On a brisk April afternoon in the East Village, Griffin Dunne steps through a portal to his past. He has hustled up the stairs of an East Village tenement too old for elevators despite its gentrified gleam. The hallways are narrow but clean and the doors look modern, new — until we arrive at the apartment we’re seeking. Layers of chipped paint speak of the passage of decades. The threshold is uneven — an entry to an era of slanting wooden floors, fire escape patios and bathrooms the size of closets. Inside, hats of fantastic shapes and sizes dot the blue walls, and everywhere there are books and flyers about Blondie, the Pyramid Club, Candy Darling, David Wojnarowicz, etc. Here is the habitat of a performance artist, impeccably preserved for decades and in fact still very much in use.
Because he’s trying to help his daughter, the actor Hannah Dunne,...

Associated Press journalist Linda Deutsch was already a legendary court reporter when O.J. Simpson stood trial for killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. She’d covered high-profile criminal legal proceedings involving everyone from Charles Manson and Patty Hearst to Sirhan Sirhan and the “Night Stalker,” Richard Ramirez.
But Judge Lance Ito designated Deutsch the trial’s pool reporter and she soon became a familiar face to millions as a trusted TV commentator providing context for the case. Simpson himself approved of her coverage and, after he was acquitted, she became his go-to media contact for exclusive interviews in the ensuing decades.
The Hollywood Reporter spoke to Deutsch, who retired in 2014, after the Simpson family announced the Heisman winner turned actor and pitchman died on April 10.
You’ve said you never decided if Simpson was guilty. Was that a personal decision or a professional one?

Robert M. Young, whose 70-year career included independent and studio documentaries, narrative features, and episodes of Battlestar: Galactica, died Tuesday in Los Angeles at 99. His death was confirmed in a Facebook post by his son.
Two of his films have recently been added to the Library of Congress Film Registry. They include ¡Alambrista! (1977), a film about the life of an undocumented Mexican immigrant, which won the Camera d’Or for best first film at Cannes, and The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez, (1982), one of Young’s eight films with actor Edward James Olmos. Based on a true story that inspired a corrido, it tells of a man on the run after a confrontation with police.
Both films are also part of the Criterion Collection.
Those films represented a recurring theme of Young’s career, one which showed his interest in bringing social issues to wider attention.

There’s one word that appears again and again when you search for the first reactions to “The Marvels” on X: fun. Following its premiere Tuesday night, the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been praised as a “short” and “sweet” movie from the studio despite its disappointing opening weekend projections.
Full reviews for the film are set to drop later on Wednesday. But that deadline didn’t stop several reporters and critics from posting their initial take on the movie.
Many praised the movie for its humor. Rachel Leishman, assistant editor of The Mary Sue, called the installment “genuinely hilarious and exciting to watch from start to finish.” Lyra Hale, editor at Remezcla, took her praise a step further, revealing that the movie was “most I’ve laughed in a Marvel movie since the first [“Guardians of the Galaxy].”
#Themarvels is short, sweet, and a hell of a lot of fun.

Despite having a varied directory of content, different streaming services tend to have a certain genre specialization, which is considered to be their Usp. With Netflix’s thrillers, mysteries, and true crime, HBO’s is mostly about innovative dramas that tackle a variety of themes set in different backdrops. Apple TV+ delves deep into grand-scale sci-fi, and Amazon Prime aces the grounded crime drama genre. One of the series that catapulted Amazon Prime’s popularity among fans of the said genre was Bosch, a procedural detective drama that is possibly the longest-running series on the streaming service as well.
Adapted from a series of novels written by Michael Connelly, Bosch revolved around the titular calculative, upright, hardboiled manhunter, Hieronymus ‘Harry’ Bosch, an war veteran and LAPD detective with two decades of experience on the force, as he skillfully untangled some of the riveting mysteries and conspiracies of Hollywoodland. Becky is back, and this time it’s… pretty much the same as last time. Three years ago, the world witnessed one of the craziest heel turns in recent history, funny guy Kevin James turned up in Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion’s uber violent Home Alone riff, Becky as vicious neo-Nazi, Dominick. As insane as that sounded to a lot of film fans at the time, it actually worked. James played his villain dead straight, and he was legitimately terrifying. Becky pitted James against the fourteen-year-old titular character, played to smarmy perfection by Lulu Wilson, as he and his gang of murderous white supremacists sought a very particular artifact that just happened to be located in the cabin...

Actor Ray Liotta will receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, honouring almost 50 years of amazing work in TV and on film. After his turn in the 1986 film ‘Something Wild’, playing Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s ‘Goodfellas’ was the moment that many cinephiles first discovered his charms.
Talking about the moment he knew that Liotta was the perfect choice for Hill Scorsese says it wasn’t during casting, or even on set, but when the two crossed paths ahead of the beginning of production, reports Variety.
“We were thinking about just a few actors to play Henry Hill, and Ray was one of them,” Scorsese tells Variety.
“I had one concern. I knew that he could handle a role like the one he had in ‘Something Wild,’ but here he would have to carry the whole picture. He had to look like he could have come out of that world,...

Martin Scorsese Recalls the Moment He Knew Ray Liotta Was Perfect to Play Henry Hill in ‘Goodfellas’
On Feb. 24, Ray Liotta will receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, honoring almost 50 years of amazing work in TV and on film. Following his turn in Jonathan Demme’s 1986 film “Something Wild,” playing Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas” was the moment that many moviegoers first discovered his complex, sometimes contradictory charms. When asked about the moment he knew that Liotta was the perfect choice for Hill — a character that was slick, confident, effortlessly charming, but with an edge of danger that made him fearsome and attractive at the same time — Scorsese says it wasn’t during casting, or even on set, but when the two crossed paths ahead of the beginning of production.
“We were thinking about just a few actors to play Henry Hill, and Ray was one of them,” Scorsese tells Variety. “I had one concern. I knew that he could handle...

The Western has been on life support for decades. One of the most popular and bankable genres in the silent film era, it experienced a decline in the 1930s, only to come back and dominate once again in 1939 with films such as the John Wayne-starring "Stagecoach" and James Stewart-led "Destry Rides Again." It would remain popular for several decades after that, producing more stars of the genre, including Clint Eastwood, before fizzling out once again by the 1970s. Since then we've seen Westerns pop up sporadically here and there, with some, including 1992's "Unforgiven," and 2010's "True Grit," enjoying significant success. Even in the last decade, we've seen some outstanding modern takes on the Western. But on the whole, the genre just isn't what it once was.

Organized crime cases always end up like this, with as many deaths as a Shakespearean tragedy. The closer Stabler and Bell get to the truth, the more people end up dead.
Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3 Episode 4 featured a bloody suicide and a bunch of near misses for Reyes and Kenny. Thank goodness Reyes made it out of his undercover assignment in one piece.
Bell's attitude toward undercover work was the weakest part of an otherwise solid episode. That has got to go!

Paul Schrader thinks “Blonde” has a Marilyn Monroe problem.
The “Master Gardener” director praised Andrew Dominik’s Netflix film for its “brilliance and inventiveness” but called out the constraints of staying within the biography of the late blonde bombshell, portrayed by Ana de Armas.
“There is one thing wrong about this film,” Schrader posted on Facebook. “Given the back and forth carping I held off seeing ‘Blonde’ but when I did I was thunderstruck by its brilliance and inventiveness. Dominick’s kaleidoscopic approach, juxtaposing colors, screen formats, camera styles, music, sound effects, and image manipulation create an indelible character study. But it’s not Marilyn Monroe. That’s the one thing wrong part.”
Schrader continued, “This would have been far better if freed from Mm’s history. The criticism applies to the novel as well. Why the gleeful need to jump on Monroe’s cadaver for a romp? Can’t...

Playing a figure as distinct as Marilyn Monroe is going to be fraught under the best of circumstances. An actor must carefully consider their approach. Does one, for instance, attempt a straight imitation of Monroe? Is it better to look and sound correct, even if it's to the detriment of bringing one's own unique acting impulses into the equation? Or does one stray far from strict accuracy, allowing themselves to emote on a broader canvas, inviting accusations of historical infidelity?
These questions weighed heavily on Ana de Armas who played Monroe in Andrew Dominick's upcoming Netflix film "Blonde." De Armas, star of "Knock Knock," "Knives Out," and featured in a notable fight sequence in "No Time to Die," plays a highly fictionalized version of Monroe in a stylized retelling of the star's life and death. Reviews for "Blonde" are already mixed, with some critics praising its willingness to take risks,...

The buzz for the Starz limited series “Gaslit” began in early 2020, when it was announced that the first season of Slate’s “Slow Burn” podcast was being adapted into a limited series. Since its final episode, which aired on June 12, many of Gold Derby’s Emmy Experts are speculating that the thrilling historical drama has the potential to earn multiple nominations in several above and below the line categories.
One of the most compelling narratives on the path to Emmy success is that the “Gaslit” cast is composed of A-list, award winning actors, as well as television and film standouts. The casting is so incredible that Robert Lloyd, Los Angeles Times television critic, markedly stated, ”Indeed, the series can be watched as dance, a pair of alternating actorly pas de deux, set off by ensemble pieces, and is completely enjoyable as such.”

Lulu Wilson (Modern Love) is set to return for Becky 2: The Wrath of Becky, a sequel to Quiver Distribution’s 2020 horror-thriller Becky, which will also star Seann William Scott (Welcome To Flatch).
In the original film, the spunky and rebellious teenager Becky (Wilson) tries to reconnect with her father (Joel McHale) during a weekend getaway at a lakefront house. But the trip soon takes a turn for the worse when convicts on the run, led by the merciless Dominick (Kevin James), suddenly invade the home.
