Russell T Davies’ Red Production Company-created drama was up for Best Mini-Series, with Olly Alexander in contention for Leading Actor and Lydia West competing for Leading Actress.
However, BBC prison drama Time won the Mini-Series category, Sean Bean won Leading Actor for the same drama and Jodie Comer’s performance in Channel 4’s Help pipped West and Kate Winslet in the Leading Actress Category.
Compounding a disappointing evening for the hotly-tipped show, Callum Scott Howells, Omari Douglas and David Carlyle lost out to Succession’s Matthew Macfadyen in the Supporting Actor category. “Born Fighter,” the memoir of British-Bangladeshi Muay Thai World Champion Ruqsana Begum, is getting a limited series adaptation.
The series will be co-produced by BlackBox Multimedia, which has several Ellery Queen adaptations in the works, and Seven Seas Films (“The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story”).
Begum’s story is a coming-of-age sports drama, in which many of her biggest challenges take place outside of the ring. Dan Sefton (“The Good Karma Hospital”) will lead a diverse writing room, with Begum playing an integral role in the series development.

Dan Sefton To Adapt Ex-Genesis Drummer’s Novel For TV
Mallorca Files creator Dan Sefton is to adapt the story of ex-Genesis drummer Chris Stewart’s life for TV. Based on Stewart’s novel Driving Over Lemons, Sefton, along with a team including Simon Lupton, Nick Leese, Alvaro Alonso and Manuel Yebra, will turn the retired musician’s incredible life story into a comedy-drama, with no network attached yet. At 17, Stewart left Genesis and turned his back on rock-n-roll for a career as a sheep shearer and travel writer. Inspired by his family’s adventures, the drama follows Chris, a hapless optimist, and his pragmatic wife Ana, as the couple embark on a new life, uprooting from the UK and relocating to Andalusia in an attempt to build a new life in the Alpujarra mountains. Sefton’s indie Seven Sea Films is producing with Leese’s Tin Hat Film...

Iconic Queen frontman Freddie Mercury had once boasted about his "enormous sex drive", and how he would "go to bed with anything".
The late Mercury looked to push the boundaries when it came to bedroom antics and would go to extremes to satisfy his desires. After dating Mary Austin for five years, once they had split, the rockstar absolutely did not hold back while hunting for carnal pleasure, reports "mirror.co.uk".
The British singer-songwriter passed away on November 24, 1991, at the age of 45. He was suffering from AIDS at the time of death.
Facts about Mercury's sexual drive come to fore in a book, "Freddie Mercury: A life, In His Own Words", compiled and edited by Greg Brooks and Simon Lupton. The book has a foreword by Mercury's mother Jer Bulsara and is being billed by critics as the nearest thing to being the late singer's autobiography. It is a witty,...

U.K.-based Great Point has bought into Seven Seas Films, the British indie producer that recently teamed with BBC Studios for a drama series about the final months of Marilyn Monroe. Great Point has a new “enterprise investment scheme” fund, Great Point Ventures, and is primed to invest in several more film and TV producers in the U.K.
The U.K. has rejigged the Eis funding mechanism, which in the past has been extensively used to back slates and individual projects. That is no longer possible, but the new rules do allow for investment in media firms.
Demand for content is high, but producers often need finance to keep their operations up and running amid the ebb and flow of production. Many opt for deals with sales firms who get a first look at the international rights to their output. Great Point also has a sales division, which is active at Cannes,...

The My Family actor will be joined by Maureen Lipman in Bull, a new three-part sitcom from writers Gareth Gwynn and John-Luke Roberts.
