruited by the Time Variance Authority for a mission that could make him “a hero among heroes.”
What exactly that means isn’t clear,...

One of the most expected MCU projects currently is ‘Deadpool 3,’ with Ryan Reynolds returning as Merc With the Mouth and Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine, long after his story has been officially concluded in Fox’s “X-Men” franchise.
One of the concepts that explain Wolverine’s return is the fact that ‘Deadpool 3’ will dabble heavily into the Multiverse. This is to allow a smoother transition from Fox’s aforementioned franchise to the MCU, where ‘Deadpool 3’ is expected to take place continuity and timeline-wise.
Recently, Daniel Richtman unofficially commented on the plot of ‘Deadpool 3’ with claims that Deadpool and Wolverine will, at some point in the movie, be stuck in the dimension where they will be forced to fight former X-Men villains.
Rumor: A certa altura do filme, Deadpool e Wolverine ficam presos em uma dimensão onde precisam lutar contra muitos de seus antigos vilões X-Men.

For almost 35 years, Marvel lovers have had a different way of indulging their fandom than just voraciously reading the comics. In 1990, Impel released a set of licensed collectible cards featuring characters, battles, and key moments from throughout Marvel history (up to that point). Since then, not a year has gone by without more Marvel cards—some with exclusive art, some with special treatments like foiling, stamping, exclusive numbering, and holograms, and some with…questionable…art direction.
But fans have always snapped them up. And now, with the secondary market hotter than it has been in years, we present, in partnership with eBay, a brief history of some of the highest highs of Marvel collectible cards—both financially and artistically—and some of the lowest lows.

New York, NY — 60 years ago, Janet Van Dyne stood alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as they assembled for the very first time and named them the Avengers! Now, during the team’s milestone anniversary year, she’ll lead them into all-new territory in the brand-new Avengers Inc.
Debuting in September, this sharp new series will be crafted by two Marvel masterminds: writer Al Ewing and artist Leonard Kirk. Known for taking some of Marvel’s greatest icons into fresh and unexpected directions in titles like Immortal Hulk and Loki: Agent of Asgard, Ewing now delivers that same treatment to the Avengers mythos by blending noir and super hero storytelling for suspenseful adventures unlike any in Avengers history. With acclaimed work in dynamic comic book titles like the pulpy X-Factor and the recent horror-fueled Sabretooth series, Kirk is the perfect artist to mix thrilling Avengers action with tense investigating and super powered sleuthing.

This post contains spoilers for "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."
In both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel movies produced by other studios like Sony and Fox, there's a long history of bungling if not outright butchering great comic book villains. The Marvel Comics version of M.O.D.O.K. isn't in the same league as classic Fantastic Four baddies like Doctor Doom and Galactus, or top-tier X-Men villains like Apocalypse and Sabretooth. However, M.O.D.O.K. has been floating around in his Doomsday Chair — the hoverchair that supports the weight of his head — since 1967, and he's at least enough of a power player to have spawned his own stop-motion animated series, where he was voiced by comedian Patton Oswalt.
M.O.D.O.K. now joins the ranks of all the other poorly realized Marvel movie villains of the 2000s courtesy "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," which has made a live-action mess of him.

This week I bring you a review for the latest of The Beast Agenda in Wolverine #29 plus a retro review from Wolverine comics past. The reason for the retro review is that I missed a Wolverine comic this month! My credentials are slipping! I only found out on the day it came out that the one-shot Murderworld: Wolverine even existed. I contacted my Lcs right away, unfortunately they didn’t have one to send out in the post but they’ve ordered me one for next month. So I booted up the random number generated and I was relatively happy with the issue it spat out.

X Lives of Wolverine #5 Writer: Benjamin Percy | Artist: Joshua Cassara | Colourist: Frank Martin | Letters: Cory Petit
The curtain comes down on X Lives with a very well crafted issue, that strikes a good balance between story and action. The narration excellently explains everything that has been going on how it has all come to a head, clearing up some questions from the previous issues along the way. What makes this such a good issue and what makes it stand out for me is that not only does it wrap up the series so well, the story told within this issue kind of encapsulates the whole Wolverine mythos. While answers were provided I don’t think the ending was as satisfactory as it could have been, considering the hype the series had. It has felt throughout this series that with every positive there is a negative to keep all things balanced.

In these two issues we were promised the resumption in rivalry between Wolverine and Solem. Instead we get Wolverine facing off against a new character with some ties to Solem which all need to be explained before we get to the showdown. Wolverine has been so action packed in recent months that the events of X of Swords seems so distant now that having Solem return was met with trepidation by me. Most annoying of all is the fact he stars on the cover to #14 and proceeds to have very little screen time in the two issues. That said it is an eye catching cover, worthy of a potentially deadly nemesis. On the subject of covers #15 is amazing. Battle damaged Wolverine renditions are always fun. The blue neon like title font and the green hues really make this pop.

The X-Men will soon jump over to the McU now that Marvel has the rights back. Fans often talk about who could play the usual suspects in the franchise – Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, etc. – but let’s not forget that the studio has also got their hands on all those other X-characters that Fox has been wasting. Case in point: Sabretooth, Wolverine’s nemesis. Who could portray him in the McU, though? Well, why not Jason Momoa?
Boss Logic recently shared an amazing piece of art which casts the Aquaman actor as Victor Creed. He writes in the caption on his Instagram post that fans had asked him to do something with Momoa as Wolverine, but he personally thinks the star would be a better fit for Creed. And after looking at what he came up with, it’s hard to disagree with him.

“Logan” made Oscar history by becoming the first ever superhero movie to earn an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay — and writer/director James Mangold says they key to its success was focusing on what Logan fears most. It isn’t Sentinels, Sabretooth, or any of the legion of foes he’s dispatched over the decades. “For us, ‘Logan’ was always going to be a dramatic character piece,” Mangold, who wrote the film with Scott Frank and Michael Green, told TheWrap. “The last chapter of Wolverine’s arc, to us, should be about what he fears most, and that’s not the end of the...

Happy 2018 to everyone and I am predicting an exciting year for all things Wolverine related. All New Wolverine will continue to go from strength to strength under the pen of Tom Taylor and the name Honey Badger will be on everyone’s lips (if it isn’t already). I’m surprised and glad in equal measure that Weapon X survived the recent round of culling from Marvel. Perhaps the biggest thing to happen in 2018 will be the full return of 616 Wolverine. Last week he made his first ‘post credits’ appearance in Captain America #697. He was looking for Steve Rogers but was left disappointed. He will next be seen in MightyThor #703, where I guess he will find Thor is ,in fact, Jane… Wait I’m sensing a pattern here.

From Ghostbusters 3 to a Firefly reunion, videogames are doing what movies can't...
Tie-in video games are nothing new in the moviemaking or televisual world. Through these spin-off products, we can play out adventures featuring our favourite characters without having to leave the house.
Most of the time, though, said characters don’t sound quite right. For financial reasons, you’ll often see a different voice cast step in to replace the overly expensive stars from the original film or TV version. Admittedly, these stand-ins do a very good job from time to time. But you can always tell the difference.
Sometimes, though, providing a rare treat for fans, actors can be convinced – by money, passion or a good script - to reprise their iconic film or TV characters once more for a video game adventure. Here are 32 games that featured instances of this incredibly fun phenomenon…...

Last year we ran a schedule of every TV/Cable network schedule we could find that could be construed as Horror or Halloween related for the month of October. Let’s just say it proved useful for our readers and even for our staff when they were looking to find something to watch, wanted to program their DVR’s or didn’t want to miss out on some great “live” Horror. Isn’t there something about having a movie fed to you on TV as opposed to watching it on Blu-ray or DVD or streaming? We may not like commercials, but the randomness that you can associate with a TV program itinerary is novel. It removes a little bit of control from the audience who is all to concerned with being in control these days (just look at the reasons behind publishing a piece like this).

You don’t want to get stuck in Detention in Sabretooth/Children Of The Corn III director James D.R. Hickox’s new horror thriller about all the things wrong with staying after school. The film, not to be confused with the recent same-titled Sony acquisition, hits DVD this month from American World Pictures and Take 2 Releasing. This bloody Detention stars David Carradine (as the boozy high school principal) in one of his last roles. Check out comments from star and producer Alexa Jago, as well as exclusive photos, below the jump.

James D.R. Hickox James D.R. Hickox has been working in the business of horror for nearly twenty years scaring audiences across the world with his films which include Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest, Krocodylus (aka Blood Surf) and the recently released Detention starring the late, great David Carradine. What makes a James D.R. Hickox horror film feel like a James D.R. Hickox horror film, is that he has child age or teenage characters having to face some kind of horror within themselves while stuck in a horror type situation externally. There's a play on the struggles faced internally vs. externally. It's that play, that makes his work feel uniquely like him and makes his work stand out. It's interesting to see how his first film, Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest, just got recently re-released to DVD around the exact same time that his latest film Detention...

Starting today, Starlog will be posting information every Tuesday on the genre titles being released (or re-released) on DVD and Blu-ray. Here’s what’s out this week (today in fact):
DVD & Blu-ray Releases for June 2, 2009
Anacondas: Trail Of Blood (Sony, $24.96): This is the fourth (yup, fourth) installment in the giant snake series. Lord Of The Rings’ John Rhys-Davies plays a dying mogul named Murdoch in the flick. Think that’s just a coincidence?
Defiance (Paramount Home Video, DVD, $29.99; Blu-ray, $39.99): Why list this movie about Nazi Resistance fighters in Eastern Europe? Because it stars 007 himself, Daniel Craig. His brothers are played by Liev Schreiber (recently seen as Sabretooth in X-men: Origins: Wolverine) and King Kong’s Jamie Bell (upcoming as Steven Spielberg’s Tintin).
The Hunger: The Complete First Season (E1 Entertainment, $39.98): Hey, Daniel Craig again! He guests in an episode of the former Showtime...

Here is your first official look at Gambit in the upcoming stand-alone Wolverine movie, courtesy of Empire Magazine. Wearing the purple silk shirt and matching velvet vest is Taylor Kitsch, who plays the rogue mutant. He looks like he’s going to do magic tricks, not throw around explosive balls of kinetic energy.
Kitsch also looks a little young… What, was “Lost” cast member Josh Holloway busy? Unfortunately, rumor has it Kitsch signed a three picture deal including this movie.
Also appearing alongside Logan/Wolverine are a few other recognizable super mutants. Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber), Beak (Dominic Monaghan, also from “Lost”), Silver Fox (Lynn Collins), and The Blob (Kevin Durand).
The first official trailer will premiere on December 12 in front of The Day the Earth Stood Still. According to ComingSoon, it will only show in theaters and not officially online or on TV for a while. Meaning...
