TV is firmly in its reboot, revival, and reunion era. Shows such as Frasier and Sex and the City have been revisited, with varying degrees of success. Some of these exploits, like the newsmaking Fresh Prince reunion, have added valuable perspective to the original show.

Sons of Anarchy, which ran for seven seasons on FX, ranks as one of the all-time greatest basic cable shows ever. The series, about an outlaw motorcycle club from California's Central Valley, had amazing characters, truly evil villains, and engaging story arcs. Best of all, it went out on a high note before it grew irrelevant, like too many shows that overstayed their welcome.
While it was appropriate to end when it did, the Sons of Anarchy finale meant fans wouldn't get their weekly dose of Jax and the crew. Luckily, there are plenty of shows that bring a similar vibe for fans to check out or rediscover. There aren't a bunch of renegade biker shows out there, but there are some, and the theme of having the heroes be criminals is quite pervasive on television.

Amazon MGM Studios has canceled the upcoming J. Edgar spinoff in the Bosch universe. Initially set to be developed by Blue Bloods alum Larry Andries, the J. Edgar show would have followed Harry Bosch's former partner, Detective Jerry Edgar, as he moved to Little Haiti, Miami, for an undercover FBI mission. It was confirmed that Jamie Hector, who played Edgar in all seven seasons of Bosch, would lead the potential new series, and was one of two in the works for the franchise.
Now, just two years shy of when it was first announced, Deadline has brought word that the Hector-led new Bosch spinoff is no longer happening at Prime Video. A pair of IP-based projects at Amazon aren’t moving forward after several years of development.
The tech giant’s Freevee streaming service has scuttled a sequel to the 1980s sitcom Who’s The Boss?, which had original series stars Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano attached to reprise their roles. Amazon MGM Studios, meanwhile, has pulled the plug on a Bosch spinoff centering on Jamie Hector’s character, Detective Jerry Edgar.
The Who’s the Boss? sequel found a home at Freevee in 2022 after two years in development at Sony Pictures Television, which owns the rights to the original series. Bosch: Legacy is the sequel series of Bosch, the Prime Video TV series based on the LAPD detective created by author Michael Connelly. The original Bosch series followed Titus Welliver as Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch, a hardened, no-nonsense LAPD detective from the Hollywood Homicide division. Harry is a tough detective who usually follows his own rules. And even though some might question his methods and his distinct dislike for authority, Harry always finds the bad guy.
Bosch ended after seven seasons in 2021. But thanks to the popularity of the show and the critical acclaim Bosch received, a sequel series was quickly announced; Bosch: Legacy. Bosch: Legacy follows Harry after he resigns from the LAPD and becomes a private investigator. And besides Harry, Bosch: Legacy also follows Harry's daughter Maddie Bosch, as a rookie cop for the LAPD, and Honey Chandler, the controversial defense attorney who crossed paths multiple times with Harry in the original Bosch.

Titus Welliver believes there is a weird similarity between his roles in Bosch and Watchmen: Chapter I. Welliver has played many characters over his 34-year career, from Losts Man in Black to the Silas Adams in Deadwood, but in the last few years he has become best known for perfectly embodying Michael Connellys Hieronymus Harry Bosch in both Bosch and Bosch: Legacy. Now he is playing another different role, voicing the shady private eye Rorschach in the animated two-part movie, Watchmen: Chapter I.

Amazon is adding another actor to its expanding Bosch universe.
John Carroll Lynch has joined the third show in the franchise, centering on LAPD detective Renée Ballard (to be played by Maggie Q). The untitled series, which will stream on Prime Video, follows Ballard as she takes on running the department’s cold case division — an underfunded, all-volunteer unit with a huge case load. The character has appeared in several of Bosch author Michael Connelly’s novels.
Lynch (American Horror Story, Big Sky) will play Thomas Laffont, a retired former partner of Ballard’s who comes back to help her run the the department. He’s a kind, seasoned detective and crack interrogator.
The spinoff — one of two additional shows set in the same world as both Bosch and Bosch: Legacy — will be set up in the season three finale of the latter series, which is likely to premiere later this year.

Like any organized profession with a large clientele, police officers and law enforcers utilize abbreviated codes and easy-to-remember acronyms to communicate clearly and quickly. One of the most glaring TV examples includes the popular crime procedural Bosch and its spin-off Bosch: Legacy, the latter of which is poised to return to Freevee for a third season in late 2024. The original show follows Harry Bosch's skillful detective prowess and the latter focuses on Bosch's daughter Maddie climbing the ranks of the LAPD.
Both Bosch series incorporate specific police jargon and encoded lingo that tells them what dangers lie ahead and what crimes to look out for. In addition to the LAPD, several FBI acronyms are expressed on the show, written by crime reporter turned bestselling crime novelist Michael Connelly.

With new procedurals on television almost every season, competition is high and critics (not to mention viewers) have seen it all. Yet Prime Video's Bosch makes it all look easy. Based on the Harry Bosch novels from Michael Connelly, the original series ran for seven seasons between 2014 and 2021 before being succeeded by the sequel Bosch: Legacy in 2022.
In total, that's nine seasons of Harry Bosch investigating crimes in Los Angeles -- which is longer than many TV shows manage to last in the modern era.

“I thought of it,” says Kelsey Grammer. At the top of THR’s Comedy Actor Emmy Roundtable, he’d been asked to recall the funniest feedback he’s ever received. It took him half an hour, but the answer found him: “I was in my 40s, and somebody said, ‘You are the worst boyfriend I’ve ever had!’ ” The Frasier star, now pretending to cry, is met with a burst of laughter. What started with a little trepidation — “This is my first roundtable,” confessed Palm Royale’s Ricky Martin, who was joined at The Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica by John Goodman (The Conners and The Righteous Gemstones), Grammer, Theo James (The Gentlemen), Anthony Mackie (Twisted Metal) and Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) — soon shifted to dueling war stories of drunken fans and lessons learned from a combined 180 years in entertainment.

Rebooting "The Wire" doesn't make sense in today's TV landscape, says Jamie Hector, who played Marlo Stanfield. HBO should leave "The Wire" alone as it's still considered one of the greatest TV shows of all time. "We Own This City" serves as a spiritual sequel to "The Wire," further proof that a reboot is unnecessary.
Considered one of television's greatest series of all time, HBO's The Wire is one of the few beloved properties to avoid being rebooted. Created by author and former police reporter David Simon, the iconic crime drama premiered in 2002, and ran for five seasons through 2008. The Peabody Award-winning The Wire chronicles the relationship between Baltimore's various institutions and the city's law enforcement. With 60 episodes to its name, The Wire feels as complete as a show about an ever-changing city can be, but that doesn't mean viewers aren't intrigued by the thought of HBO revisiting the show.

In an upcoming episode of Bosch: Legacy Season Two, private investigator Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch (Titus Welliver) asks a favor of a couple of colleagues from his days as an LAPD homicide detective. Their exchange is terse and extremely one-sided in favor of the self-righteous Bosch. As he walks away, Christina Vega (Jacqueline Obradors) mutters, “Same old Bosch.”
“Same old Bosch” might as well be the actual title of Bosch: Legacy, which is among the least spinoff-y of spinoffs ever made(*). It brings back the hero of Bosch as its main character.
