An open letter condemning Jonathan Glazer’s Zone of Interest Oscars acceptance speech has been signed by more than 450 Jewish Hollywood professionals.
The group consists of actors, executives, directors, creators, producers and representatives denouncing Glazer’s controversial comments made when accepting the Academy Award for best international film on March 10.
“We refute our Jewishness being hijacked for the purpose of drawing a moral equivalence between a Nazi regime that sought to exterminate a race of people, and an Israeli nation that seeks to avert its own extermination,” the letter reads.
In his acceptance at the 2024 Oscars, Glazer read from a prepared speech to thank his partners and then make a statement addressing the current Israel-Gaza conflict.
“All our choices were made to reflect and confront us in the present, not to say, ‘Look what they did then’; rather, ‘what we do now,’” Glazer said. “Our film shows where dehumanization leads at its worst.

Amazon MGM Studios is going back for superhero seconds.
The streamer is developing a sequel to Samaritan, its 2022 action movie starring Sylvester Stallone, and has hired Bragi F. Schut to pen the script. Schut also wrote the first movie.

The movie, which premiered exclusively on Prime Video on Aug. 26, 2022, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, overperformed for the company and was the No. 1 film on the service for three consecutive weeks, according to Amazon.
Schut wrote the first script on spec.

Adonis Creed is coming back for another go around in the ring, with "Creed III" set to grace our screens next month. This one will be a bit unique though as Sylvester Stallone will not be returning as Rocky Balboa and will not be in Michael B. Jordan's corner. This time, Jordan's facing off against Jonathan Majors of "Lovecraft Country" fame (in addition to playing Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) as a forgotten memory from Adonis' past. Now, MGM has released a final trailer for the film, which sets up an emotional, hard-hitting battle between Jordan and Majors' onscreen counterparts. Let them fight, as it were.
Aside from starring in the lead role again, Jordan also stepped behind the camera to direct this entry personally, marking his feature directorial debut. If this trailer is anything to go on, he had no trouble adapting to the director's chair. Let's have a look,...

Prime Video unleashed a new Samaritan clip on Monday showing Sylvester Stallone‘s Joe cleaning up the streets of Granite City. Stallone is no stranger to action films with heart and feels at home in a city plagued by criminals, low lives, and those looking to punish the less fortunate. Thankfully, Joe’s coming out of retirement when the metropolis needs him the most. Please don’t call it a comeback. It’s a homecoming.
In the new Samaritan clip, Joe gets attacked in an alleyway by a knife-wielding individual. Annoyed at the thought of being stabbed, Joe hurls the man through a wall and into a nearby car. A little girl is standing nearby and witnesses everything. After she grills Joe with questions, another lawbreaker pulls the pin out of a grenade and tosses it at Joe’s feet. Joe picks up the girl and uses a car to shield her from the blast.

Former football star Ricky Williams is telling his story with a new biopic, titled “Ricky Williams in Australia,” produced by Modern Magic.
Williams will co-write the movie — which explores the former NFL star’s life and year of sabbatical in Australia — with Modern Magic co-founder and Academy Award-winner Rodney Rothman. Rothman will also direct the project, producing alongside Adam Rosenberg on behalf of Modern Magic.
Williams broke onto the national scene during his college football years, where he starred for the University of Texas. At Texas, he was a two-time All-American, won the 1998 Heisman Trophy and set the all-time college rushing record. He also played for 11 seasons in the NFL, spending most of his career with the Miami Dolphins, but the player’s time in the league was unconventional and his football career was cut short when Williams chose to abruptly quit the NFL in his prime.

Former MGM production president Adam Rosenberg and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” writer-director Rodney Rothman on Tuesday announced the launch of Modern Magic, a new animation studio the slate of which goes beyond the usual family-friendly fare of the genre. “Spider-Verse” showed the potential for using animation to tell different kinds of stories than have usually been told in the medium, and this new studio will likely have an emphasis on music, inclusion, and fantasy as its tentpoles.
The company has 20 features and series in various stages of development. Among them are an animated feature inspired by the music of Juice Wrld — one of Spotify’s most popular artists of last year — written by “Daily Show” correspondent Jaboukie Young-White.

Deadline has mentioned it was going to happen numerous times, but Michael B. Jordan has now committed to a step up to a new title: director. He’ll helm the third installment of Creed, per MGM, which has dated the film for Thanksgiving 2022.
Jordan’s big moment — this is his directorial debut — was spoiled by his onscreen leading lady Tessa Thompson as a toss-away in an online interview. But most knew this was in the cards for several years since Irwin Winkler, producer of the original Rocky films and the Creed spinoffs, revealed that Jordan was going to be the director of the third film.
Script is by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin, based on an outline by Ryan Coogler. Aside from Thompson, Phylicia Rashad is also back. Not mentioned is whether Sylvester Stallone will answer the bell and bring his Rocky Balboa back.

Kenya Barris will write, product and direct a biopic about legendary comedian Richard Pryor at MGM, the studio announced on Monday.
The film lands at MGM following a competitive bidding war with multiple studios involved. Jennifer Lee Pryor and her Tarnished Angel and Tory Metzger for Levantine Films will produce alongside Barris and his Khalabo Ink Society. Adam Rosenberg will serve as executive producer.
“The way Pryor did what he did — with truth and specificity that was somehow self-aware and self-deprecating, and said with an unmatched level of vulnerability – that was the power and impact of his work,” Barris said. “Pryor had a voice that was distinctly his and, in many ways, comedy since then has been derivative of what he created. To me, this is a film about that voice, the journey that shaped it, and what it took for it to come to be.”

Hollywood has long been fixated in turning Pryor’s life into a narrative film, which the comic kind of did after lighting himself on fire in a freebasing accident. He includes that in Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life is Calling back in 1986. The most serious attempt to mount a movie came in 2016, when The Weinstein Company and Pryor’s widow Jennifer teamed with director Lee Daniels on...
