For eight seasons and 96 episodes, from 2006 to 2013, the series Dexter ran on Showtime, telling the story of Dexter Morgan, a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who is also a vigilante serial killer. Clyde Phillips was showrunner on Dexter for the first four seasons, and in 2021 he and Showtime brought us the revival series Dexter: New Blood… which, for a time, also seemed to be the end of it all. But that’s not the case. Showtime has tasked Phillips with continue to build up the Dexter franchise, with the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin premiering back in December and a New Blood follow-up called Dexter: Resurrection, which heard was heading for a June premiere date. It’s actually going to miss June by a handful of days, as Showtime has revealed (and trades like The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed) that Dexter: Resurrection is going to premiere with two episodes on Friday,...

Michael C. Hall is back and more brutal than ever in the official first set of images for Dexter: Resurrection. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen the actor in the role that won him a Golden Globe Award and even longer since fans were happy with where the plot was going. Hopefully, the sequel series will follow in the successful steps of the recently released prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, and give longtime viewers what they’ve been waiting for. Blending a lineup of new and old faces alike, the debut photos showcase the characters the titular vigilante serial killer will cross paths with when the show arrives later this year.

Originally premiering on Showtime in October 2006, Dexterquickly became a cultural phenomenon, thanks to its dark take on the flaws within the US criminal justice system. Within seven years, the crime series ran for eight seasons and carved out a giant fanbase while slicing through several ratings records. Though the latter seasons struggled to maintain critical acclaim, the franchise found new life in the sequel miniseries, Dexter: New Blood. The criticisms have lingered, but the Dexter franchise continues to expand, spawning prequels and sequels, including the much-anticipated Dexter: Resurrection. The new sequel series will continue the story while rectifying the divisive ending of its predecessor, and now franchise star Michael C Hall and creator Clyde Phillips have teased an ambitious vision for its future.

Showtime has tasked Phillips with continue to build up the Dexter franchise, with the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin premiering back in December and a New Blood follow-up called Dexter: Resurrection heading for a June premiere. Filming on Dexter: Resurrection is currently underway – and Vanity Fair has just unveiled several images from the show! You can check them out at the bottom of this article.

The Dexteruniverse is expanding once again with another continuation series, this time set after the events of the short-lived revival series Dexter: New Blood. While fans were almost sure that the titular vigilante serial killer had finally met his fate, Resurrection will see Michael C. Hall once again portray Dexter. He will be facing a violent past and present that will surely bring about another exciting chapter in the never-ending franchise.
Courtesy of Vanity Fair, a pair of new images from Dexter: Resurrection were released featuring Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, James Remar as Harry Morgan, David Zayas as Angel Batista, Uma Thurman, and Peter Dinklage. The star-studded affair follows a new page in Dexter's life as he is distant from his son, which is quite understandable after Harrison killed his father in the New Blood finale (or at least tried to). Michael C. Hall has officially returned to his iconic role of Dexter Morgan. Vanity Fair has released the first images from Dexter: Resurrection, the upcoming sequel series set after the events of Dexter: New Blood. Dexter met his fate at the end of New Blood, a controversial decision that still doesn’t sit well with many Dexter fans to this day, but Hall told Vanity Fair in a sweeping interview to talk about the new show that Resurrection will “undo” the New Blood ending, bringing back the legendary serial killer who only hunts other killers. The new images show Hall reprising his role as Dexter, with other stars such as Jack Alcott, Peter Dinklage, and even David Zayas, who will return and play Angel Batista.

FX will submit 19 actors from The Bear for Emmy Awards consideration this year, Gold Derby has learned.
Two-time Best Comedy Actor winner Jeremy Allen White will again be submitted as the show’s lead actor and look for the hat-trick. Past Best Comedy Supporting Actress winner Ayo Edebiri, who jumped to the lead actress race last year, is again being submitted in Best Comedy Actress.
Four The Bear stars will be submitted in the Best Comedy Supporting Actor category, including two-time winner Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who joins White in looking for a third consecutive victory. The other actors submitted include 2024 nominee Lionel Boyce, 2023 guest acting nominee Oliver Platt, and Matty Matheson.
In the Best Comedy Supporting Actress category, 2024 winner Liza Colón-Zayas is back, alongside costars Abby Elliott and Molly Gordon.

Remaking a fan favorite is always a risky move. And while the power of Edgar Wright, Glen Powell and Josh Brolin is enough to restore confidence in the upcoming remake of The Running Man, it might take even more to get some on board. Enter the original Ben Richards, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who lent his support for the rerun after being tracked down by the director and star.
Glen Powell – who will be taking over the role of Richards, who has been forced to participate in the country’s most dangerous game show – recently revealed that Arnold Schwarzenegger gave the go-ahead for The Running Man remake. Powell said that he used his friendship with Arnold’s son Patrick – and not his having already worked with him on The Expendables 3 – to set up a FaceTime meeting. “Arnold gave us his full blessing and we get to give Arnold a very specific...

Glen Powell just dropped a major update on his upcoming remake of a classic action movie. Powell is set to star in The Running Man, which is coming to theaters on November 7 and is a remake of the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film of the same name. The thriller is set in a dystopian America where a falsely convicted policeman has a chance to earn his freedom when he is forced to compete in a game show that sees convicts, runners, and more fight to the death. Powell recently sat down with People Magazine to promote his upcoming line of condiments, Smash Kitchen, and he confirmed that Schwarzenegger gave them the go-ahead to make the movie:
“Arnold gave us his blessing. Patrick Schwarzenegger is a great friend of mine, and I asked Patrick if I could talk to Arnold and I hadn’t seen Arnold since we shot Expendables in Bulgaria. Arnold gave us his full blessing,...

If there’s one thing that’s as prolific as horror author Stephen King himself, it’s the world of Stephen King adaptations. It was recently announced, for starters, that the author’s killer dog classic Cujo is headed back to the screen with a new adaptation in the works from Netflix with Black Swan filmmaker Darren Aronofsky in talks to direct.
Mike Flanagan also has plans to tackle new adaptations of The Dark Tower and Carrie for Amazon, and A24 is developing Stephen King’s Fairy Tale into a 10-episode series, to name just a handful of new movies and series on the way in 2026 and beyond.
But that doesn’t mean 2025 will take it easy on the King adaptations.
The year is packed with adaptations in film and series form. Here are six upcoming Stephen King adaptations arriving in 2025.

Many actors who worked with Tom Cruise revealed they asked him for advice. As the Mission: Impossible star is always willing to help fellow actors, his love for stunts might drive other actors to do the same.
At least his Top Gun: Maverick co-star, Glen Powell, is following in his footsteps. The rising actor will play the leading role in one of Stephen King's upcoming adaptations, The Running Man. During Paramount's CinemaCon presentation, which included films on its upcoming slate, Glen Powell revealed he asked Tom Cruise for advice on using a stunt double, per Deadline.
Powell was there with writer and director Edgar Wright, and presented the first footage from the upcoming adaptation of The Running Man. Actors Josh Brolin and Colman Domingo also attended the event.
The Running Man wrapped filming recently, and Wright echoed the sentiment on stage as they unveiled the first footage for the upcoming film.

In Glen Powellwe trust. Four years have gone by since it was announced that Edgar Wright was coming on board to direct a new take on the novel The Running Man, which was written by Stephen King under his Richard Bachman pen name. The Running Man was, of course, previously turned into a film back in 1987 that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and had little to do with the source material. Last year, Wright’s take on the material began filming with Glen Powell of Top Gun: Maverick, Hit Man, and Twisters in the lead role. Production wrapped last month – and now, the audience at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas has already gotten to see the first trailer for the film!

We’re already running to the theater. During its CinemaCon presentation on Thursday, Paramount Pictures gave the first look at “The Running Man,” the new adaptation of Stephen King’s book as directed by Edgar Wright and starring Glen Powell. While footage won’t be shared publicly for a while, we’re happy to report that the film looks as visually stylized and creative as any of Wright’s prior films.
It’s not a remake of the 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger but a new take on the King novel, in which an economically struggling U.S. (just how severe are those tariffs?) launches a game show where contestants are chased by murderous hunters across the globe. Dexter Morgan’s origin story will continue as it’s been announced that Dexter: Original Sin has been renewed for season 2 at Paramount+ with Showtime.
The prequel is set in 1991 and follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. “When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness,” reads the official description. “With the guidance of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. Last year, Wright’s take on the material began filming with Glen Powell of Top Gun: Maverick, Hit Man, and Twisters in the lead role – and now, Wright and Powell have confirmed that production has wrapped!
Wright and Powell both took to social media to share an image of them on set together, and each used the same caption. Powell’s caption read: “That’s a picture wrap on The Running Man. All my love and appreciation goes out to our incredible cast and crew...

Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water, Josh Brolin is in talks to star opposite Austin Abrams (Wolfs) in the Brian Duffield-directed adaptation of the Daniel Krauss novel Whalefall.

Here’s a synopsis for Krauss’s novel courtesy of Amazon:
Jay Gardiner has given himself a fool’s errand—to find the remains of his deceased father in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Monastery Beach. He knows it’s a long shot, but Jay feels it’s the only way for...

The number of familiar faces that will be seen in Dexter: Resurrectioncontinues to grow. The upcoming series, which will serve as a new sequel for Dexter and Dexter: New Blood, will arrive on Showtime and Paramount+ this summer.
Per Deadline, it's been revealed that actor Jimmy Smits has joined Dexter: Resurrection to reprise his role as Assistant District Attorney Miguel Prado. In the original Dexter, Smits made his debut as Miguel in the show's third season. Taking a page from Dexter, Miguel ended up becoming a murderous vigilante himself, though he didn't abide by the "Code" that Dexter strongly believes in. By the end of the season, Dexter had killed Miguel, though the character would remain one of the most memorable of the original series' run.
