Lucy Score’s Things We Never Got Over has been out for over two and a half years with the two sequel books completing the Knockemout trilogy in 2023 ahead of the announcement that Things We Never Got Over is getting the television adaptation treatment.
The first book in the trilogy is also one of the most read books on Kindle Unlimited, and Amazon hosted an event featuring a Q and A with the author Thursday at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel.
“When I started writing that book, I didn’t know what it was about,” Score told Deadline. “I was like, ‘Okay, it’s this grumpy hero and this opposites attract heroine who shows up in town. I thought that’s what the story was about, but right before I started with writing, one of my dear friends passed away very suddenly, and I struggled writing the book. I kept...

Get ready for gripping action as Disney+ Hotstar brings Marvel Studios’ Original live-action series, ‘Echo’. The series traces Maya Lopez’s escape to her Choctaw Nation roots in Oklahoma after her dramatic introduction in Marvel Studios’ 2021 hit, Hawkeye. It also explores her family and legacy, creating a gritty, self-contained tale of power and revenge as she confronts the perilous world of Wilson Fisk’s criminal empire. Directed by Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie, the series sees Alaqua Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprise their roles as Maya Lopez and Kingpin, respectively.
Alaqua Cox, who performed every single stunt in the series, earned high praise from stunt coordinator Mark Scizak.
“Alaqua was extremely dedicated in pre-production and came in every day to train and work with us on building the various fights,” he said.
“She’s so tough – I had to pump the brakes sometimes because she never held back. In designing the fights,...

Exclusive: After making all five episodes available on Tuesday, Marvel Studios’ Echo has premiered at No. 1 on both the Disney+ and Hulu platforms. The series marked several firsts for a Marvel show: the first TV-ma series developed at the studio, the first time every episode was available to subscribers at once and the first time a whole Marvel series has been available on both platforms at the same time.
It’s also the first show under the Marvel Spotlight banner, which the studio describes as a platform to bring more grounded, character-driven stories to the screen, focusing on street-level stakes over larger MCU continuity. While the studio hasn’t put out numbers, Echo is doing better than some of the consistently top-performing titles.

Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for Marvel’s “Echo” on Disney+.
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil appears in the very first episode of “Echo” on Disney+, and he’s instantly forgettable.
That’s not an indictment of the character Cox originated in “Marvel’s Daredevil” on Netflix, now resurrected for the MCU, but an endorsement of the scene around him; a one-shot combat sequence in which Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) eventually kills one of her opponents and marks Daredevil as an enemy.
The scene is striking enough on-screen, but also a key moment in how various teams intent on getting “Echo” right came together — the writing, the stunts, the direction, and an overarching sensitivity to a deaf character’s point of view.
“Echo” is the rare TV series with an Indigenous lead, the first who is also deaf, the first Marvel series to release a whole season at once,...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the finale of Marvel Studios’ Echo.
Though only five episodes, Echo is a rich story that strips away the bombastic nature of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to bring audiences to Tamaha, Oklahoma.
It’s there that the series’ main character Maya Lopez [Alaqua Cox] confronts her past traumas to heal from the tragic loss of her mother and reconnect with her Indigenous community — as well as go up against the big bad Kingpin, who helped raise her after she and her father were exiled from town when she was only a child.
She views Vincent D’Onofrio’s supervillain as an uncle, of sorts, but after realizing he is responsible for her father’s death in Hawkeye, Maya begins to understand his ruthlessness and reconsider her position in his criminal network.
While she initially returns to Tamaha only to get back at Kingpin, she...

Marvel’s Echo series marks the launch of the company’s Marvel Spotlight banner, which will be their platform for “more grounded, character-driven stories” that don’t require a knowledge of “larger MCU continuity” – although the show does serve as a follow-up to the Hawkeye series and has ties to the Netflix Daredevil show and the upcoming Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again. All of these connections are made clear in the most recent trailer for Echo, which uses stock footage from Hawkeye and Daredevil up front. You can watch it in the embed above.
The Echo character was introduced in the pages of the Daredevil comic book back in 1999, so it’s fitting that her show will have firm ties to Daredevil.

Marvel’s ‘Echo’ Starring Alaqua Cox Gets A New Release Date! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Marvel’s Echo, focusing on the life of Maya Lopez, will soon be released, but the studio has made the fans happier by bringing it a day earlier. The Marvel series “Echo” — which debuted its inaugural trailer on Friday and premieres on Jan. 10 — contains several firsts for the company. It’s the first Marvel Studios production that will debut simultaneously on Disney+ and Hulu, the first that will have every episode available to binge at once and the first that will be rated TV-ma. And most importantly to director and executive producer Sydney Freeland (“Reservation Dogs”), it is the first superhero series ever to center on a deaf and a Native American character: Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), who made her debut in the 2021 series “Hawkeye.”
“Representation was extremely important to myself and to everyone on the crew,” Freeland said at a press event for the series in October, where she was joined by executive producer Brad Winderbaum. But while the filmmakers said the show had Indigenous and deaf representation in front of and behind the camera, there were...

The official trailer for “Echo,” the Disney+ series starring Alaqua Cox as the titular hero, has been unveiled. The trailer was introduced by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige on Saturday at the D23 Expo.
The “Echo” footage, which was exclusive to those in the room at D23, included subtitles, shots of Native people and tons of Echo (Cox) kicking ass. At the very end of the first-look video, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin returns and is wearing an eyepatch.

Exclusive: Charmed is the latest scripted series whose restarted production has been disrupted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Filming on the CW drama has been paused for a day Wednesday as an individual from the production has tested positive for Covid-19, Deadline has learned. CBS Studios, which is behind Charmed, is following Covid protocols and conducting contact tracing, sources said.
The CW’s reboot of the fantasy drama, which films in Vancouver, previously shut down production last month for several days over delays in Covid-19 test results for cast and crew that impacted most series based there.
Charmed is set to premiere its third season on the CW on January 24.
The reboot of the series, which was created by Constance M. Burge and produced by Aaron Spelling that ran on the WB from 1998-2006, follows three sisters — played by Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery and Madeleine Mantock — after the tragic death of their mother.

Jimmy Tatro and Scott Porter have been cast in an upcoming episode of the first season of the CW’s “Charmed,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Tatro, who is best known for “American Vandal” and a recent stint on the second season of “The Guest Book,” will guest star as a “bad boy” angel named Gideon, while Porter will guest star as “good guy” angel Levi.
Gideon and Levi are a brother duo from a show within the show — a 1990s TV drama called “Heaven’s Vice” — on which they are tasked with saving mankind from the devil and his minions. Through a “magical mix-up,” they cross over into the real world and arrive in Hilltown via a portal, understandably confused and “quite the handful” for the sisters.
This episode is set to air in the spring, towards the end of the show’s first season.

Charmed wrapped the first half of its freshman season on Sunday with a series of game-changing reveals, putting the sisters’ big secret — as well as one character’s very existence — in jeopardy. TVLine spoke with executive producers Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin about how the events of the midseason finale will affect the Charmed Ones moving forward, but first, a quick recap:
Maggie and Mel’s dad not showing up for Christmas proved to be the least of the girls’ concerns when Hunter attacked them at home, forcing Parker to intervene and reveal himself as a half-demon, which led...

There will be plenty of CW synergy on the set of an upcoming episode of the network’s Charmed reboot. Fellow CW series Jane the Virgin‘s Jaime Camil is set to guest star on the dramedy in an upcoming episode directed by Jane star Gina Rodriguez. (Both series hail from Jennie Snyder Urman).
Camil will play Mr. Morales, the brash and eccentric new Music Director of Hillowne University’s a cappella group, The Hilltones. As an acolyte of a cappella, Morales is never seen without his hauntingly ornate pitch pipe. His commanding presence and devotion to technique make him the perfect person to ready The Hilltones for their next killer performance.
It was previously revealed that Rodriguez would direct an episode of Charmed this season. Earlier this month, Charmed along with the CW’s other two freshman series, Legacies and All American, received orders for additional episodes, with Charmed...

Phew! After the second episode of The CW’s “Charmed” reboot, we know Harry Greenwood is actually a good English chap intent on helping Macy (Madeleine Mantock), Mel (Melonie Diaz) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) navigate their journey as new witches.
But that’s about all we know about Harry for now. Well, that and that his snap-and-swirl orbing technique is definitely different from the bright lights Leo Wyatt and company traveled through in the original series, starring Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, and later Rose McGowan, which ran on the now-defunct WB network from 1998-2006.

The CW is giving a major vote of confidence to its fall 2018 freshman class, handing additional script orders to all three of its new series on the eve of their debuts. Berlanti Productions’ All American and Jennie Snyder Urman’s Charmed reboot have been picked up for five additional scripts, while Julie Plec’s the Vampire Diaries./The Originals universe follow-up Legacies is getting three additional scripts.
I can think of one other time when the CW handed backup script orders to all of its new fall series ahead of their launch – in September 2014, the network did it for The Flash and Jane the Virgin, which received pickups for three additional scripts each a couple of weeks before their debuts. Coincidentally (or not), The Flash also hailed from Berlanti Prods. And Jane the Virgin from Snyder Urman. Needless to say the move worked out well, with both shows becoming breakouts...

Nick Hargrove is set as a series regular in the CW’s Charmed dramedy reboot, from Jane the Virgin creator-showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman and CBS TV Studios.
Penned by Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin and created with Urman, the Charmed reboot centers on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.
Hargrove plays Parker. President of the Phi Delta Upsilon fraternity, Parker is the quintessential upper-class pretty boy with a wild streak and a sensitive side. His charm and confidence catch Maggie’s (Jeffery) eye when he defends her from a rude customer at her waitressing job.
Hargrove initially was cast as a recurring, then bumped up to series regular.

The culture of the world in which the CW’s reboot of “Charmed” is being written, as well as the cultural backgrounds of its three Latinx lead characters, will heavily influence the new supernatural drama.
“We have a real Latinx witch in our writers’ room,” executive producer Amy Rardin said at the Paley Fall TV Preview in Beverly Hills, Calif. Saturday. “Every culture has their own witchcraft traditions, and we really wanted to explore not just from a Salem witchcraft but all kinds of different witchcraft that happens all around the world.”
The reboot will showcase brujería, Latinx witchcraft, as the sisters explore the magical abilities they discover they have in the series premiere. For audiences familiar with the late-1990s version of the show, there will be a unique power among this new group of sisters. Jeffrey’s character, Maggie Vera, will be able to read minds.
