Terrence Howard, best known for his roles in popular flicks such as Iron Man and Hustle & Flow, recently spoke out about his alleged mistreatment and underpayment in Hollywood. However, it appears that many viewers were distracted by something else.
This time, it is not because of his acting abilities or charming smile. Well, all the focus was on his hair while he discussed his legal dispute with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA). In an in-depth interview on Straight Talk with Daphne Phaneđ, Howard, 55, talked about his lawsuit and his allegations that he was underpaid while he was a cast member of the Fox series Empire.

But his distinctive hairstyle drew more attention, with one fan even remarking that the Chicago-born actor resembles one of the original “Charlie’s Angels”. It appears that viewers can’t get enough of them.

Grace and Trai Byers may have starred alongside each other on "Empire," but there's a more important role they play in each other's lives: spouses. The couple tied the knot back in October 2016 in a beach ceremony on Grand Cayman Island and have been wooing fans ever since.
In July 2021, Grace shared her adoration for Trai in a beautiful birthday tribute. "To love when the world is intact, is one thing. to love - unconditionally, selflessly and so very deeply - when literal and proverbial worlds threaten to fall apart, that's a whole other level," she wrote. "To the man who has literally cradled and rocked me in his arms whether the tears are flowing or the smiles are aplenty; I celebrate you. I lift you up. I admire you. I see you. I hold the purest part of you in sacred love. You inspire me. You move me. You teach me.

There’s abundant magic still in The Piano Lesson, August Wilson’s grand, 1987 Pulitzer Prize winning tale of a Black family torn between legacy and ambition, the past and the future, and, it’s not an overstatement to note, between life and death.
In the new beautifully performed production opening on Broadway tonight at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, first-time Broadway director Latanya Richardson Jackson unveils a great deal of that magic – and not always in the places you’d expect. Yes, there are the flashes of the supernatural visitations and omens that the playwright mined from Blues mythology and African American folklore, but the magic Jackson conjures from her cast is one of the most impressive displays currently on Broadway.

“Death of a Salesman”
In the fifth Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s 1949 drama, Willy Loman is a traveling salesman whose illusions of picture-perfect business and family life cave in on him. He and his family are caught up in the pressures and delusions of living the American dream.
The original production directed by Elia Kazan won six Tony Awards (including Best Play) and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This staging follows a successful run on London’s West End back in 2019, where it received five Laurence Olivier...

Fox is not moving forward with the “Empire” spinoff that would have followed Taraji P. Henson’s Cookie Lyon, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
The project, which is backed by “Empire” co-creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, “follows what’s next for Cookie.” Strong was attached to co-write the script along with Stacy A. Littlejohn and Yolonda Lawrence, with Sanaa Hamri on board to direct. Executive producers include Daniels, Strong, Littlejohn, Lawrence, Hamri and Henson, along with Brian Grazer and Samie Falvey for Imagine Entertainment.
20th Television will shop the series to other outlets, the individual added.
Henson starred alongside Terrence Howard on all six seasons of Fox’s “Empire,” which aired its pandemic-forced series finale on April 21. That episode was the 18th out of a planned 20 for the drama’s sixth and final season, but production shutdowns made it impossible to complete the final two episodes in time.

‘The 24th’: Kevin Willmott’s Film About The Horrorifc 1917 Houston Riot Needs To Dig Deeper [Review]
Walker (Mo McRae) takes an immediate dislike to Boston (Trai Byers) when they first meet under Houston’s unforgiving sun: They’re digging a latrine, and Walker can’t abide Boston’s high mannered speech in conjunction with his skin tone, which is lighter than Walker’s by several shades. They tussle. Walker even pulls a razor. The altercation nearly cements their mutual disdain for one another until a late-night understanding is met between the two; Boston’s parents died in 1906 in Atlanta, which Walker recognizes as a reference to the Atlanta Massacre.

Lagging a few weeks behind the rest of the world (where Russell Crowe road-rage thriller “Unhinged” released in several territories late last month), the United States is slowly seeing cinemas reopen in anticipation of Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” — still optimistically dated for Sept. 3.
But that doesn’t mean film fans don’t have options, opening on drive-in screens, virtual cinemas and subscriptions services.
With more than 30 new movies releasing in the U.S. this week, Variety helps steer you to the most interesting of these choices. Take your pick of everything from hard-hitting dramas — including stirring Black history lessons “The 24th” and “Emperor” — to action movies such as “Cut Throat City” and “Train to Busan” sequel “Peninsula.” Family audiences will find “The One and Only Ivan” on Disney Plus, while those with more twisted sensibilities can choose to watch a “The Most Dangerous Game”-inspired humans-hunting-humans movie: Cambodian thriller “The Prey.

It’s unclear who the audience is for director Kevin Willmott’s “The 24th,” a solemn look at a crucial and under-seen moment in Black history that mostly feels like homework. This portrait of an infantry of Black soldiers who, in 1917, stood up to horrifying police brutality has plenty going for it, including a few strong performances and an evocatively Southern-tinged mood. But it’s ultimately an agitprop package, and .

Just in case it wasn’t obvious before, the recent demonstrations over the death of George Floyd have done much to lay bare just how spotty and incomplete much of America’s understanding of its own racial history has often been. While any schoolkid can rattle off facts about the March on Washington and the 13th Amendment, the complicated, messy, often horrifyingly violent timeline of racism and social justice in this country has long been oversimplified in school curricula and popular discourse, to the extent that some seismic events within that history — from Nat Turner’s rebellion to the Black Wall Street massacre — were largely unknown to large swaths of the country until very recently.
Both of those moments, however, have been dragged to the forefront by film and television over the past few years — “The Birth of a Nation” for the former, and HBO’s “Watchmen” with the latter...

"I was robbed of my honor... You get outta here before they take yours, too." Vertical Ent. has released an official trailer for the indie drama The 24th, the latest film from writer / director Kevin Willmott. The film tells the story of the all-black Twenty-Fourth United States Infantry Regiment, and the Houston Riot of 1917. The so-called "riot" was an uprising by 156 African-American soldiers in response to the brutal violence and abuse at the hands of Houston police officers. Certainly sounds very timely, and is definitely a reference to current events in America, too. The film stars Trai Byers, Bashir Salahuddin, Aja Naomi King, Mo McRae, Tosin Morohunfola, Mykelti Williamson, and Thomas Haden Church. It looks like a very powerful, very moving story to tell. But sadly it seems as if nothing much has changed in over 100 years. Take a look. Here's the ...

Exclusive: Vertical Entertainment has acquired North American rights to The 24th, a period drama based on true events from Oscar-winning BlacKkKlansman co-writer Kevin Willmott. The pic, which was slated to premiere at SXSW before the festival was shut down in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, will now get a VOD/digital release on August 21.
Willmott produced, directed and co-wrote the script with Empire alum Trai Byers, who stars alongside Bashir Salahuddin and Aja Naomi King. Jordan Fudge, Alexandra Milchan, Willmott and Byers are producers. The 24th was fully financed by Fudge’s New Slate Ventures, which produced with Emjag.
The release date is significant, timed to the anniversary of the Houston Riot of 1917, the heart of the movie’s story. Set in the early months of World War I, it recounts how 156 soldiers of the Third Battalion of the all-Black 24th Infantry Regiment rioted after clashing with the Houston Police Department.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the “Empire” series finale.)
“Empire’s” reign at Fox came to an end Tuesday with an episode that was never intended to be the show’s series finale but was instead forced upon the show due to production shutdowns amid the coronavirus pandemic.
TheWrap spoke with showrunner Brett Mahoney ahead of the hour, titled “Home Is on the Way,” about how he managed to cobble together elements of the completed 18th episode of the sixth and final season and the halfway finished Episode 19 to make an end for “Empire,” when it was supposed to close on Episode 20. And though what you saw tonight was the “spirit” of a finale, there are still questions unanswered and moments Mahoney had to leave out because they weren’t filmed — and because he and creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong maintain that they want to shoot a proper...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details of tonight’s Empire series finale. You have been warned!
“I think it’s a fulfilling finale in the sense that it has the spirit that we want,” declares Empire showrunner Brett Mahoney of tonight’s end to the hip hop drama created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong. “But no, it’s not completely fulfilling because I do feel there are elements, for instance the who blew up Cookie’s car, who shot Lucious, that we were not able to fulfill in this finale,” the executive producer also notes of a sixth and final season that ended two episodes shorter than originally scheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Empire” will air its series finale tonight, though what you’ll see in the episode is not the ending creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong and showrunner Brett Mahoney had planned to be the Lyon family’s final roar. This ending was forced upon the Fox hip-hop drama amid production shutdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic, which did not allow “Empire” to complete filming on the remaining two episodes of its sixth and final season.
And though the network and “Empire” studio 20th Century Fox Television waited to see if there was any way shooting could resume so that the Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard-led series could make its intended finale, the decision to end the show early with Episode 18 of what was meant to be a 20-episode season was finally announced in a teaser on March 31.

When “Empire” returns with the back-half of its sixth and final season next week, Hakeem has got the juice — and Andre has got a problem.
In TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek of next week’s midseason premiere, which you can view above, Empire is getting ready to drop the trailer for the upcoming Empire movie, starring Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) as his father, Lucious Lyon. Andre (Trai Byers) tells the board the label is going to make an “event” out of the trailer launch, with a concert featuring a Hakeem and Tiana duet.
But, just as Hakeem gets up on the conference room table to perform a sample of the song he’s prepared for the Empire movie soundtrack — because of course he gets on the table — Andre’s head begins to play tricks on him, and he slowly zones out. Uh, needless to say, everyone looks a little worried...

Jussie Smollett’s Jamal is not the only member of Empire‘s Lyon clan Mia from the Fox drama’s final season. Bryshere Y. Gray (aka “Yazz”), who portrays Smollett’s kid brother Hakeem, has been a scarce presence in Season 6. How scarce?
After appearing briefly in the Sept. 24 premiere, Gray has been completely absent from Episodes 2 and 3 — triggering a chorus of “Where’s Hakeem?” on social media. Hakeem’s vanishing act was particularly glaring in last week’s episode when his older brother Andre (Trai Byers) found himself in the throes of a devastating family crisis. Not only was...

Damon Cross has some explaining to do.
In a sneak peek from Tuesday’s episode of the sixth and final season of “Empire,” exclusive to TheWrap, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is in Damon’s (Wood Harris) luxurious apartment, demanding he tell her how he could betray her by telling the Feds about Lucious (Terrence Howard) — or, as she puts it, “do me so dirty.”
Although Damon first tries to distract Cookie by bringing up her recent guest spots on a daytime talkshow, saying he understands she had to use that gig “to forget about us,” Cookie isn’t having it.

There seems to be no need to wonder if the Empire TV show will be cancelled or renewed for a seventh season. While the series remains one of Fox's top-rated shows, the network announced that season six would be the final year. It's also been revealed that former co-star Jussie Smollett won't be returning following his real-life drama. Will Smollett's absence cause the ratings to drop further or could it cause the ratings to rebound in some way and cause the network to rethink ending the show? Could Empire possibly be renewed for season seven after all? Stay tuned.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the sixth and final season premiere of “Empire”)
The sixth and final season of “Empire” kicked off with a bang Tuesday — literally. In the opening scene of the Season 6 premiere, titled “What Is Love,” Lucious (Terrence Howard) was shot off-screen and left bleeding on the ground of his home, suggesting that the Lyon family patriarch might meet his end by the time the Fox hip-hop drama itself ends.
And while fans are left wondering what Lucious’ fate will be, they’re also faced with a “whodunit” mystery. But don’t worry, because “Empire” showrunner Brett Mahoney has assured us that this mystery will be solved faster than the casket case from Season 5, which lasted all the way from last season’s premiere until its finale.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “What Is Love,” the sixth season premiere of “Empire.”

“Empire” came in like a lion in the winter of January 2015 and with the premiere of its sixth and final season Tuesday, the Fox hip-hop drama has no intention of going out like a lamb.
As the series begins to come to a close, TheWrap spoke with co-creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, and showrunner Brett Mahoney about ending the Lyons’ reign, a process that started last spring, when the team found out not long after “Empire” was renewed for Season 6 that the upcoming installment would be its last.
“I was surprised, honestly,” Daniels told TheWrap via email. “I was told that it was possible this could happen but it has become realer and realer the closer we get to the end and I am sad. Sad that our show is done. ‘Empire,’ in my opinion, really changed the direction and future of TV.

Poor Andre.
When “Empire” begins its sixth and final season Tuesday, the oldest Lyon son is trying his best to defend the family business but is finding it harder than he anticipated. However, the struggle Andre (Trai Byers) is facing isn’t entirely his fault, as Lucious (Terrence Howard) admits he didn’t really groom his son for the job.
In a new sneak-peek from the Season 6 premiere, which is exclusive to TheWrap, Andre tells his father he doesn’t want to let him down and is “doing everything” he can to build Empire back — but that it’s “being attacked on all sides.”

Just as Lee Daniels said, former “Empire” star Jussie Smollett will not be returning for the hip-hop drama’s final season, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said during the Television Critics Association press tour Wednesday.
“As much as anything in cases like this… you try to gather all the information, you try to make a good decision at the time,” Collier told reporters, referring to Fox’s decision to extend Smollett’s option for Season 6 when the show was renewed in April.
He noted at that time, however, there were “no plans” for the actor to return.
A month after that news, the network announced that the upcoming sixth season would be the show’s last, but wouldn’t directly address if/how Smollett — who plays the openly-gay Jamal Lyon — would be incorporated into that final batch of episodes.

In the process, each teaches the other about the nature of love as they find a connection in the most unlikely of places. Jussie Smollett is out of Empire for good, according to co-creator, Lee Daniels.

“Empire” co-creator Lee Daniels denied a report Tuesday that Jussie Smollett is in talks to return for the final season of the Fox drama.
“This is not factual. Jussie will Not be returning to Empire,” Daniels tweeted in response to a Variety story, which first reported the news of Smollett’s potential return.
Following Variety’s initial story, multiple individuals familiar with the situation subsequently told TheWrap that Smollett was in early talks to make a return to “Empire.”
The show’s writers have already begun developing story ideas to potentially bring back Smollett’s character, Jamal, for the sixth and final season, though the situation was described by one individual as “very premature.”
Discussions about Smollett’s possible return come weeks after “Empire” was renewed for its sixth and final season at Fox.

Updated: “Jussie [Smollett] will Not be returning to ‘Empire,'” series co-creator Lee Daniels said Tuesday.
Daniels was responding to a Variety report in which multiple production sources said that “Empire’s” writing staff was breaking ideas for the show’s sixth and final season with the expectation that Smollett would appear in the back half of the 18-episode season.
This is the first public acknowledgment that Smollett will not return for the final season of the Fox drama series. He was written out of the final episodes of the show’s fifth season following severe backlash stemming from accusations the actor and musician faked a hate crime against himself earlier this year in Chicago.
The same production sources also note tensions were ratcheted up on set between the show’s primarily black cast members, who still believe Smollett is innocent, and the mostly white below-the-line crew, many of whom believe Smollett is guilty.
