In the divisive third episode of The Acolyte, we learned more about the childhoods of Force-sensitive twin girls Mae and Osha. The former has since fallen to the Dark Side and serves "The Master," while the latter trained as a Jedi before leaving the Order.
While "Destiny" filled in a lot of gaps (and raised some intriguing questions), the biggest talking point was the introduction of a coven of witches on Brendok. Gifted with the ability to use the Force, we learned that Mother Aniseya had given birth to Mae and Osha after her partner, Mother Koril, created the girls...likely in the same way Anakin Skywalker was conceived without a father.
Much was said about the "Power of Two" in The Acolyte, with the prevailing theory being that the twins are a Force Dyad similar to Rey and Kylo Ren.

Actor Karl Urban is one of the few names lucky enough to be associated with two of the most popular sci-fi franchises of all time. Urban is primarily known for his role as Billy Butcher in the Amazon Prime series The Boys. However, Urban played Leonard McCoy in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek movies before the show’s success.

During an interview, Urban revealed that Abrams had also managed to sneak in a cameo of him as a stormtrooper in the galaxy far, far away. Abrams who directed two installments in the Star Wars sequel trilogy featured Urban as a Stormtrooper in the final installment of the Skywalker saga and the actor could not be more stoked about it.

This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Acolyte through episode 3.
We’re heading somewhere new in the galaxy far, far away as Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte takes fans to the High Republic era. Taking place 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace, this is arguably the most accessible Disney+ series for those who are new to the world of Star Wars. Still, it looks like The Acolyte could be hiding a major connection to the sequel trilogy, and in particular, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker.
The focus of The Acolyte are twins Mae and Osha Aniseya, played in a dual role by Amandla Stenberg. Lost twins are a recurring theme in Star Wars, with the original trilogy’s Luke and Leia being the most notable example. However, unlike Luke and Leia, The Acolyte suggests Mae and Osha share an even stronger bond in...

There will be spoilers for the third episode of "Star Wars: The Acolyte," so beware.
The road to hell is always paved with the best of intentions, and that's the moral of a lot of fairy tales. It's something George Lucas hammered home pretty directly when he wrote the prequel trilogy, as we watched Anakin Skywalker's slow descent into evil. The overriding desire to do the right thing -- even in the face of great evil -- is ultimately what drove Anakin Skywalker to the Dark side and the downfall of the Jedi order. He wanted the power to influence the midi-chlorians to cheat death and protect those he cared about. Under the manipulative influence of the Sith lord Darth Sidious, Anakin succumbed to his worst impulses for what he thought were the best of reasons.

A long time ago, in 1977, the universe of a galaxy far, far away first appeared on movie screens. That was the beginning of Star Wars' triumphal march into our world. Almost everyone knows that almost immediately after its creation, Star Wars went beyond the movie screens and gave birth to a huge expanded universe.
But as the universe grew, so did the mystery — and that, in turn, forced fans to create their own theories.
1. Starkiller Base is the Planet Ilum
The planet Ilum appeared in both the 2003 Clone Wars and the 2008 animated series of the same name. During this time, the planet has managed to acquire a rich mythology. Most commonly, Ilum is associated with the trials of young Jedi, where they received their first lightsabers.

How The Acolyte Could Tie Into The Rise Of Skywalker - A Bond in the Force - Main Image
Star Wars The Acolyte unravels a compelling tale set in the High Republic era, a time of the Jedi's ascendancy. The plot centres on the enigmatic twins Osha and Mae and a series of Jedi murders shrouded in the mystery of a sinister Sith plot.
The show, despite being set earlier in the canon timeline than seen before, already references other Star Wars media, like how Jedi were different during this time and the events of the mainline movies.
One possible connection to the 2019 movie Rise Of The Skywalker emphasises how the Force works between two Force-sensitive beings.
What is a Force Dyad?
In Star Wars Episode IX, it was revealed that Kylo Ren and Rey were Force dyads - two Force-sensitive beings connected by an unbreakable bond in the Force.

It is impossible to forget when Kylo Ren killed Han Solo. While the Star Wars saga is extremely successful and has expanded through numerous sequels, prequels, series, and spin-offs, certain elements amidst the vastness feel unnecessary and nonsensical. Despite being a billion-dollar franchise, fans struggle to wrap their heads around certain plot points, such as Kylo Ren’s actions toward Han Solo and, notably, his killing of Lor San Tekka.

The Disney era of Star Wars undoubtedly has brought more twists and turns than fans are fond of. Although they tried to expand the universe, along the way, they misplaced a few pieces of the puzzle, leaving fans scratching their heads over what’s what in a galaxy far, far away.

The Star Wars universe is rich with complex and compelling characters, especially its villains. These antagonists drive the narrative forward, offering challenges and intrigue that captivate fans across generations. With the debut of “murder-mystery” show The Acolyte this week on Disney+ we thought we’d take a look at the ten best villains in the Star Wars saga:
1. Darth Vader
Darth Vader, originally Anakin Skywalker, is perhaps the most iconic villain in cinematic history. His fall from a heroic Jedi Knight to a Sith Lord embodies the tragic nature of the Star Wars saga. Vader’s imposing presence, deep voice, and complex redemption arc make him a standout character.
2. Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious)
Emperor Palpatine is the mastermind behind the fall of the Jedi Order and the rise of the Galactic Empire. His cunning manipulation of both the political and Sith arenas showcases his unparalleled strategic mind. His return in...

Star Wars: The Force Awakens flew into theaters almost a decade ago, capturing the imagination of the franchise’s existing fanbase while also welcoming newer fans to the epic space opera saga. The film was a major commercial success, but the following installments received polarizing reactions from critics and fans alike, tainting the legacy of the sequel trilogy.
The Force Awakens (2015) marked a new era for the Star Wars franchise (Credit: Lucasfilm).
However, all of that could have been potentially fixed with the first installment of the sequels retaining its tentative title. According to reports, The Force Awakens originally had an entirely different title during the early stages of the production. Here is what the Daisy Ridley-led film was initially going to be titled and why the franchise would have been better off sticking with it.

One of the most memorable traits of the roguish Han Solo is just how lucky he is. Depending on which version of "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope" you watched, this guy somehow managed to avoid getting shot by a bounty hunter despite being mere feet away from the guy either before or after they yelled "Maclunkey!" at him. He also spent years fleeing from the evil space gangster Jabba the Hutt -- and when Jabba did finally catch him, Han had already made friends with a powerful young Jedi who could rescue him not long after.
Even on a meta level, Han's a lucky guy. Harrison Ford thought Han should've died in "Return of the Jedi" to lend some "gravitas and emotional weight" to the third film, and I don't think he was wrong: "Return of the Jedi" was a little too cutesy of a follow-up to...

With just a few days to go until Star Wars: The Acolyte premiere on Disney+, the latest TV spot for the show offers a terrifying new glimpse at its mysterious Sith villain. The more we see of that helmet, the closer it looks to what Kylo Ren donned in the sequel trilogy.
Darth Vader's grandson being inspired by a powerful Sith from the past wouldn't be a huge surprise and this mysterious character clearly plays a pivotal role in bringing the Sith back to prominence.
Given The Acolyte's place in the Star Wars timeline, it still seems likely that Darth Plagueis or Darth Tenebrous is beneath the mask. However, Lucasfilm may be planning to make some significant changes to much of the lore established in Expanded Universe stories.
Thanks to Bespin Bulletin, we also have intel on the runtimes for The Acolyte's first four episodes:

The franchise has become a global pop-culture phenomenon and fans continue to revisit the original trilogy, which is held in the highest regard. However, according to Hamill, Fisher was apparently unhappy with one of the scenes in the very first film.

"Star Wars" trilogies are a flat circle, and George Lucas was right when he said "it's like poetry, it rhymes." Much like the prequel trilogy, the sequel trilogy created incredible excitement and anticipation, with "The Force Awakens" trailer breaking viewership records and fans everywhere obsessing over every detail, every character, every quote. And much like the prequel trilogy, things went downhill quick, with the movies disappointing a lot of people, and fandom going nuts and bullying the cast and crew incessantly until they drove some of them off public appearances and the internet, and until they all but swear off the franchise they were once huge fans of.
Still, for a little while, the excitement was palpable and infectious, not just among fans but even press. For example: people only asked Andy Serkis, who played the "Star Wars" villain Snoke, about "The Force Awakens" when all he wanted was to talk about apes.

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ holds immense significance for various reasons, primarily as it marks the first live-action series (second overall) set in the High Republic era. This period in Star Wars lore is characterized by the significant influence of the Jedi, representing their golden age.
The show has already sparked considerable debate within the community, with fans highlighting numerous inconsistencies regarding the presence of the Sith. The latest controversy, however, revolves around a particular weapon.
A recent trailer for the show hinted at the introduction of the “Lightwhip,” a distinctive and significant weapon historically associated with Vernestra Rwoh, a character from the books set to play a pivotal role in ‘The Acolyte.’
Lightwhips are remarkable weapons resembling traditional whips but constructed from lightsaber energy. They were sporadically wielded by Jedi during the Sith Wars, proving particularly effective against certain Sith techniques. However, by the High Republic Era, they had become rare among Jedi,...

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is a significant show for plenty of reasons, the most being tied to the fact that it’s the first live-action show (second overall) to take place during the High Republic. An era in Star Wars lore that was marked by the massive influence of Jedi, as the order was during its golden age during this time period.
The show already caused quite a stir in the community, with fans pointing out many inconsistencies related to the Sith’s presence, and the latest controversy is actually tied to a weapon.
One of the recent trailers for the show teased the addition of the so-called “Lightwhip,” it is one unique and very special weapon historically carried by Vernestra Rwoh, a book-accurate character set to play a major role in ‘The Acolyte.’

Star Wars Fans Defend Existence of The Acolyte’s “New” Lightsaber Variant - Main Image
The lightsaber is arguably the most iconic weapon in all of Star Wars and since the franchise's inception in the 1970s, most fans have only acknowledged the single-bladed saber which has been a fixture in every live-action project.
Over the years though, the lightsaber, much like Star Wars itself has evolved and we've been introduced to several variations of the weapon. However, The Acolyte's "new" version of the saber is causing a major divide among diehards.

Actor Ray Park debuted as the menacing Sith apprentice Darth Maul in the first installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. However, Maul meets his untimely demise at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi at the end of The Phantom Menace. Given Maul’s interesting look and brief screen time, fans have clamored to see more of the character in the films.
Ray Park originated the role of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace.
During an interview, Park admitted to being eager for a return to the galaxy far, far away. The primary reason for Park’s reinvigorated interest in reprising the role of Darth Maul was due to the new lightsaber design of Kylo Ren, which debuted in The Force Awakens. In the Star Wars universe, the lightsaber is an iconic part of the series as the weapon is not merely a tool used in the battle between a Sith and a Jedi. The glowing blade with striking colors like green, blue, purple, and red, captures the attention of the audience and the distinctive sound adds to its popularity.

However, it looks like The Acolyte is going to make a change as they introduce a Lightsaber Whip, which has divided its fanbase. Heated debates have been taking place all over the internet on how adding it would ruin the franchise’s popularity. Though new additions to the franchise have always been accepted by its fans, even they think that the addition of this bizarre weapon is a bit too ridiculous.

In a galaxy far, far away, the Skywalker name has always been synonymous with heroes, legends, and the ultimate battle between light and dark. With Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley) taking on the iconic family name at the end of J. J. Abrams’ 2019 flick, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the legacy of the Skywalker lineage lives on in a new and powerful way.
Rey’s decision to become a Skywalker was not just a passing moment or a mere token of gratitude; it was a deeply personal and meaningful choice that honored the Jedi who had shaped her into the powerful Force-wielder she had become.

A newly released collectible revealed the thoughts of Rey, where she cited her master, Luke Skywalker, his sister, Leia Organa, and her beloved friend-turned-enemy-turned-savior, Ben Solo, as the driving forces behind her choice.

When “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace” debuted on May 19, 1999, few movies before (or since) were greeted with more fevered anticipation. Not only was the movie the first new “Star Wars” movie in a generation, but it was touted as the first of a prequel trilogy charting the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Knight fated to turn to the dark side as Darth Vader.
Despite the breathless build up, by the end of that summer, the near-universal consensus was that “The Phantom Menace” was, at best, a colossal disappointment and, at worst, a calamitous embarrassment. Some blamed the decision by George Lucas — directing for the first time since 1977’s “A New Hope” — to start the story with a precocious 9-year-old Anakin (Jake Lloyd). Others railed against the slapstick antics and pidgin English of Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best), hyped as the first-ever CG main character in a live-action movie.

5 Sexiest Characters in Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - Main Image
Just when we thought that Star Wars trilogies were over after the release of Episode VII – Revenge of the Sith in 2005, Lucasfilm once again brought the story of the galaxy far, far away to life with the sequel trilogy. But aside from its intricate storylines and fascinating lore, another thing that caught the viewers' eyes was its characters’ incredible charm and allure.
The Star Wars sequel trilogy, which included Episode VII—The Force Awakens, Episode VIII—The Last Jedi, and Episode IX—The Rise of Skywalker, featured some of the best actors of their time.
It saw the return of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and the late Carrie Fisher as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa.

May 4, 2024, marks Star Wars Day when fans come together to celebrate the iconic space opera franchise. However, not all aspects of the franchise are equally adored by fans. Such an occasion calls for an examination of certain creative choices that ended up being for the worse, such as the redemption of Kylo Ren in the sequels.
Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren underwent a divisive redemption arc in the Star Wars franchise
Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren was built up as an antagonistic force for the Disney-produced sequel trilogy, which polarized the fanbase. Part of the reason for the divisive reaction was an ineffective storyline across the three films, which included plot points such as Kylo Ren’s redemption. Here is how Kylo Ren’s character arc changed according to Adam Driver and how it screwed up the sequels.

May the 4th be with you!
To mark this year's Star Wars Day celebrations, Lucasfilm has released a brand-new trailer and poster for its next live-action Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte.
In addition to some exciting lightsaber action, the teaser reveals more story details, as Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) vows to bring his wayward former apprentice Mae (Amandla Stenberg) to justice.
Mae doesn't appear to be the only one taking down Jedi, however, as we also get a first proper look at the mysterious Sith villain who is behind the murders. His (her?) face is obscured (with a mask not too dissimilar to the ones Kylo Ren and his Knights wore in the sequel trilogy), which may indicate that this formidable warrior will ultimately be unveiled as an already established character.

Another year, another May 4th, has come to our galaxy. The unofficial holiday is known as Star Wars Day began in 2011 and quickly caught on as the date, May the fourth, sounded very similar to the phrase “May the Force Be With You.” Since then, fans worldwide have gathered to celebrate their favorite characters and moments from that franchise, and Disney often takes advantage of that.
A 2024 May Fourth video was posted on the official Star Wars YouTube Channel. While the video shows what you would typically expect with clips from the films and shows, interviews with the actors, and fans cosplaying, there is a noticeable absence.
The video, meant to celebrate the franchise as a whole, seemingly ignores the controversial Sequel Trilogy. In the beginning, we see Kylo Ren taking off his helmet for half a second, but there is little to no trace or acknowledgment of those three films.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens reintroduced viewers to the galaxy far far away long after the time of Luke Skywalker and the rebel alliance’s fight against the Empire. The first installment in the sequel trilogy focuses on Daisy Ridley’s Rey, as she finds her calling through the lightsaber that once belonged to the Skywalker family.

While Rey comes in contact with the lightsaber through Maz Kanata, how the latter got hold of it in the first place was never explained. Furthermore, a deleted scene that featured in the trailer but not in the final cut would have only added to the confusion behind it. Director J.J. Abrams addressed the deleted scene and explained why it would have created a narrative issue.

Star Wars has always had some of the most iconic characters of all time. From Darth Vader to Kylo Ren and General Palpatine, there has been a wide range of characters who perfectly contrast the heroes standing before them. Whether it is in front of Luke Skywalker or anyone else, their twisted mirror images become more and more interesting to watch as the franchise progresses.

Adam Driver is an actor who has appeared in numerous roles in many movies, which include Lincoln (2012), Frances Ha (2012), Inside Llewyn Davis (2013), BlacKkKlansman (2018), Marriage Story (2019), The Last Duel (2021), House of Gucci (2021), and Ferrari (2023), but one role stands out among mainstream fans, which is what of Kylo Ren, or Ben Solo, from the Star Wars franchise. And while the sequel trilogy was more clumsy than perfect, even ridiculous at times, Driver’s performance has been praised and Kylo Ren is still considered as one of the trilogy’s most important characters.
And while Kylo Ren died in the films, we have seen that Star Wars characters can – more or less miraculously – reappear in the series, as was the case with Darth Maul and Palpatine, so why not Kylo Ren? The actor was recently asked about the possibility of returning to the role of Kylo Ren, and we will reveal what he said.

Disney's theme parks launched new experiences for their original "Star Wars" ride this week. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is the second iteration of the attraction that originally opened at Disneyland Park in 1987. The first version of the ride was a consistent experience that put audiences inside a motion-simulated ship piloted by a droid voiced by Paul Reubens. The ride took park-goers right into the middle of a Death Star attack and was unlike anything anyone had ever seen. An ever-popular attraction, it was updated in May of 2011 to its current iteration. Instead of a single movie ride, new technology allowed Lucasfilm and Disney Imagineers to randomize the process. Now, with the updated system, your voyages could be randomized and it was easy for new updates to be made.

Star Wars is one of the biggest franchises of all time, and it helped launch the career of one of its protagonists, Harrison Ford. Given the massive success of the film and its sequels in the years that followed, it established the Han Solo actor as a leading actor in Hollywood.
The space opera managed to catch the fancy of millions around the world, and its popularity has not waned at all. It proved to be a turning point in Ford’s life, as he was a struggling actor at the time. And now, nearly five decades later, a draft of A New Hope that the actor left in his rented apartment, was just off for an eye-watering amount.

Say what you will of "Star Wars," but you can't deny the franchise is great with thematically-consistent visual choices. When a Force user is meant to be bad, they've got a red lightsaber and they're dressed up in scary dark clothing. When the character's meant to be good, they've got a blue/green lightsaber and they're wearing friendly light clothing (with exceptions like Luke Skywalker at the start of "Return of the Jedi"). It's perhaps a little too simple, but it was a great idea on creator George Lucas's part to come up with a type of futuristic sword that straight-up tells you what sort of person its owner is. Talk about taking visual shorthand to the next level.
Outside of clothing and choice of weapon, "Star Wars" is also quick to use appearances to indicate morality. The morally righteous Leia is conventionally attractive, whereas the evil Palpatine has yellow eyes and wrinkly skin.

There is no denying that theaters are losing their charm thanks to streaming platforms like Netflix. People now would much rather prefer paying a monthly fee and enjoying more content than ever before in the comfort of their own homes. Now, it takes films like Barbie and Oppenheimer to drive people to theater halls and experience cinema first-hand.

Judd Apatow was not happy with Warner Bros. Discovery’s decision last year to license a handful of HBO original series to Netflix. Many shows including Insecure, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Six Feet Under, and Ballers were licensed to the streaming platform. Apatow described this move as scary because Netflix could buy around older shows and stream them to their audience, rather than investing millions on new shows. However, X-Men writer Zack Stentz couldn’t agree with Apatow’s views.

Daisy Ridley is set to reprise her role of Rey for a new Star Wars movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and the actress shared a few insights about the project while speaking with Deadline.
While Ridley said that she’s still waiting to read a script, she did say that she knows “bit and bobs,” including that there will be “an introduction of new characters.” When asked if any previous characters would be reprising their roles, such as John Boyega as Finn or Adam Driver as the ghost of Kylo Ren, Ridley said she didn’t know. Another character who fans might expect to see is Luke Skywalker, but Mark Hamill hasn’t heard anything. “Everything is confidential,” Hamill said. “So, If I were involved, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. And if I were not involved, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. So, I don’t know.

Well, Han Solo and Princess Leia had a jedi child in Ben Solo aka Kylo Ren, so what about Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker?
The next Star Wars movie from filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, which was announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, will see the further adventures of Rey post the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, one reported string being that the character starts up a Jedi Academy.
Catching up with Ridley at Deadline’s SXSW studio, the actress tells us, “I would say she probably doesn’t have children seeing she’s a Jedi.” We’ll, ya never know. Star Wars canon does change from time to time.
In regards to what she’s heard on the new film, which won’t come until after 2026’s Jon Favreau directed Mandalorian and Grogu Star Wars movie: “Literally what I know is what was announced last year, I’m waiting to read a script.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 47 years since we first witnessed the adventures of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, but across the nine-movie Skywalker saga, two standalone movies, a multitude of TV series, and one questionable Holiday Special, we’ve learned it’s a big ol’ galaxy out there. With enough characters to fill a Death Star, it’s inevitable that not every player in this grand space opera would get the same attention as Luke, Han, and Leia.
In fact, the franchise has allowed a few characters to slip to the sidelines. From major players who were discarded into the trash compactor to those who didn’t resonate with fans and were quietly pushed to the side, here are 12 Star Wars characters who deserved better.

Do it. Execute order 69. He could stop others from boning, but not himself. Young fool, only now in your end do you understand. Your coming together is your undoing. Insert your own ribald "Emperor Palpatine has sex" pun here.
In J.J. Abrams' maligned 2019 sci-fi adventure "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," it was revealed that the young heroine Rey (Daisy Ridley) was the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), the deceased villain from several previous "Star Wars" movies. At the end of 1983's "Return of the Jedi," Darth Vader (David Prowse) hurled the elderly Emperor from a tall tower, most definitely killing him. Somehow, however, Palpatine returned. Not only did he return, but he was revealed to be the secret mastermind behind all of the galaxy's recent malfeasance. He was kept alive by eerie, Gigerian machines on the distant planet Exegol, secretly growing clones and constructing a powerful fleet of ultra-destructive warships.

During the climax of Richard Marquand's 1983 film "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi," the evil Empire's second Death Star was destroyed by the Rebel Army, the ghoulish Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) was killed, and his right-hand warlock Darth Vader (David Prowse) died in the conflagration. It seemed that evil had been vanquished and that everything was well in the galaxy. For many, many years, fans didn't see what happened after that film, presumably because a new era of peace had begun and the Star Wars were over.
It wasn't until the release of J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in 2015 that we learned the dark truth. Much can be said about "Star Wars" but if there is one thing that it contributed to the greater landscape of cinema, it's a legacy of advancing on-screen visual effects. From the very beginning, George Lucas and the team at Industrial Light and Magic managed to do things that nobody could have imagined were possible beforehand. To this day, Lucasfilm continues that tradition under the Disney umbrella, with shows like "The Mandalorian" continuing to break new ground with VFX. But it was the sequel trilogy that showed what modern "Star Wars" could truly look like with the might of Disney backing these productions.

Times were tough for Chewbacca in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy. First, he watched helplessly as his decades-long pal Han Solo got impaled by a lightsaber, then his longtime friend Luke died after years of exile, and then his other friend Leia died not long after. Daisy Ridley is returning to the Star Wars universe to reprise her role of Rey in a film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.
Ahead of diving back into that world, she is looking back at how the fanbase was divided with the final installment of the sequel trilogy with 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
“It’s still upsetting,” Ridley said during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “You don’t want people to feel like you’ve not served the thing they’re a fan of.
