Vampire Weekend have announced a 2024 North American tour and shared the first two singles from their upcoming album Only God Was Above: “Capricorn” and “Gen-x Cops.”
The 39-date tour kicks off in early June, following the band’s record release show in Austin and festival appearances at New Orleans Jazz Fest, Kilby Block Party in Salt Lake City, and Primavera Sound in Barcelona. As part of the North American headlining run, they’ll play multiple shows at Madison Square Garden in New York, Huntington Bank Pavilion in Chicago, KettleHouse Amphitheater in Bonner, Mt, and The Greek Theatre in Berkeley. For four days only, Phish will be performing at the Sphere in Las Vegas this year.
This is the first time Phish performs for their fans at the Sphere and what makes these four shows even more special is that each show will have a different setlist and visuals.
Though they will only be in Las Vegas for a limited time, later this summer, the 80s rock band will be in Delaware for Mondegreen, another four-day set of concerts.
Hailing from Burlington, Vermont, Phish banded together in 1983. Guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman and keyboardist Page McConnell make up the Grammy-nominated band.
The band’s popularity rose in the mid-90s but suffered two disbandments in the early 2000s. However, in 2008, the band reconciled and has been performing together ever since.

Five years after Dave Grohl performed his prog-rock epic “Play” live for the first (and only) time, a video of the complete and extended performance of the song has been revealed.
In December 2018, Grohl recruited an all-star lineup including Alain Johannes, Greg Kurstin, Chris Chaney, Barrett Jones, and more to give “Play” a one-night-only airing at the annual Christmas Jam benefit concert in Asheville thrown by Gov’t Mule’s Warren Haynes.

Dave Grohl has unleashed the only live performance of his epic 23-minute, instrumental “Play,” which extends the song to a whopping 36 minutes.
Recorded during Warren Haynes’ 30th Annual Christmas Jam in 2018, the live version expands the breadth of the instrumental as Grohl is accompanied by Greg Kurstin on keyboards, Chris Chaney on bass, Drew Hester on percussion, and guitarists Jason Falkner, Alain Johannes, and Barrett Jones. However, it’s Asheville-based busker Abby the Spoon Lady who really steals the show. Watch the performance below.
“Play” was originally composed and performed entirely with Grohl on every instrument. The process of its recording was captured in a two-part documentary of the same name, released in 2018.
The track will appear on The Benefit Concert Volume 20, a collection of performances recorded on December 7th and 8th, 2018 in Asheville, North Carolina. Other featured artists include Eric Church, Joe Bonamassa, Gov’t Mule, Mike Gordon, Marco Benevento,...

Trey Anastasio has left his New York apartment exactly three times in the past month. The first of those outings was March 21st, when he went for a walk in Central Park with his wife, Sue. The following day, Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters he was angry people were still hanging out in parks, playing pickup basketball games. Anastasio has since only gone outside twice, to run to the store. “It’s tense,” he says. “It’s not really a pleasant walk. You can go out, but then you immediately feel like,...

In our new series, we look at eight cities where live music has exploded — from legendary hubs like New Orleans and Nashville and Chicago, to rising hot spots like Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Portland, Maine. The first city we’re spotlighting: Denver, where nearby Red Rocks is only the beginning of the rising music destination.
Perhaps no performer has embodied Denver’s past decade more than native Nathaniel Rateliff; at its start, he was playing in a basement bar to 25 people; by its end, he had sold out multi-night stints at Red Rocks.

Mike Gordon has had a big year. He released his excellent psychedelic solo album Ogogo and has spent the time since alternating between solo tours and Phish, who just played an entire Halloween show as a pretend Scandinavian prog band. Phish have two other huge events coming up: their annual New Year’s Eve spectacle at Madison Square Garden and a destination festival in Mexico: Phish: Riviera Maya, where they’ll play three nights.

Executive producer Akiva Goldsman continues to develop an 'Old West' TV drama pilot for HBO focusing on real-life gunslinger, gambler, killer, 'Doc Holliday'.
Script is by Adam Cooper and Bill Collage ("Accepted"), adapting author Mary Doria Russell's novel "Doc", that takes a closer look at the 'love triangle' between Holliday, his prostitute wife, 'Big Nose Kate Elder' and best friend, lawman 'Wyatt Earp'.
'John Henry Holliday' was born in 1851 in Griffin Georgia. In 1872, after earning his 'Doctor of Dental Surgery', he opened an office in Atlanta with a fellow graduate, but was diagnosed with tuberculosis.
Hoping to gain some more years of life, he moved to Dallas, Texas, but his illness forced him to find other ways to live and he became an avid gambler, while learning how to handle a 'six-shooter' gun.
In 1875, Holliday killed a well known citizen, forcing him to flee Dallas under the pursuit of lawmen.

On an icy February afternoon in Manhattan, the co-star of IFC's sketch-comedy series Portlandia has just ducked into a brightly lit Opening Ceremony boutique in search of an outfit for a New York Fashion Week event that night. "I like to go to other cities because I can dress up," she says, eyeing a stylish black blazer with blue and white checks. New York -- The politics-fueled ratings train of "Saturday Night Live" keeps rolling along -- and it seems to be getting stronger.
"SNL" averaged a 7.4 household rating/18 share in the metered market overnights, Nielsen Media Research said Sunday afternoon. That's within a tenth of a rating point of its Sept. 13 premiere, which itself was the highest-rated show since Dec. 14, 2002, when Al Gore and Phish appeared.
And, as expected, Saturday's show was heavy on the politics. It marked the third appearance this season by Tina Fey as Sarah Palin, along with surprise guest Queen Latifah sitting in as moderator Gwen Ifill and regular cast member Jason Sudeikis as Joe Biden. The 11-minute opening number drew rave reviews not only in the ratings but also the blogosphere, where the clip -- and Fey-as-Palin saying the Gop ticket would be all "mavericky" -- gained wide traction overnight. (Watch the clip at THR's Live Feed Blog)

"Saturday Night Live" premiered its new season Saturday with the show’s highest ratings for a season-opener in seven years. Was it Tina Fey’s knee-slapping, dead-on cameo as VP nominee Sarah Palin, or guest-host Michael Phelps’ big acting debut -- or was it Barack Obama’s highly-anticipated appearance that was later canceled that brought in the numbers? The premiere was also the most-watched episode since December 17, 2002, when former presidential vice president Al Gore guest-hosted the show and the musical guest was Phish, Reuters reports. Saturday’s SNL premiere was up 64 percent since last year, with Baltimore leading the market, Reuters says. Baltimore is the hometown of Olympics star Michael Phelps.

New York -- With the surprise appearance of Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin in the opening and gold medalist Michael Phelps as guest host, "Saturday Night Live" logged its best premiere since September 2001.
