The 31-year-old Fire Island actor and the 32-year-old Fellow Travelers actor will lead Strangers on a Beach, a queer erotic thriller set in the 1980s, according to Variety.

Strangers on a Beach was written and directed by Michael Schwartz and is set to make it’s debut at the upcoming Big Apple Film Festival in NYC in June.

Director Andrew Ahn has confirmed that the idea of a sequel to Fire Island remains active in conversations, though no formal development has taken place. The 2022 romantic comedy, set on the LGBTQ vacation destination and loosely inspired by Pride and Prejudice, drew attention for its ensemble cast and contemporary adaptation.

Director Andrew Ahn recently revealed there’s “always been conversation about doing a sequel” to his 2022 gay romantic-comedy, which is set at the titular LGBTQ getaway and is loosely inspired by Jane Austen‘s Pride & Prejudice.

“I don’t know if a real concrete idea has been formed yet, but there are things in the ether,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Ahn noted that writer and star Joel Kim Booster “always jokes that it’s going to be like the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That, where it’s 30 years later and they’re older and gayer. … We’ll see what happens.”

The series will stray from the typical weekly rollout, with the streaming platform dropping all 10 episodes on the premiere date.

As speculation continues over who will be the next James Bond, Andrew Scott, who played the villainous C in Sam Mendes’ “Spectre,” is weighing on his “All of Us Strangers” co-star Paul Mescal stepping into the shoes of 007.

It’s been quite a week for filmmaker Andrew Ahn.

On Wednesday, his Hulu film Fire Island earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Television Movie, and on Thursday night at the opening of Outfest he received the Lgbtqia+ festival’s Outfest Achievement Award, recognizing a body of work that includes Fire Island, Driveways (2019), and Spa Night (2016).

The festival called Ahn “a beloved member of the Outfest family” and “a champion of promoting diversity in the arts by mentoring youth filmmakers through programs like our OutSet program, among many others.”

“It’s cool,” Ahn told Deadline of the Outfest honor. “It feels a little early in my career. I legit tried to turn it down when [Outfest director of programming] Mike Dougherty emailed me about it, but they were very supportive and effusive that this was my time. I’m so thankful because Outfest was a big part of my coming of age as a filmmaker.

Glamorous was released on Netflix, and according to its ending, a Glamorous season 2 may be on the horizon. In 2006, “The Devil Wears Prada” helped establish the archetype of an imperious, intimidating woman who rules her chic urban office with an iron fist; with its obvious Anna Wintour analog, the book-turned-film also doubled as a bookend to the era of the print magazine editor’s omnipotence. Eight years later, Sophia Amoruso coined the term “Girlboss,” a cutesy moniker that soon got a Netflix adaptation to match. Latter-day examples have updated the template to keep pace with the times: “Younger” took place in the wake of the Great Recession, when securing a dream job requires some deceit, while “The Bold Type” was proudly progressive — think 2010s Cosmo, not mid-aughts Vogue. In these stories, actual employment is less secure, but the employer acts less like a dictator than a stern, if nurturing, mentor.

Although the show meets expectations, they are not particularly high.

While the show is an entertaining, glamorous comedy, it is more intriguing for its concept than its execution. As the series progresses, the comedy overshadows the plot, leaving it somewhat superficial. The acting is more convincing than the characters themselves, and the actors’ performances are more impactful than their dialogue. The series is too focused on being “glamorous” and not enough on delivering a compelling story.

The Gabrielle Union-starring rom-com The Perfect Find and new seasons of deceptive baking sensation Is It Cake? and The Witcher, marking the beginning of the end of Henry Cavill’s starring run, are some of the much-anticipated titles still set to come to Netflix this month.

In The Perfect Find, Union plays a fashion editor who, after a public breakup and career implosion, starts working for her former rival Darcy Hill (Gina Torres) and catches the eye of a younger videographer (Keith Powers), who happens to be the boss’ son. As a romance blossoms, Union’s character begins to question what she really wants from the next phase of her life. The film, directed by Numa Perrier, is based on Tia Williams’ award-winning novel of the same name and also stars Janet Hubert, D.B. Woodside, Aisha Hinds, La La Anthony and others.

Kim Cattrall faces plenty of drama as the head of a beloved makeup line in the first full trailer for the Netflix series Glamorous.

Cattrall stars as cosmetics mogul Madolyn Addison, who hires gender-nonconforming queer man Marco Mejia (Miss Benny) to help revitalize her Glamorous beauty brand. The series debuts June 22 and also stars Zane Phillips, Jade Payton, Michael Hsu Rosen, Ayesha Harris and Graham Parkhurst.

In the trailer released Monday, Marco is an aspiring beauty expert who is awestruck by Madolyn during their chance encounter. “Why does the supermodel of the world start a makeup empire?” asks Marco, to which Madolyn replies, “Because nobody thought I could.”

Later, the footage shows Marco struggling to feel comfortable at the high-profile company. “Marco, this job isn’t just glitter and glamour,” Cattrall’s character admonishes. “It’s hard work, too.”

After the success of “Uncut Gems,” filmmaker brothers Josh and Benny Safdie and their star Adam Sandler have a lot to live up to with their next collaboration. The trio announced in October they were reuniting for an untitled film for Netflix.

While details about the project are under wraps, Sandler did tell me Monday at the Gotham Awards that he’s going to have a much “different look” than he’s ever had. “I can’t say that I’m gonna look that handsome in it,” Sandler said. “It’s not a handsome moment…It’s gonna be tough.”

As for the storyline, Sandler would only say, “They’re working hard. Every time I talk to them they say they are working hand.”

Sandler starred in “Uncut Gems” as a Howard Ratner, a shady New York City jeweler with a gambling addiction.

With the fall festivals behind us and Oscar nominations just around the corner, award season is officially in full swing. But for many, the official kickoff to the season will always be the Gotham Awards. One of the biggest early showcases for the year’s top independent films, the Gotham Awards are set to take place tonight at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. While only films with a budget under 35 million are eligible, the event is a key battleground for smaller films hoping to separate themselves from the field in their quest for Oscar gold.
