Justin Hartley scored another smash hit with Tracker. Fans remember him from his other starring role as Kevin Pearson in This Is Us. However, landing another huge ratings winner is no cakewalk. Recently, Hartley gave his fans an inside look at the rigorous workload that goes into bringing Colter Shaw to life.
Justin Hartley Went From Soap Hunk To Leading Man
When Justin Hartley first got his start in soaps, he was pure eye candy, and everyone knew it. Hartley opened up in the past about how he would spend weeks filming with his shirt off, and how that became such a staple of his early scenes on soaps like Passions.
Of course, it never hurts to have a chiseled jaw and leading man good looks. For Justin Hartley, it just took him a while to fully reach his potential as a leading man, especially one capable of carrying a...

With Jensen Ackles being Tracker’s first season’s exciting guest star in the upcoming episodes, the casting news isn’t over yet. The show’s final episodes of the season seemingly claim for a significant expansion of the narrative bringing in more and more new characters that would somehow enrich Colter Shaw’s storyline.
Now that leading actor Justin Hartley has confirmed it himself, another addition is making its way to Tracker — the thing here is that she’s not new to sharing the screen with Hartley.
In one of his recent interviews the actor revealed that season 1’s finale will also feature Jennifer Morrison “coming on to play a key role”. Those who enjoyed Hartley’s drama show This Is Us back then will instantly grasp the idea of who the actor is going to reunite with quite soon.

CBS’ Tracker released earlier this year may have brought Justin Hartley to a whole new level of fame, but the actor’s face was very well-known before the show hit the channel back in February.
Several years before he landed the leading role in Tracker, Hartley starred in NBC’s family drama series This Is Us, the appearance in which may have foreseen something bigger coming in the actor’s way from CBS’ part in particular.
Though the series eventually ended back in 2022 letting Hartley jump straight to Tracker, such a transition surely felt like a drastic change in all aspects, but Hartley seemingly had no problem with it at all.
A brief disclaimer for those who didn’t get to see any of these shows so far: Hartley’s roles have solid zero matches in the characters’ looks and personalities. In This Is Us, the actor portrays Kevin Pearson,...

Actor Justin Hartley has become a huge primetime star with his iconic role in This Is Us as Kevin Pearson, not to mention his huge breakout hit this year, playing Colter Shaw on Tracker. Still, he recently had an interview where he talked about his “ridiculous” start on soap operas.
Justin Hartley’s – Early Daytime Drama Days
Before diving into the world of primetime, Hartley started in the land of daytime drama. From 2002-2006, he was in the soap opera (now canceled) called Passions where he played Nicholas Foxworth “Fox” Crane.
Not overly shocking, but the show took advantage of Justin’s chiseled features and ripped physique, showcasing him in plentiful scenes where Hartley walked around without a shirt on.
Justin reflected on his time with the soap, noting that the show had him shirtless around a hospital for three weeks. He adds that it was “ridiculous”, but he loved it.

Justin Hartley took a big risk career-wise when he took his now iconic role as Kevin Pearson in This Is Us. At the time, he was primarily a pretty face in soaps, and he took a big risk that completely paid off. Recently, the Tracker star reflected on his early soap days, and some of the “ridiculous” things he did when he got his start. So, what did he have to say?
Justin Hartley Got His Start As The Pretty Face In Soaps
It’s no secret that soaps have a tried and true formula of casting pretty people to star in them. Often, former models looking to break into acting find themselves on various soap operas. This is one industry where having a pretty face and toned abs can certainly work in your favor.
This was exactly the case for Justin Hartley when he broke into the industry and first got his start.

Was Justin Hartley nervous about the launch of his new drama series, Tracker, which had the honor of premiering in this year’s coveted post–Super Bowl timeslot? According to the actor formerly known as Kevin Pearson on NBC‘s This Is Us, not until the intense 49ers–Chiefs game went into overtime. “I was like, ‘Oh, so we’re asking people to tune in [to our show] at 11:15 pm?’” he says. Thanks to what Hartley calls “the power of the Super Bowl, the power of Taylor Swift, the power of the NFL and a really great game,” those worries were short-lived, as 18.4 million live viewers stayed up for Tracker’s premiere. Beyond that solid debut, episodes in the drama’s regular timeslot averaged a strong 7.2 million live viewers. “All of that is a testament to how good of a show we’re putting out, and it’s just ...

A missing kid. A rugged hero with a dark past. A mystery solved, and a bad guy nabbed in under an hour. The first episode of Tracker was fun, but it felt a little formulaic. We've seen this type of show before, right?

For actor Justin Hartley, Super Bowl Sunday brought an extra level of excitement beyond being the biggest night in professional sports. Hartley, spending the weekend in Las Vegas leading up to the big game, was debating whether his favorite football team, The Chicago Bears, should keep their current quarterback, Justin Fields, or use their No. 1 draft pick in April to select Caleb Williams (who many sports analysts are calling a generational player in that position).
But the biggest reason for anticipation around Sunday’s match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs was that the game served as the lead-in for the This Is Us star’s next series, Tracker, which aired immediately after the game on CBS.

The Pearsons may be gone, but they’re certainly not forgotten. A whopping 19 “This Is Us” cast members have been submitted by NBC on the 2022 Emmys ballot, including all of the core adult family members. That number includes three lead performers: Sterling K. Brown as Randall Pearson, Milo Ventimiglia as Jack Pearson and Mandy Moore as Rebecca Pearson. In years past, Justin Hartley as Kevin Pearson has also dabbled in lead, but for this final season he’s competing in supporting. One fan-fave guest star was not submitted on the Emmy ballot and thus cannot be nominated: 2017 winner Gerald McRaney, who returned in the penultimate episode as the ghost of lemonade-loving Dr. K.

Name a show on TV right now that has a more Emmy-nominated cast than NBC’s “This Is Us.” I’ll wait.
Over the last three seasons, the family drama has garnered a staggering 18 Emmy nominations for its actors, including three wins, for Sterling K. Brown (Best Drama Actor) and Gerald McRaney (Best Drama Guest Actor) in 2017 and Ron Cephas Jones (Best Drama Guest Actor) in 2018.
Last year an impressive seven out of nine nominations for the show were for its sprawling cast. While tonight’s episode of This Is Us, “The Dinner and the Date” was about Déjà and Malik, This Is Us creator Dan Folgeman promises that the Kevin Pearson will be a fixture in the midseason finale.
This season we’ve seen Kevin fall off the wagon again after spending time with Uncle Nicky who is also an alcoholic. Kevin Pearson has had a multitude of highs and lows throughout his life, and it has all gotten chronicled throughout the last four seasons of This Is Us.
While his highs have included being the star of a hit sitcom and a talented high school quarterback, which not a lot of people can relate to, Kevin's lows have consisted of struggles most humans have also dealt with.
Kevin lost his father unexpectedly when he was a teenager, he has been divorced, and he suffers from addiction.
He might be the heartthrob of This Is Us, but what most people do not realize is that Kevin is also one of the more complex, relatable characters on the show.
Most of the time, the Kevin we see on This Is Us is a confident, charming guy that anyone can love. However, that is usually a mask he puts on because of his fear of being alone.

This morning at “Pancakes with the Pearsons”—a brunch at 1 Hotel West Hollywood, in celebration of This Is Us‘s 9 Emmy nominations—series creator Dan Fogelman joined his cast for a series of 10-minute “actor-on-actor” Q&As, providing some new details about what we can expect in Season 4 of the hit NBC drama. “I would say that there’s a lot of secret new cast members who are going to be a big deal, coming up, so that’s one part. I would say there’s going to be a big announcement or release about it at the end of this month,” Fogelman shared. “I would say that in the series, we have what I call little markers, little stakes we put in the ground that serve as grounding points for the whole arc of the whole series, and I would say our first two episodes of this season are two of those.

NBC and 20th Century Fox Television pulled no emotional punches during a special Emmy Fyc event for “This Is Us” recently held at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre. A musical performance and subsequent panel featuring actors Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Susan Kelechi Watson, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Chris Sullivan, and Chrissy Metz was very much in keeping with the heart-on-its-sleeve spirit of the show. One wonders why the prepared meals didn’t come with a handkerchief.
The evening began with a mini concert highlighting the music of the show’s composer Siddhartha Khosla, who fronted a small ensemble of musicians in performing the show’s theme song as well as musical selections from the third season. It was capped by a moving performance of the original song “Invisible Ink,” featuring lead vocals from Mandy Moore, accompanied by Khosla and co-writer Taylor Goldsmith, who also happens to be Moore’s husband.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from the “This Is Us” Season 3 finale.
“This Is Us” wrapped up its third season with a flash-forward into the future, which introduced much new information about the Pearson family — and also brought about many new questions.
Justin Hartley, who plays Kevin Pearson, was in the midst of key storylines in the finale, including the revelation that he becomes a father.
“I think it’s wonderful. He’s probably an amazing father,” Hartley said, speaking to Variety‘s senior correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister during a conversation at the 92nd Street Y in New York City this week.
“I know a thing or two about it because I have a 14-year-old daughter,” Hartley continued, referencing his real life off-screen. “I love being a father, so the idea of Kevin being a father, it’s something that we just haven’t seen.” With a laugh, he added,...

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about the Season 3 finale of NBC’s This Is Us.
Another Kevin Pearson breakup leads to the departure of another actress as a series regular: Melanie Liburd, who plays Beth’s cousin Zoe, was introduced in the Season 2 finale and was promoted to a series regular ahead of Season 3. She will no longer be a series regular on the show after Zoe (Liburd) and Kevin (Justin Hartley) broke up in the Season 3 finale over their different stances about having children.
There was a similar trajectory for Alexandra Breckenridge, who plays Kevin’s school sweetheart Sophie on This Is Us. The second half of This Is Us Season 3 is almost upon us and while This Is Us Fanatics await for the Pearsons to return, let's look back at some of the best, funniest and most tearjerking moments of the first half of the season.
This Is Us has managed to have one of its strongest seasons to date and has taken the show to uncharted territories. The Vietnam war has played a major role on the first half of the season but that hasn't taken away from the theme of love and family that This Is Us is known for.
The Pearson clan continues to take us on an emotional ride and has set up so many intriguing plotlines, including the mysterious "her" that has had This Is Us Fanatics talking since Season 3 first premiered.

Big Three move aside because the Small Three are in town.
That's right, after years of being pushed aside in favor of the Pearson clan, Toby, Beth, and Miguel finally got the spotlight they deserve.
It was more than expected that Toby would be a focal point on This Is Us Season 3 Episode 5 considering the title of the episode is his name, but what was a welcome surprise was that his fellow Small Three compatriots also got to bask in the spotlight alongside him.
The Pearsons are a fragile bunch, and its been pretty much expected of their significant others to be the shoulder for them to cry on. While all of them have been great at this role so far, it's high time for the Pearsons to take care of them.
While it doesn't look like Randall is going to be able to do that job, at least right now,...

Bless the heavens, Jack and Beth are back and better than ever!
And that's only a small reason why This Is Us Season 3 Episode 3 is one of my favorite This Is Us episodes of all time, and trust me -- it has a lot of competition.
Why did I love it so much?
It managed to be so simple, yet so beautiful, reminding me why I watch this show in the first place. There is no family more complicated, but also more full of love then the Pearsons.
That sentiment rang true in the first few minutes of "Katie Girls" at Kevin's film premiere. Finally, after years of being brushed to the side and told to wait, Kevin Pearson finally got the applause from his family he so rightfully deserved.
Take it in, Kevin, you deserve it.

Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) from “Game of Thrones” and Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) from “This is Us” don’t seem to have that much in common. One is a knight fighting for control of a fictional kingdom. The other is a former sitcom stud fighting for respect as a serious actor. And they have, shall we say, very different relationships with their sisters. But they’re both golden-boy sons with two siblings whose portrayers have been nominated for Emmys. That makes them both the black sheep of their TV acting families since they’re still waiting for their first bids. They’re both eligible for Best Drama Supporting Actor this year, so will the prodigal sons make the cut at last?
Coster-Waldau has been eligible for Emmys since “Game of Thrones” premiered in 2011, but the TV academy has yet to take notice. Ironically, it has been the black sheep of...

Will Justin Hartley earn an Emmy nomination for his heartbreaking work on “This is Us”? He plays Kevin Pearson, who in season one wanted to be respected as a serious actor and not just the star of his shallow sitcom “The Manny.” But during the show’s second season his storyline dealt with his descent into alcohol and drug addiction and should finally earn him some individual awards recognition after the entire rest of his on-screen family have been singled out for their performances.
Hartley’s best showcase of the season was the November 14 episode “Number One.” After being injured on the set of his upcoming movie Kevin wallows in self-pity. This is intercut with flashbacks detailing how his football career ended when he was injured as a teenager. Back in the present he returns to his high school to receive an award, trying and failing to pretend that everything is okay,...

When Justin Hartley arrived at the SAG Awards this year, we had one major question on our minds: where on earth was his new wife, Chrishell? Though we were a little bummed to miss out on another swoon-worthy red carpet appearance from the newlyweds, that sadness immediately disappeared when we learned why Chrishell wasn't there. She chose to let a younger This Is Us star have Justin's plus-one ticket in her place so they could be present for the evening's festivities (which ended up resulting in a big win for the cast!). Does it get any sweeter than that? Justin walked the red carpet with the youngest actor of his character, 10-year-old Parker Bates, and the two could not have possibly looked any more dapper. Later on, after the This Is Us cast snagged the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series, Justin also met up with 18-year-old actor Logan Shroyer,...
