While The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is getting a lot of attention these days (check out the first TV spot and Ethan's report of the upcoming Denny's Hobbit-themed meals), it seems one Lord of the Rings star isn't ready to be completely left behind. Variety reports that Dominic Monaghan, who played Merry in Peter Jackson's original trilogy, will return to the fantasy genre and star in a movie called Molly Moon, adapted from the popular children's book series written by Georgia Byng. Christopher Rowley (Bonneville) is directing the film about a young orphan girl who discovers a magical book on hypnotism. Raffey Cassidy, who played young Angelique in Dark Shadows and young Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman, will star as Molly, while Monaghan will play a villainous bank robber who will stop at nothing to steal Molly's secret hypnotism book and use it for his own dastardly purposes.

The art of hypnosis. Sounds promising! We’ve just learned that folks from Amber Entertainment are quite serious about the adaptation of Georgia Byng‘s fantasy novel Molly Moon. They even have a director for the whole thing – Bonneville helmer Christopher Rowley! And like that’s enough for the beginning, we also know that young and sweet Raffey Cassidy (remember her from Snow White and the Huntsman, right?) is all set to play that Molly girl!
So, as you probably know, Byng’s fantasy novel titled Molly Moon’s Incredible Book of Hypnotism, centers on an orphan girl named Molly, who finds a mysterious old book on hypnotism and discovers she can make people do whatever she wants. But a sinister stranger will do anything to steal her secret.
Byng also stands behind the script, which she co-wrote with Chris Hurford, with a polish by Tom Butterworth.
And, what’s...

TORONTO -- U.S. music supervisors at the Toronto International Film Festival descended on the third annual Canadian Music Cafe on Tuesday as they looked for emerging Canadian acts for film and TV scores.
Los Angeles-based Gary Calamar ("Six Feet Under") said he's scouting for Canadian artists for two Showtime series -- "Weeds" and "Dexter" -- as well as Alan Ball's new HBO series, "True Blood".
"It's more a coffee than a beer vibe," he said of the daytime showcase of promising talent at the Rivoli, which included performances by Great Lake Swimmers, United Steel Workers of Montreal, Lily Frost, Justin Rutledge and Die Mannequin.
Calamar used Canadian artist Kreesha Turner's "Bounce With Me" on HBO's "Entourage and hopes to snag additional local talent this week.
"I'm always hungry for new music and new things to play on my (KCRW) radio show and TV shows," he said.
Past deals in Toronto at the Canadian Music Cafe include music supervisor Matt Kierscht's licensing of Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Rose Ranger's "Soul Sisters" for Christopher Rowley's "Bonneville". And last year, U.S.
