Fresh off penning a treatment for Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, writer, producer and director Chris Weitz is set to adapt the screenplay for gay rights drama 21 Years to Midnight.
In the works over at Fox 2000, the picture has been teetering on the brink of development since June of last year, when the U.S. Supreme Court effectively ruled the legalization of same-sex marriage. Centering on the landmark case of Obergefell v. Hodges, 21 Years to Midnight will be brought to the big screen by way of Debbie Cenziper’s yet-to-be-published nonfiction book, with Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen (The Fault in Our Stars) producing on behalf of Fox 2000.
Anchoring the story is Jim Obergefell, who married John Arthur back in 2013 only three months before his death. Following the ceremony, Obergefell sued the state of Ohio for refusing to list him as Arthur’s spouse on the death certificate.

The life rights of Jim Obergefell have been acquired by Fox 2000, in a swift move to bring the story of his fight for marriage equality to the screen. The studio also snapped up the rights to the book Obergefell has written with journalist Debbie Cenziper, titled 21 Years To Midnight, which has yet to hit bookshops. It was the case brought by Obergefell (Obergefell v Hodges) which led to the historic ruling by the U.S Supreme Court, legalizing same-sex marriage throughout America and, by extension, finally making the matrimonial qualifier ‘same-sex’ obsolete.
James Obergefell and his partner, John Arthur, married in Maryland in June 2013, after the U.S Supreme Court declared the Defence Of Marriage Act to be unconstitutional due to its determination that the term ‘spouse’ only applied to unions between a man and a woman.

Fox now has the life rights of Jim Obergefell, the leading plaintiff in the lawsuit which, just last month, recognized the right to gay marriage for all in the Us. Obergefell had married his partner, the late John Arthur, in Maryland in 2013, only to see their home state Ohio refuse the marriage, so Obergefell sued. His lawyer, Al Gerhardstein, also sold life rights to Fox. The studio also nabbed screen rights to Obergefell and co-author/journalist Debbie Cenziper's yet-to-be-written book, under working title "21 Years to Midnight," on the proceedings. A publishing deal is expected to land this week. The film will be produced by Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, who steered entries in the "Twilight" franchise and tearjerker "The Fault in Our Stars," and will be handled by division Fox 2000, which has produced literary adaptations such as "Life of Pi," "The Devil Wears Prada" and specialty title "The Book Thief.

It's only a few weeks since love won, but Fox is already working on a film about the Supreme Court's legalisation of same-sex marriage across the Us.
The studio has acquired the rights to tell the stories of Jim Obergefell and his attorney Al Gerhardstein, who won a long-running legal battle for marriage equality last month.
According to The New York Times, Fox's movie will also be based around Obergefell and Debbie Cenziper's upcoming book 21 Years to Midnight: The Promise that Brought Marriage Equality to America.
Obergefell began his legal battle following the death of his late husband John Arthur, who he married out of his home state in 2013. Following his bereavement, the state of Ohio refused to list him as Arthur's widower.
Announcing the introduction of same-sex marriage in all Us states, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote that marriage is a "profound" constitutional right for all.

While I’m avoiding most of the more unseemly articles I’ve seen about the sad death of Cory Monteith that are everywhere, there is the question of what happens to Glee without him. The show was scheduled to start shooting a week from today, so undoubtedly most of the season was written, and Finn was a core character to the show and the dynamic of the ensemble.
The Arkansas Attorney General has rejected the language for the ballot proposal to repeal the constitutional ban on marriage equality in the state. “Specifically, rather than simply describing Amendment 83 to the Arkansas Constitution (the amendment proposed to be repealed), your proposed ballot title asserts an abridgment of undefined ‘rights’ and seems to presume Amendment 83’s illegality in terms of federal law and the laws of other states.

The raggedy English trio Male Bonding kicked up some noise with its 2010 debut, Nothing Hurts. Sculpting sludge and retro-grunge into simple, grinning pop, the disc was a well-timed scrubdown of indie-rock excess—but it failed to fill the gaps in its racket with hooks worthy of that nervous energy. The follow-up, Endless Now, is the sound of Male Bonding growing into its shoes. Sadly, those shoes are still stuck in mud. With all the dynamism of a washing machine heard through a thick wall, the album relies on the vocals of frontman John Arthur Webb to carry scant impressions ...

It’s hard not to gravitate toward "Worse To Come," the final track of Male Bonding's debut, Nothing Hurts. In the song, the band’s former tourmates and kindred spirits, Vivian Girls, harmonize angelically behind frontman John Arthur Webb. It’s a slab of shimmering, scuffed, acoustic punk that calls to mind the boy-girl verve of The Vaselines—that is, before it dissolves into a soup of shoegaze-y glory. But it’s not the only dynamic moment on the brisk, buzzing disc. Peel back the skin of distortion that sheathes the rest of the songs and there's a ...

After Desmond's not-so-shocking (but still very cool) return in last night's episode of Lost, it should come as a surprise to no one that next week's episode, titled "Happily Ever After," will center upon him. Already we've seen a pretty cool clip from the episode featuring Desmond and Claire. This clip not only proves that Desmond was in fact on Flight 815, but it also seems to throw a little reference to the fact that he may know what happens in the original timeline (my completely spoiler-free guess? He's swapping between the two universes like he did through time in "The Constant").
