Aaron Wallace was appointed "prisoner rep" or prisoner representative for Bellmore Correctional Facility. Each month, a prisoner representative ( or representatives), who are elected, meet with the warden and other senior management to discuss immediate, recurring , and on-going issues affecting the incarcerated community. This program, was one of the reforms implemented as a result of the Attica Prison Riots of 1971 (Attica, New York), which was an outcry for better living conditions and political rights, the uprising was one of the most well-known and significant milestones of the Prisoners' Rights Movement.
