Over the past year, TNT really cleaned house by cancelling several of their drama series. They're supposedly now favoring "edgier" series. Does Proof, a show that focuses on death and the afterlife, fit with that new strategy? How will it do in the ratings? Will it be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.

Modern horror is a little light on big names but one who should certainly be bigger is Jason Blum. He’s not exactly a household name but a man who almost single-handed seems to be responsible for virtually all the theatrically released horror content of the last few years, a man who can count the Paranormal Activity films, the Insidious (soon to be) franchise, last year’s well received Sinister and even Barry Levinson’s eco-horror The Bay among his successes. While not all of his films hit (the forthcoming Lords of Salem appears to have attained anti-buzz for instance), he still seems to be a man who takes horror seriously and seems to see it as much as a legitimate genre as...

The Barretts are struggling with some financial issues, but otherwise, live a nice life in a quaint suburban neighborhood – that is until their home becomes the focal point of inexplicable, disturbing events. Dark Skies marks the latest supernatural horror/thriller to emerge in the increasingly popular niche genre. Hitting the big screen in the Us this Friday, Scott Stewart’s latest feature has the team from Paranormal Activity, Sinister, and Insidious behind it, and it’s no secret how well those films have done in recent years.
The first trailer surfaced late last year, giving us a good look at what should be another solid entry in the genre. And yesterday saw the release of the hi-res UK quad poster. And to follow it, we’ve got the new Us poster, with an eerie young boy front and centre.

Scott Stewart (Priest, Legion) returns to the big screen next month with another supernatural film, but this time takes a step into the horror/thriller genre, to bring us Dark Skies.
The first trailer landed back in November, which gave us a good first look at the film. And given that producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) is one of the people bringing it to the big screen, it’s not hard to imagine it being another success for the genre.
With a little over a month to go before it arrives, Momentum have released the UK trailer, which is slightly different to the original, finishing with a new tagline.

Keri Russell is coming out with a new spy TV show on FX called “The Americans” that looks pretty damn good. But that’s TV — at the movies, Keri Russell is leading her family in their battle against mysterious, possibly extraterrestrial invaders. Oh, who are we kidding. It’s aliens. Everything pretty much points to aliens causing all the shenanigans. The trailer didn’t exactly try to hide that fact: See? Anyways, here are a handful of new images from the upcoming horror/sci-fi film from “Priest” and “Legion” director Scott Charles Stewart. Dude needs a hit after those two big-budget flops… As the Barret family’s peaceful suburban life is rocked by an escalating series of disturbing events, they come to learn that a terrifying and deadly force is after them. “Dark Skies” stars Russell, along with Josh Hamilton and Dakota Goyo as members of her family, and J.K. Although it was widely reported last June that Lionsgate intended to split Mockingjay, the third book in Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games trilogy, into two films, Nina Jacobson, the producer who has been credited with discovering the series, says that decision is "not set in stone" and they are "still figuring it all out."
While those early reports of turning the series of three books into four eventual movies involved splitting Mockingjay in two, similar to what was done with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Jacobson told MTV during The Hunger Games' premiere this past Monday that the decision will depend on the reception of the first film, set for release next week. "Hopefully, people love this movie enough to demand the next one," she said. "Go make that one. Figure out what to do from there."

In a world that is swamped with book-to-movie adaptations, one must wonder if the latest one will be as good as the book. When it comes to The Hunger Games, simply put, it is the most faithful adaptation one has ever seen. Lionsgate included fan sites in the World Premiere of The Hunger Games. Representatives from various sites flocked to Los Angeles to partake in the festivities surrounding their favorite series. After spending a day with campers and meeting the cast at 'The Hob,' fans were pleased to get dressed up in our premiere day best, and head back to The Nokia theatre to partake in the festivities. We made our way to Will Call to wait and pick up our tickets. As we stood there waiting, Sam Tan and Ethan Jamieson, tributes in the movie walked up. They were kind enough to stop and sign autographs for fans.

Wait a second! Isn't the U.S. supposed to be the one with the crazy uptight stick up its ass when it comes to cinema content?!? The UK is Always stealing our thunder, damn it!
According to Variety, Lionsgate U.K. has opted to shave seven seconds off Gary Ross' adaptation of The Hunger Games for Brit audiences in order to achieve a 12A classification in the territory.
The film, which has received a PG-13 rating in the U.S. from the MPAA, was originally given an uncut 15 certificate from the British Board of Film Classification, but Lionsgate was keen to "achieve a particular category" to reach a wider audience in the U.K.
Kids under the age of 12 are allowed to watch 12A films at cinemas if they are taken by an adult. According to the BBFC, "a number of cuts were made in one scene to reduce...

If you’re scratching your head over that last part of the headline: We’ve heard from various sources that The Hunger Games will in fact run for a tiring 142 minutes. Hey, if they’ve got a lot of story to tell…
Discounting this bizarre facet, the past week or so has found yours truly changing his tune on The Hunger Games, with there even being a small leap from “complete and total lack of interest” to “a smidge interest on account of good buzz.” Such minor feelings of affection are more or less sustained by Lionsgate’s new clip, in which Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) takes up a bow & arrow (in what others describe as a training process for the titular competition) and shows off some skills to the Capitol brass by way of an unlucky apple.
Although it’s ever-so-brief, I’m certainly more impressed with the tone and...

We've seen a lot of different viral campaigns over the years, but this one? These ads for The Hunger Games are so ridiculously garish that we kind of dig them. We'll let 'em speak for themselves.

A brand new trailer has been released via Yahoo! Movies for the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games directed by Gary Ross.
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Following the announcement that it would get a one-week run in IMAX, Lionsgate has a new, quick tease at The Hunger Games. The latest trailer for Gary Ross‘ adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘ bestseller goes beyond just the set-up of the first one, showing Jennifer Lawrence getting in more treacherous situations and surroundings. I’m still not sold here, but some of the location design is appealing, including a futuristic train shot by what looks to be a dam. Fans should be pleased though and can see it below via Yahoo for the film also starring Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Wes Bentley and Elizabeth Banks.
The large ensemble cast also includes Dayo Okeniyi, Amandla Stenberg, Jack Quaid, Leven Rambin, Willow Shields, Paula Malcomson, Ian Nelson, Kalia Prescott, Ethan Jamieson, Tara Macken, Chris Mark, Jacqueline Emerson, Ashton Moio, Kara Petersen, Sam Ly, Leigha Hancock, Samuel Tan, Mackenzie Lintz, Imanol Yepez-Frias, Annie Thurman,...
