House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel series that debuted on HBO and Max in 2022 and is returning soon, focuses on House Targaryen, generations before the events of the original Game of Thrones series.
They are, of course, the ancestors of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), one of the main characters on Game of Thrones, whose series-long plot was about wanting to recapture her family's throne.
While House of the Dragon focuses on that particular family, we did get occasional glimpses of other familiar houses in the first season of that show, including the Baratheons. Also, there are fleeting mentions of Houses such as Arryn and Stark.
While the members of House Stark were among the most important characters throughout Game of Thrones, none of the Starks were major characters In the first season of House of the Dragon.
However, it appears that it is about to change.

When Game of Thrones wrapped up its run after eight seasons, it seemed it had ruined any chance of a spinoff due to the poor fan reaction to the final season.
House of the Dragon, a prequel charting the downfall of the Targaryen dynasty, premiered in 2022 and delivered plenty of fantasy drama to reignite interest in the franchise.
The Targaryen storyline is interesting because we didn’t meet many of them on the original series due to them being dead.
House of the Dragon Season 1 successfully established the conflicts between the Greens and the Blacks to prepare for the mother of all battles on House of the Dragon Season 2.
With new episodes fast approaching, it’s time to delve into everything we know about the next chapter.
Get all the details below.

Famous for writing numerous successful horror, sci-fi and drama novels, Stephen King gave the cinema industry lots of sources for adapting. While some of the adaptations of his works are considered cultish, there are a number of clearly failed attempts to bring the accomplished writer’s plots to the big screen.
These include the adaptation of King’s magnum opus, a series of eight novels, which blends science fiction, fantasy, horror and Western. It was long considered unadaptable, until the 2017 movie was released, which partially proved those lasting doubts.
The movie’s plot revolves around Roland (played by Idris Elba), a gunslinger on his mission to protect the tower which supports all the world’s realities with his young apprentice Jake (Tom Taylor). Meanwhile, his quest gets disturbed by his lifetime rival, named The Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey).

Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor) will make his long-awaited appearance in House of the Dragon Season 2 as the show ventures to Winterfell. Martin‘s Fire & Blood will know, Jace will meet Cregan and form a connection that will have a lasting impact in the years to come. In the world of Westeros, Fire & Blood isn’t an exact retelling of the events that went down in Targaryen history. With so many sources, there’s no single narrative that is entirely factual. This has provided space for speculation as to what really happened in certain situations. Many fans have wondered about the true nature between Jace and Cregan Stark, with some speculating they were more than just friends. Scroll down for a full breakdown of what we...

Making fans choose between the two women at the center of the story – Rhaenyra and Alicent – the two trailers tease the two sides of the Dragon dance – the Blacks and the Greens. With old faces returning and new faces joining the fray, fans of the series finally got the glimpse of one very important character for the very first time.

HBO’s confirmed a June 16, 2024 premiere date for House of the Dragon season two and released the first-ever “dueling” trailers. Viewers are asked to choose a side in the war between House Targaryen (#TeamBlack) and House Hightower (#TeamGreen), and then watch the trailer dedicated to their chosen allegiance.

As each side believes theirs to be the rightful seat on the Iron Throne, the Green and Black trailers reflect those two perspectives in separate yet complementary halves of the same story,” reads HBO’s press release. “For global audiences, ‘All Must Choose’ their side of House Targaryen as the realm fractures in season two.”
New episodes of the eight-episode second season will debut on Sundays at 9pm Et/Pt.

House of the Dragon season two dropped dueling trailers Thursday, prompting fans to choose between the black trailer, focusing on Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), or the green one, which puts Alicent (Olivia Cooke) at the forefront.
Rhaenyra’s trailer focuses on her, Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) and their Dragonstone forces, while the green puts King Landing’s team of Alicent, Otto (Rhys Ifans) and her children — King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) and Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) — at the forefront. This season of the Emmy-nominated show will begin the Targaryen’s civil war, also known as the Dance of the Dragons.

“House of the Dragon” is asking viewers to pick a side in Season 2: Rhaenyra’s black faction or Alicent’s green team?
HBO dropped two unique trailers Thursday for Season 2, which premieres on June 16. One trailer focuses on Rhaenrya, Prince Daemon and their forces on Dragonstone, and the other is centered on the King’s Landing team of Alicent, her father Otto and her children King Aegon and Prince Aemond. Taking place 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” Season 2 of “House of the Dragon” will officially mark the start of the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war.
In the wake of the Season 1 finale, in which Aemond murders Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys and his dragon, war is imminent in Westeros. The blacks and the greens are both gathering their forces, dragons and new allies to face off in a bloody, fiery battle to the death.

Every time a Targaryen is born, to paraphrase a memorable line from fantasy author George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire," the gods toss the coin in the air and the world holds its breath to see how it will land. This, of course, refers to the uniquely Targaryen penchant for instability that we caught a brief but violent glimpse of throughout "Game of Thrones" -- as it turns out, centuries of incestuous marriage traditions will have that effect -- but that was nothing compared to the relentless display of fire and blood in season 1 of "House of the Dragon." HBO's prequel series was set 200 years before the events of the original, back when the Targaryen dynasty had reached its zenith and spread its influence across the continent of Westeros. And despite concerns that the divisive final season of "Game of Thrones" might turn viewers off from...

I am a sucker for a good old-fashioned brawl between Wolverine and Sabretooth. They are actually few and far between when compared to other great comic book rivalries. I have said before how wider continuity doesn’t bother me too much when it comes to reading Wolverine, but it can just take you out of the moment every now and then. House of the Dragon is returning for a second season! A teaser dropped by HBO recently promises more bloodshed in a quest for vengeance. The long wait for footage from House of the Dragon season 2 has been dark and full of terrors. But that all came to an end when HBO finally released the first official House of the Dragon season 2 trailer following the show’s appearance at CCXP23 in São Paulo, Brazil. Give it a watch below.
Typically, teasers released for TV shows that do not have release dates yet (which House of the Dragon season 2 still does not … just a “Summer 2024” window) are not particularly revealing. But HBO’s wildly successful Game of Thrones prequel isn’t just any typical show without a release date. To the untrained eye, there might not be a lot of plot to latch onto in this 90 seconds. With so many shows being delayed, House of the Dragon Season 2 is still on track for a summer 2024 launch on HBO.
It's nice to know when to expect the hit Game of Thrones spinoff's return because many shows are in the air at this stage.
HBO gave viewers their first close-up of the second chapter at the Ccxp fan event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday.
As expected, plenty of blood-filled encounters, dragons, and some vengeance are thrown in for good measure.
After House of the Dragon Season 1 concluded with Lucerys being knocked out of the sky by Vhagar.
What was supposed to send a message by frightening Lucerys became something much more sinister when Vhagar took control of the situation and killed Rhaenyra's son.
The promo picks up with Rhaenyra at Storm's End, and let's just say she does not look thrilled.

Love at First Sight is a rom-com film about fate and love at first sight. Directed by Vanessa Caswill from a screenplay by Katie Lovejoy the film is based on a 2011 novel titled The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith. Love at First Sight follows the story of Hadley (Hailey Lu Richardson) and Oliver (Ben Hardy) as they meet for the first time at an airport and fall in love during a flight from America to London.
While the Netflix film adds nothing new to the rom-com genre it does provide you with enough entertainment that it is worthy of your time. Any rom-com needs its lead pairing to work perfectly and I think Richardson and Hardy have great chemistry in the film which makes Love at First Sight all the more enjoyable.

DC Comics has some of the most iconic characters “embedded” in popular culture. One of them is Batman, but his initial supporting characters became more popular as the years passed, and one of them is Dick Grayson. The first Robin and the original Boy Wonder has been a fan-favorite for decades, especially when he assumed the mantle of Nightwing, a superhero who helps his adoptive father and protects a city located in New Jersey, Blüdhaven. Despite his popularity in comics, there haven’t been that good live-action adaptation, with HBO’s ‘Titans’ being the closest to the source material.
For years, there have been rumors that a ‘Nightwing’ movie will be developed for the ‘Snyderverse,’ but the potential project’s sporadic updates have been less frequent, especially with the DC Universe reboot. The recent confirmation of industry journalists saw that the ‘Nightwing’ project might as well be canceled – for good.

London, Aug 5 (Ians) Opening batter Prithvi Shaw’s debut for Northamptonshire in the One-day Cup ended in an bizarre fashion after being out hit wicket on 34 against Gloucestershire. Shaw was trying to get Northants out of a batting collapse which saw them lose five wickets quickly.
He and Lewis McManus were in a process of resurrecting the innings, and took Northants past 50. But Gloucestershire fast-bowler Paul van Meekeren bowled a sharp bouncer which Shaw tried to hook against. But he couldn’t keep his balance and while going around, he fell down and disturbed his stumps in the process, resulting in his dismissal.
Shaw was in disbelief for some time, before making the long road back to the pavilion after making 34 off 35 balls, leaving Northants at 54-6. Though Tom Taylor scored a century, it couldn’t prevent Northants from falling to a 29-run loss in Cheltenham.

This post contains spoilers for "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse."
I don't write much about superhero films. You can probably count my superhero-related pieces on two hands, maybe even one. Despite being the cinematic cultural dominator of the 21st century, every passing year brings me further and further away from the genre. 15 years ago, with the release of "The Dark Knight" and the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with "Iron Man," I couldn't be more excited to head to the theater opening night. Now when I see a superhero film on the calendar, it's an obligation.
What makes it all the more dispiriting is that I really do like superheroes. Every Wednesday I head over to my local comic book shop and grab my pull list made up mostly of superhero comics. I eagerly anticipate the latest "Nightwing" by Tom Taylor and "Betsy Braddock: Captain Britain" by Tini Howard. In fact,...

The Reign of the Supermen is coming! Maybe. As James Gunn prepares to officially close up his tenure in the MCU with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, attention is increasingly turning toward his next directorial effort, and not just because it’s his first as co-head of DC Studios. Superman: Legacy brings a new Man of Steel to the DC Universe, and pushes Gunn into unfamiliar territory.
But before Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC’s movie efforts, WB was already in the process of developing a Superman movie, a project from J. J. Abrams, written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, that would feature a Black Superman. Most assumed that Abrams and Coates’s project was canceled when it was not included in Gunn’s announcement of the upcoming Dcu slate. But in a recent conversation with io9, Gunn confirms that Superman: Legacy does not negate Abrams and Coates’ project.

When walking out of James Gunn's 2014 film "Guardians of the Galaxy," the 10th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this author heard several other audiences members talking about the film's post-credits stinger. In the epilogue, the vaguely villainous Collector (Benicio Del Toro) sat destitute among the ruins of his collection or rare cosmic antiquities. Only a few of his beloved baubles has survived a cosmic blast, including a dog from Earth. The dog, wearing a Soviet space suit, was clearly salvaged from the 1960s Russian space program wherein canines were sent up in rockets to test their safety. The dog in "Guardians" is not Laika, but a fictional dog named Cosmo. The Collector had been keeping it in a cage on a distant planet for decades.
As Cosmo gives the Collector a sympathetic lick, a voice from off-screen (Seth Green) immediately points out how gross the dog is. A...

During my years working at the comic shop I endured quite a bit of good-natured teasing over my Nightwing crush. I've got a wall in my office completely devoted to sketches of the character. My former boss still pulls Nightwing comics for me and knows that if there's a sexy variant cover, I'm probably buying it. When Dick rescues a puppy in the current "Nightwing" run from Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo I felt like I was reading erotica created just for me -- if you've not read it, do so immediately! I know I'm not alone. Nightwing fans are legion.
One of the most interesting revelations from James Gunn and Peter Safran's reveal of their slate for DC Studios is the way they are approaching the Dark Knight. We already knew Matt Reeves was getting a sequel to "The Batman," but there's another project in the works that...

When it was announced that James Gunn, is both a surprising and exciting choice.
Alongside Peter Safran and the animated Creature Commandos. As for The Authority, the brutal superhero team could be labelled as either gods or monsters depending on their mood on any given day.
Intrigued yet? Gunn has described The Authority's screen debut as a "big movie" in his and Safran's overall plan, so let's take a closer look at the team, who they are, and why the Justice League should be worried. That's right. A (wild)storm is coming.
What is The Authority? The stormy comic book history…
Before getting into The Authority itself, let’s start with some backstory. Back in the ‘90s, when edgy anti-heroes like Spawn were all the rage, comic book legend Jim Lee founded an imprint named Wildstorm Comics, where he launched a gritty superhero team named Stormwatch. When interest in Stormwatch started to wane,...

Showcase is likely the series that comes to mind when one thinks of Silver Age DC Comics anthologies, but The Brave and the Bold may have an even greater legacy. Sure, the former introduced some of the most important Silver Age heroes, including Barry Allen as the Flash and Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. But The Brave and the Bold changed comics forever with the introduction of the Justice League of America in its 28th issue. Not only did the Jla become DC’s premier superhero team but its success prompted Atlas Comics publisher Martin Goodman to tell his editor Stan Lee to give superheroes a shot, leading to the creation of the Fantastic Four and the Marvel Universe.
So it’s no small thing that DC Comics plans to bring The Brave and the Bold back as part of its Dawn of DC storytelling initiative next year. Spinning out...
