George Lazenby didn’t have much time as James Bond. The Australian model and car salesman notoriously bluffed his way into succeeding Sean Connery in 1969’s “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” (in which 007 falls in love with Diana Rigg, and left grief-stricken when she’s murdered by Telly Savalas’ Blofeld). He then walked away and slipped into obscurity.
But, thanks to “Becoming Bond,” the Hulu doc premiering Saturday, the 77-year-old Lazenby steps out of the shadows. Through a hilarious combination of onscreen narration and re-enactments starring Josh Lawson, Lazenby recounts his wild exploits, filled with sex, drugs, and rebellion. It’s directed by Josh Greenbaum (“The Short Game”) as “Drunk History” meets “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.”
At Wednesday’s premiere of “Becoming Bond” at Cinefamily in Hollywood, Lazenby ranked his fleeting moments as 007 with IndieWire:

Princess Diana's death shocked the world. But global leaders Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were most concerned about how Prince William and Prince Harry were faring. Newly published transcripts of phone calls between then-President Bill Clinton and the U.K.'s former Prime Minister Tony Blair reveal that the political leaders discussed their concerns over Prince William and Prince Harry after the death of their mother, Princess Diana. Clinton, who was vacationing in Martha's Vineyard at the time, spoke with Blair for 25 minutes - from 11:39 to 11:54 a.m. - on September 1, 1997, the day after Diana's death.

The most commercially successful Bond film to date is Thunderball. The pic earned over $141 million worldwide, of which more than half was generated domestically in the U.S. The film was such a success, it was remade some 18 years later as Never Say Never Again. This is without a doubt my favourite Bond film (although not the best), and the film that perfected the ‘Bond Formula”. Every key player is back: lead actor Sen Connery, director Terence Young, longtime Bond screenwriter Richard Maibaum, cinematographer Ted Moore, title sequence designer Maurice Binder, and composer John Barry.
11: Thunderball - Opening Title Sequence
Maurice Binder returns to the fold after two films away, and creates the quintessential Bond title sequence. The titles of Thunderball are visually striking, showing silhouettes of naked women swimming around against coloured backgrounds. Binder hired two dancers who actually swam about in tanks in disco clubs and convinced...

Robert Forster will play Ronald Reagan in an upcoming project titled The Lifeguard: Ronald Reagan and His Story.
This is a one-man stage play that is written by David Rambo, and will be directed by Tony Award winner Peter Hunt.
So, that already sounds like great team, and it’s definitely something worth our attention. So, check out the rest of this report.
What I find interesting about this project, is that it will “cover Reagan’s rise from humble beginnings to Screen Actors Guild president, California governor and iconic U.S. President.” David Rambo explained that:
“There are a lot of Reagan haters out there, I was one of those Reagan haters for a long time. But the more I researched, the more I felt – not a love – but a respect for Reagan the man.” Rambo also met with Reagan’s daughter, Patti Davis, and conducted research at the Reagan library.

Robert Forster has been cast as Ronald Reagan in and new one-man stage play called The Lifeguard: Ronald Reagan and his Life. He will also star in the big screen adaptation of the film. The film and play is being produced by David Permut and Mark Travis, (Give ‘Em Hell, Harry!). It was written by David Rambo and will be directed by Tony Award winner Peter Hunt.
The story will cover Reagan's rise from humble beginnings to Screen Actors Guild president, California governor and iconic U.S. president. It's also reported that the Reagan family has been involved in a consulting capacity through the development of the project.
Forster has been in films and shows such as Jackie Brown, Hereos, and will show up in J.J. Abrams new TV series Alcatraz. Permut, Travis and Hunt considered several actors for the role of Reagan, before deciding Forster was right for the role.

There is a rather rare, very specific film subgenre that we rarely have a chance to discuss: Single-Actor Films Based on One-Man Stage Plays About Us Presidents. There is Secret Honor, for instance, in which Philip Baker Hall did a magnificent job as Richard Nixon for director Robert Altman. And there is Give 'Em Hell, Harry!, in which James Whitmore played Harry S Truman. Now the producers of that film, David Permut and Mark Travis, are assembling a stage play about Ronald Reagan, called The Lifeguard: Ronald Reagan and His Story. They've hired Robert Forster to play the one and only role, and he'll carry that forward into a screen version, too. Deadline [1] says that the producers "plan to follow the template they established with James Whitmore and Give 'Em Hell Harry," which means they'll do a touring stage show, and then film a version to release to theaters. Rehearsals...

Exclusive: Robert Forster has been signed to play Ronald Reagan in The Lifeguard: Ronald Reagan and His Story, a one-man stage play written by David Rambo to be directed by Tony Award winner Peter Hunt. The play is being produced by David Permut and Mark Travis, with Merry-Kay and Steven Poe. Permut and Travis plan to follow the template they established with James Whitmore and Give 'Em Hell Harry. That Harry Truman story was first mounted as a stage show that toured the country, and it was filmed and released as a theatrical feature in 1975. Hunt directed Whitmore in that role. Rehearsals start March 1 for the Reagan play. The producers are booking the tour now, with the hope they will end up on Broadway, where the performance will be filmed. Even though studios turned down Give 'Em Hell Harry, the producers were able to book the film directly with exhibitors,...

Not that we're ever overtly patriotic here on GreenCine, but certainly the 4th of July conjures up both a fondness for things Americana and thoughts (okay, brief thoughts) about our founding fathers. Sherman Edwards and Peter Stone's dated but still amusing musical, and its subsequent movie version directed by Peter Hunt, 1776 features some fine songs (who knew those founders could be so musically adept?) but one of the numbers from the film was excised from the theatrical version due to a complaint from then-president Richard Nixon (who soon would have a little less pull, but at the time was friends with producer Jack Warner).

The "Cool Considerate Men" sequence was more recently put back in the restored version of the film, as seen on DVD. The song allegedly drew parallels between opponents of American Independence in 1776 and the modern conservative movement. It doesn't seem all that thinly veiled, even.
